I used to get my hair cut by the singer in a little underground arcade in Liverpool city centre just before they exploded into fame, they were massive in the USA but only for a moment....he was brave that boy he lived on one the toughest estates in Britain.
Still upset I didn't. I was born in the 1990s, which makes me a 2000s kid. Thankfully, though, I have an older mother and brothers, so I grew up on 1960 to 1990s in terms of music, film, and so on. Glad of that. Honestly, you cannot beat the 1990s. I think it's overlooked for being 'dark', more so by the Americans and 1980s types, but it's way more than just 'dark' and has some very 'bright' things going on -- just as there is quite a number of 'dark' songs and films, etc. from the 1980s, as well. Both those decades were the height of entertainment, I think. Having said that, I love early-2000s video games and The Lord of the Rings films, among others. 1960s and 1970s are great, along with some 1950s' Hitchcock and such, but not as good, I feel. I'll just take 1980 to 2007 and be done with it. Again, worth not overlooking 1954 to 1979, more so 1968 to 1979 in terms of sci-fi, films horror films, novels, and rock music, but I do think the 1960s and 1970s was far too hippie and dominated by socialists in the US. 1970s' British music is good, though. I actually don't have much of a problem with history, to be honest, I just have a problem with 2008-2021, more so 2012-2021. So downhill it's shocking, and that is seen also in music. I don't like music after about 2004 other than a few songs, but mostly pre-1992 (Queen).
"Space Age Love Song" by A Flock of Seagulls is another great song from the same album. Just in the last couple of years they reunited and re-recorded their best-known songs with a full 110 piece orchestra. They were a great band...still are! Thanks!!!
Man this came out when I was like 15 yrs old, even had this tape for my Walkman. Truly iconic 80's music. And this was considered "New Wave" music at the time, not disco.
I thought the Moog was pretty much out after the 70s, the synth didn't sound like a Moog. That was more Emerson, Lake, And Palmer, and other Prog groups in the 70s.
Glad you guys reacted and liked this band. They are one of my favorites from the 80’s. The style is called British New Wave. It was a reaction to the punk scene (which the punk scene was a reaction to disco). You should also check out New Order, Depeche Mode, The Smiths, Pet Shop Boys, Yazoo and Erasure.
The punk scene was much more a reaction to the older prog rock and metal bands and that general over blown self indulgent 70's rock.....not disco, they didn't take disco seriously enough to react against it, this was not a reaction against punk at all, they considered it a progression.
There is an episode of "Friends" where Ross comes home for Thanksgiving, bringing his roommate, Chandler (who is wearing a Flock of Seagulls hairstyle). It's so funny!!
@Penderyn Lewsyn now now come on you know lot's of scousers are proud of being British /English liverpool is in England whether you like it or not. Infact i was down the pier head today and every building as got the union Jack and England flags flying. Exept the fenian pubs that is .
There's one scene in La La Land when Emma Stone/Mia finds out that Ryan Gosling/Sebastian is playing at an 80's cover band and when the singer of the band asks for requests, she asks for this song.
You did it now you are in the 80s music, this more. Of the new wave era another great one from them Spaced age love song and Wish give those two a listen thank you your channel is awesome
I had never heard of this band before but they were the support for Squeeze at a concert I went to in the 80s, just before this came out, they played this song and all I could say was Wow ! they were really very good live as well.
The music genre isn't "disco," it's actually called "synthpop" or "synthwave" (due to heavy use of synthesizers for melodies). It's in the same genre as "Take On Me" by A-Ha. Synthpop gained popularity in the 80s, particularly in Europe -- probably because the pioneers of synthesized music - Kraftwerk - were based in Germany and were producing 100% synthesized techno music in the 70s -- decades before it became commonplace in clubs.
Thanks for reacting to my request...didn't know if you would like 80s...this is early 80s when I was in high school...yes, I'm that old...lol...gonna send another PayPal donation for another song from the 90s that I guarantee you have not heard of but will get a kick out of it...you all are so young...nothing but the best to you and yours.
That song made me look up what Aurora Borealis was. It's till a bucket item for me. Back when this song came out it was at the front of what we called the "New Wave" movement.
Lol New Wave. Growing up in the 80s everyone's musical taste was met. We had it all and all was good. Heck even country music back then was good and I am a rocker.🤷♂️😂
Flock of Seagulls is New Wave, along with the Eurythmics, Talking Heads, A-ha, Frankie Goes to Hollywood, Blondie, Simple Minds, The Cure, etc.... If you're interested in disco, listen to Donna Summer "I Feel Love". She's the queen of disco.
Our generation was wowed by the '60s and '70s stuff. I grew up in the 80s and it was banging, but I really came to love New Wave/Synthpop in the '90s (My decade)! Glad you guys appreciate this classic. 😎
You should react to "Space Age Love Song" by Flock of Seagulls! It's got the type of killer riff that you won't be able to get out of your head for 3 weeks.....at least! I remember seeing Flock of Seagulls open up for The Police at Sullivan Stadium in Foxboro, MA in 1983!
If you guys like A Flock of Seagulls, "Wishing", and "Space Age Love Song" are classics. Also, that "piano" Mike Score is pressing hard on is a Roland SH-09 synthesizer. Technically, it was done on a Moog MS-20 and Korg Delta synthesizer in the studio, but the song was just synced with the video, so Mike used what he had on hand for the filming of the music video, and apparently the small budget they had for it was blown on tinfoil, which they covered the set in... I recommend looking them up, lots of interesting stories from them. ALSO, to be clear, I'm not giving you a hard time because you said "piano", it's pretty common nowadays for synthesizers to go unnoticed with them being so commonplace, they're underappreciated for what they do. That wasn't the case back when this song was made, they were interesting and new. I feel people who react to older music now, this is very evident. But music like AFOS is one big history lesson pretty much.
Takes me back to my acid-taking days, this song was very reminiscent of those times. Your lady friend, l think l heard her name is Livia or Lydia, is still knocking it outta the park looks wise, always enjoyable to watch. Keep it up!
Thanks for reacting to this classic from my childhood! Transfer Affection is another good one from them. Tahnee Cain & The Trianglz--Burnin' In The Third Degree from The Terminator soundtrack is lit.
NOW THIS MY MY NEW FAVORITE OF THIS MONTH
Please u also gotta react to flock of seagulls wishing I had photograph of you
They got a couple other great songs,

U guys r on fire on the tube bruh....I watch everyone....dont stop!!!...🔥 📛
I used to get my hair cut by the singer in a little underground arcade in Liverpool city centre just before they exploded into fame, they were massive in the USA but only for a moment....he was brave that boy he lived on one the toughest estates in Britain.
The buggles- video killed the radio star is a good song to try if you like this song
My son is 18 and Flock Of Seagulls is his favourite band. He even has a signed vinyl album. 80's music is so underrated.
80’s music. Can’t beat it. Glad I grew up then

@@TheClassicWorld well put. Early 90’s grunge/alternative is probably my favorite
Awesome band

Takes me back to the event of the premier of MTV. Yes, I am that old.

🐲💬🔥this music is considered New wave of the 80's ⚪🐉☯️🌊
Man this came out when I was like 15 yrs old, even had this tape for my Walkman. Truly iconic 80's music. And this was considered "New Wave" music at the time, not disco.
Hahaha I was about 15 as well.
I think that piano thing he’s playing is called a moog synthesizer. I used to get motion sickness watching this video on MTV!
Roland synthesizer, actually. Not all synthesizers are built by Moog.
I thought the Moog was pretty much out after the 70s, the synth didn't sound like a Moog. That was more Emerson, Lake, And Palmer, and other Prog groups in the 70s.
they need to be linked to a synth history page.
This is from those early days of MTV and cable television. I was young when this song came out but LOVED it! British New Wave rocks.

one of my favorite old classic songs...i listen to this song monthly
The guitar player with the glasses was 17 years old in this video !
He was 19 here. He was 17 when he joined the band 2 years prior in early 1980. Still young, but not 17.
This is the kind of song you can play hours of video games to.
Best pop culture reference, on pulp fiction Samuel L Jackson calls one of the young boys "flock of seagulls" lol
I remember that.😂😂😂
I think the other boy who had the burger was in a film with Jennifer connelly on skates with flock of seagulls playing space age love.
Hey you,Flock of seagulls, why don’t you tell my man where the case it.Hahahaha
Due to his haircut yeah
The kid in the sunglasses is as 80’s as you can get, thanks Mr Reynolds
He was only 19 when they filmed this video.
This song has been in many car commercials, movies, and video games, I know for sure it was in GTA Vice City.
AFOS ~ ‘Wishing (If I Had A Photograph of You)” and ‘Space Age Love Song’.
There's one scene in La La Land when Emma Stone/Mia finds out that Ryan Gosling/Sebastian is playing at an 80's cover band and when the singer of the band asks for requests, she asks for this song.
Dope ass groove
2nd. I love how they bounce to the song.
Couldn’t agree more 👀
🧐🧐
I know. After the song to pornhub I go.
@@chazblitz YOU KNOTTY , KNOTTY BOYEE!
All four of them.
From the Golden Age of MTV: 1982 (I was 10, and remember this video transfixing me).
They used this as the ad for Grand theft Auto

80's new wave. Very successful hit also in the golden ages of MTV.
80s New wave !!!!❤️💗💕💗
Gta vice city introduced alot of legendary songs for alot of us growing up
Nostalgic for High School now.. the 80s were the good old days.
I think it was Austin Powers who once said, "nothing happens in the 1970s and 1980s, except for a "gas shortage and a flock of seagulls."
Keep going with Space Age Love Song. Those guitars are fire
Space Age Love Song is another great song by A Flock of Seagulls
I scored this record today at thrift shop, how funny...
Played "like new" for those curious....
That whole album is solid
Damn Gud find....lucky u! Score! A classic!

Space Age Love Song
The least guilty of my New Wave guilty pleasures. This song is the bomb.

These guys are one of my favorite 80's bands. I was born in 1981.
just one of the great one hit wonders of the 80's you need more stuff like this
They were more than a o e hit wonder. They also had hits with Space Age Love Song, Wishing, and The More You Live the More You Love.

Love this song, in 1983 actually broke my foot performing (singing/playing guitar) to this song. Was on crutches for several weeks.
React to their other song Space Age Love Song. It's very groovy and catchy. You'll love it!
