- Aquascape has a new koi and fish retail area to showcase our gorgeous new Japanese koi. Today I'm sharing how I created a koi window for the indoor pond so the fish are easier to see and enjoy!

When you guys first started this project, I left the message on the Team Aquascape channel asking if you were going to put in a viewing panel. I was told that people don't view koi from the side. People view koi from the top. That actually made sense. But, I should have known better. You guys just couldn't resist. There it is - SIDE VIEW 🤣
Great job Ed!
Great job! Children are gonna love that viewing window!
Linda Leslie Thanks!
I can’t wait to see our guests interacting with our features......

Sherry Turner Thanks Sherry!
Awesome job. I am curious what thickness the glass is,
or if there is a calculation to work out the thickness required for the capacity of the pond?
Thank you for showing us that! This is a dream of mine... Want to recreate!
Nick The Pond King Awesome!!!
Perfect thing to put this gorgeous project over the top! Cannot wait to be able to come see it!
Awesome work
Russell Owen Thanks!
I have watched this video a number of times now as well as whole bunch more.
I am so sorry I only now found out about Aquascape now and not 20 years ago when I started my ponds and work on my backyard
If i would pull out one hair at the time for every issue I have had I would be looking as good as the professor
I am thoroughly impressed with all the work I have seen so far
And to think I only found out about you is because I researched Koi Windows on line
Now there are 2 projects on my agenda
Get a wetland filter for my outside ponds and start seriously thinking about using my abandoned inside pool for a Koi pond with windows in a sub tropical setting since being in Quebec the outside ponds can only be enjoyed for half of the year so to be able and look at our Koi could soon be year round pastime
I enjoy all your great videos
Hans van Akkeren
Thanks for your support Hans!
I wish we would’ve connected earlier too!
We have an office outside of Toronto and I always enjoy building in Canada!
Good luck with your upcoming projects......
@@EdThePondProfessor after 5 days still watching videos and on top of that , since I could not find a place to buy your famous bible I downloaded all chapters and boy oh boy am i finding out what I did wrong when I needed to replace my old vinyl liners after 18 years still reading and learning
Mr. Ed the name Beaulieu perfectly depicts your personality and outlook on life and connection to nature

Ed Beaulieu hey Ed I was wondering if you could help me out with an issue ,I’m building an above ground pond in my back yard I don’t have much space but I have a small 400 gallon blue tank that I have been growing koi in and it is getting pretty hot in the afternoons and that heat stays till about 9 or 10 pm then it starts cooling down I have instilled a sprayer and a sail shade which helps my question is what can I doing to keep the big pond I’m about to build cooler , the pond will be built on top of concrete 18x18 pavers I was planning on removing only the pavers that will be at bottom of the inside of the pond or will 1inch insulation help with heat transfer, I am installing a 3”bottom drain to an eazypod then a 10000 liter varipump to a UV then to a aquascape bio falls , pond size is 10feetx6feetx3.5feet deep with a west facing 25mm laminated window , please help any recommendations will be appreciated thanks ,
Omg I love this
QueAquatics Thank you!
Awesome! Thanks for sharing, I need to do exactly that myself.
Looks great..👍
Fantastic work Ed 😆
I love your job🤜
G’day Ed Greg Brian Aquascape teams & Co ;-) beautiful view with a job done well!
Next time after thoroughly cleaning and priming the glass surface you could use masking painters blue tape on the glass to get a crisp sharp clean edge with a straight line every time with no smearing or product thinning.
But the finished job timber slate or tile just may cover the smeared silicone.
Now you can put in a raised glass fish tower too.....
I can see a basement window being installed in to the outside mega pond next....
With many source blessings with love light laughter joy fun play happiness creativity adventures and may peace be with you all!
Victoria Australia xoxo
💓 Love the pond ! that's slap ass AWESOME ....
🙏🙏🙏
I think this was a great addition for koi viewing. Just curious though, why did you build the pond, fill it, put fish in, then drain it and install the window. Why not put the window in when the pond was being built?
Amazing work guys 👍🏼🇸🇪♥️.
Is it only one sheet of toughened glas ?
Awesomeness
Its nice,Ed..but,Viktor in Florida did a 25,000 gallon with one solid acrylic wall.
Engineer Ed! :D
Jaxsta001 Water feature design and installation requires some engineering......
What thickness glass did you use,and was it laminated or toughened?
I have a question
I found a 1” thick 60”x36” glass for a window for my pond I want to build. Glass is in good condition it’s not crack or scratch the only concern I have is that this glass was used as a coffee table. What do you recommend should I used it or not? It’s $200
My pond it’s only going to be under 1400 gallons
That should work great!!!
@@EdThePondProfessor thank you
@@EdThePondProfessor, hello. I have a similar question to this one. I am tearing done a 180 gallon glass saltwater tank. I am thinking about cutting the seams and using a panel as a viewing window for an outside pond. The pond is 5 foot wide, 6 feet long, and 7 feet deep and made out of cinder blocks. Do you think using steel frames plates and sealer that this will work?
How thick is the window
And what type of glass was it
Hi
Can HDPE be used for wooden pond with window.
It’s my first pond
Thx
Yes,
It’s more difficult to work with(not as flexible as EPDM) but it will work.
If it’s your first one be careful and take your time.
@@EdThePondProfessor I'm building a pond with a wooden frame for my arowana . Which one will be better EPDM OR HDPE
EPDM is easier to work with
@@EdThePondProfessor will it last and is it puncture resistant. I'm using polystyrene instead of underlayment fabric .Pond is 8feet by 90 cm deep by 120 cm wide. What thickness do I need
Yes,
Very puncture resistant,
Underlayment acts as a great barrier and increases the load bearing capacity of the liner.
I’d recommend 45 mil or 60 mil EPDM
Why did you not use wolmanized lumber? The rest of the tank is it.
steve647my The main structural components of the tank should never get wet
the fish are sooo beutafull i want one
What type of glass and how thick is it , thanks
Hi what thickness glass is it
3/4” Glass
@@EdThePondProfessor thx a lot👍👍
why you always use gravel at the bottom of the pond?
now you see me It’s an important part of the biology of the system
How much for the glass kit
How many gallons is this pond & how many Koi make it their home lol
is there anything you can't do??? WOW
✌🏼
ED .... THE CYCLE does NOT live in the water column it lives on the surfaces and in the filters please stop saying that. Other than that keep up good work.
Dan L Agreed!
Too much talking
