We paid for the lyric video before InVogue signed us, we feel it's a good way for fans to learn the lyrics and interpret the message in the way we'd prefer them to.
Even though you say your band isn't "Christian", as a Christian metalhead myself i really appreciate and love this song and the lyrics! So thank you! :)
So beautiful. I love the lyric that states that he didn't give light to this world to watch us fall. He couldn't bear it. So he gave His son to take the fall for us and to rescue us from ourselves.
God doesn't exist in any evident sense. And even if he did, *he* would be the one responsible for whatever anyone would need to be "saved from". In this context he's *partially rescuing* people from a hell he created (most people are not Christian). That's like starting a house fire with 10 people inside, saving 3-4 of them and calling yourself a savior. Utter and complete absurdity.
10 years ago!!?? I can't believe that I never heard of Dayseeker until like a year or 2 ago. I could've had more good music to listen to when I was in high school
I remember they were another local band before they blew up. If you barely just found out about Dayseeker. Go check out Silent Planet and Phineas. I’m glad I seen them before they blew up on got on a label. I’m still bumping this in 2024!
I'm a deconverted christian, an atheist now, and I wish I could've discovered these guys while I was still a Christian. I know I would've really appreciated it. I love it now, I even got chills, cause I know how powerful this is. Great song, I love it, and religion doesn't matter when it comes to good musicality, a good message, and good writing.
Man! Whether its my interpretation or not this song is inspiring! What gets me is that most songs you hear are from the position that when things are tough and bad things are happening its proof that God does not exist or that he's malevolent, but what you have said is that no matter how bad things seem there is light at the end of the tunnel. God does not give us tests we cannot pass, which is so true. Either way, the song is amazing and not only inspired me as a human being, but as a musician.
This song speaks to me so much. I know you guys have said it's not a Christian song but that I what understand from it. It's my interpretation. I am currently struggling with my Faith and I don't know where I stand with it. I always feel like He is not their and I feel like giving up all the time. But this song here, always reminds me that no matter what, he will always be there for me. Thanks a lot you guys! Wish the best for you all because you all deserve it. Much Love from Illinois!
OK people, Christian or not, this song is powerful and as a Christian spoke to me. Not feeling good enough, failing God all the time, this song has so much truth and honesty in it. Wish more Christians would admit their shortcomings and stop being 'white washed tombs' as Jesus said.
Rory said this himself here about a year ago... "I posted this from my personal twitter, I am not a Christian, and we all have different beliefs in the band. There's no Christian basis for these songs, and certainly not for my personal life. Just a talk between a man and god. Thanks for the interpretation though! -Rory R." And this is what he said to me personally... "...We all feel things, and we all have our own separate beliefs, each one of us in the band is incredibly spiritual and have a lot of connection and faith in a god and a greater purpose, just because it's not aligned with a set religion doesn't make it any less powerful...."
Trust. It makes full sense. Because you dont follow their God, doesnt mean you are wrong. Like you can't talk to the diety man names God. Rory is a gentleman and a scholar
This song is phenomenal!!! People are struggling with their faith because of the constant pressure and onslaught from the world, the end is near so the enemy is turning up the heat. We need to keep close to God to make it.
I'm an anti-theist and i can appreciate this. Even the non-religious have asked themselves if there was something/someone listening to them crying out. This is the kind of music that pulls people through hard times, and i thank you for that.
Although Dayseeker isn't a christian band, this music is awesome! You don't need to be a christian to understand God, and this music tell some truths yet to be told to many people. Excellent song and lyrics :D
this song is so inspiring, i cant believe that people judge this genre of music when obviously you can see that its not demonic. You guys are awesome cant wait to see you guys live!
This song hits home hard, great job Day Seeker, don't stop making meaningful music and impacting the lives of many, we've got faith in you. Do it for us.
breathtaking Rory slammed this song, i cant even begin. One hell of a voice. And as someone who is open to the idea of god, but doesn't believe in it.. I love the message he puts out because its purely from his heart. That is something I truly believe.
Still playing in 2024. Still remember when you guys were just starting out with silent planet and phineas, The Parousia and Silence O’ Israel. Glad all of you guys are out there spreading your music! 💯🙏❤️
My friend's teacher got mad for listening to Dayseeker in school (it's a Christian private school). But this is the song that explains how God gave up his one son for all of us despite how we truly are. It's truly what I would call a masterpiece.
This is my first time listening to you guys and all I want to say is thank you for this song. Thank you thank you thank you. I'm going through some hard times in my life right now and felt so close to giving up until this song reminded me I'm not alone in my fight. Thank you.
Great band, great song and lyrics. I have been searching for maturity in most metal music nowadays and they point me to the ones who really inspire me to fight against the struggles with my faith. Thank you!
this song gave me CHILZZZZ! i liked how it was like someone speaking to god and god speaking back but in a different way !!!! SCREAMING!!!! well written and great idea for this song
When listening to music, I try to find as many ways possible to identify with the artist and the meaning behind the song being portrayed. It's much more meaningful that way and causes me to hold an extreme amount of value for music that I enjoy. Perhaps I interpreted your original comment incorrectly. However, after reading your reply to me, I understand much better than before and from a completely different point of view as well. Thank you guys. For you music and everything you do as a band.
"What ever God you believe in, we come from the same one." -Macklamore. This song was most likely meant to be "relatable" with no one direction. Just listen to the message it has to offer and take from it something to improve yourself. P.S. @Day Seeker, this song is so unique and amazing, keep up the style, I absolutely love the artisticness in this.
I love how when the vocalist screams its God talking and when he sings its him asking questions and saying he doesn't deserve him. Pretty cool way to make the song.
Truly the lyrics on this song made me thought about how close or far I am from my beliefs. I respect everyone else's opinion for what I have experience on my own flesh and bones. Time is the essence of an existence.
This song really makes me wonder what has happened or is happening in the vocalist's life spiritually. He obviously has some sort of christian background, because he uses phrases like "carry the cross" that are unique to christianity. My prayer for him is that he would begin to understand grace, that even though he may feel like he doesn't deserve anything, God sees him as someone extremely valuable and wanted.
I don't know if Rory even wrote this, but yeah, perhaps he had some sort of Christian background in his past. He's made it pretty clear he's not a Christian now, but in the one video, it sounds to me like Rory may have not even written this song. Perhaps, perhaps not. I don't know, I don't own the album yet, so I can't check to see who wrote this.
You don't need to be christian to write phrases like that. I've used that in many of my songs and i am everything but a believer. Neither do you have to be a believer to use or talk about the concept of a god in lyrics.
I understand that, but it's the last bit that particularly sounds like it comes from a Christian background. "Carry the cross until your bones break / It's never too late to change". The rest of it sounds like it could just come from a deist.
MMF makes me think of Dayseeker. Probably not technically considered a "Christian" band, but has Christian themes in the lyrics. And really all they do is use it as a way to make music, which is art. They make their art personalized. Truly amazing.
We paid for the lyric video before InVogue signed us, we feel it's a good way for fans to learn the lyrics and interpret the message in the way we'd prefer them to.

A man that knows true maturity wrote this song. Its so deep and understanding with a dynamic structure

A song hasn't given me the feels like this song just did in awhile.
This song speaks to me so much. I know you guys have said it's not a Christian song but that I what understand from it. It's my interpretation. I'm sorry to hear you're struggling. I'll pray for you.
Thank You very much!
No Ordinary Love by Memphis May Fire also spoke to me when I was feeling like that.
You feel like he's not there because he isn't there.
If that's what you think, then that's fine.
OK people, Christian or not, this song is powerful and as a Christian spoke to me. Not feeling good enough, failing God all the time, this song has so much truth and honesty in it. Wish more Christians would admit their shortcomings and stop being 'white washed tombs' as Jesus said.
Don't stop writing and making music Dayseeker, you're all so talented. I support you all 100%.

Haste The Day, Oh, Sleeper and these guys. I simply cannot stop listening to them.
YES! The continuation of Arms Like Yours. I loved that band so much and now they're back, at least to some extent.
controversy or not, god speaks love through you guys. continue to be unashamed.
This song is phenomenal!!! People are struggling with their faith because of the constant pressure and onslaught from the world, the end is near so the enemy is turning up the heat. We need to keep close to God to make it.
This song gave me so many chills. I'm really loving this band and this is only the second song I've heard from them.
I'm so glad they got signed. This is the success that Rory deserves
I'm an anti-theist and i can appreciate this. Even the non-religious have asked themselves if there was something/someone listening to them crying out.
This is the kind of music that pulls people through hard times, and i thank you for that.
just started listening to dayseeker and wow, they're a truly amazing band
i can't even handle how good and powerful this song is. This band is crazy good.
Although Dayseeker isn't a christian band, this music is awesome!
You don't need to be a christian to understand God, and this music tell some truths yet to be told to many people.
Excellent song and lyrics :D
All I have to say is WOW! Listening to this song for the first time, just blew me away. Amazing song. Looking forward to listening to their music.
this song is so inspiring, i cant believe that people judge this genre of music when obviously you can see that its not demonic. You guys are awesome cant wait to see you guys live!
Wow! Clean vocals are beautiful and screams amazing! Really love this!

Really deep lyrics that you can relate to very talented vocalist and one of the best songs for a very long time
I love how when the vocalist screams its God talking and when he sings its him asking questions and saying he doesn't deserve him. Pretty cool way to make the song.
Truly the lyrics on this song made me thought about how close or far I am from my beliefs. I respect everyone else's opinion for what I have experience on my own flesh and bones. Time is the essence of an existence.

Goosebumps. Every. Time.
Blah blah blah, point blank, the best song writing and the best vocals to come along in a VERY long time. Dayseeker is flat out amazing.

I didn't know they signed with Invogue! I love this band
MMF makes me think of Dayseeker. Probably not technically considered a "Christian" band, but has Christian themes in the lyrics. And really all they do is use it as a way to make music, which is art. They make their art personalized. Truly amazing.
OH MY GOSH THE CLEAN VOCALIST IS FROM ARMS LIKE YOURS YES.
