Peter, Meika, and Bec- a triumvirate that never fails to educate and entertain. Sorry to say this, but you never need another model other than her to make the most fantastic videos. Merry Christmas to you all. ..Joe
What a refreshing video with Meika. Really great chemisty between you too and she seems much more confident in what she wants and does. Great shots as well!
That was an amazing reaction, just talking to her and not pushing her, just lit her face up and made her VERY relaxed. Like the Pink Floyd The Wall jacket 👍
I've seen tons of photos of Meika, but I didn't realize how sweet she seems. I really like seeing the interaction between the two of you, also. My goal is to have such a great working relationship with models.
Next level creativity Peter, Meika and Bec, I had serious goose bumps. Master Class as usual Peter &Bec Thank You❤ and compliments of the season.👏👏👏🫶🇳🇿❤️🙏
Great to watch you work and interact - so much more useful than 'the usual' videos focusing on unimportant technical details! I too am moving more and more to constant lighting (as powerful enough constant lights have become more affordable) - the other bonus in addition to pre-vis is being able to create videos as well with the same set-up saving a lot of time!
That last Portra shot was probably my favourite of all of them. Perfectly timed! Also love the sweet chemistry between the two of you - it even made me smile. Thanks for another wonderful video. Cheers!
Wonderful video Peter. Very natural flow with Meika. We just shot two days on the sunscreen campaign in our studio with constant lighting as we were also shooting video for the Tradeshow reel in the same session. It worked out well and I think it helps the newer models flow and drift a bit more instead of reacting or anticipating the pop of the strobes.
I'm always amazed to see eyes like Meika's and Bec's. Stellar rapport between the artist and the model. Thanks for sharing! Peter, you really capture the essence and nature of the models - a gift and talent, but also honed with much experience.
i like the whole effect with longer lenses, both the added "space" for the subject's comfort, and the slight "flattening", plus, of course, depth of field...i used to have a 200 mm imagine....sigh...on my 6x7 i use the 165/2.8, or 300/4.0 nice to see your "translation" among the different looks, and helping your "client" understand more of the process, and, actually, getting her confidence in "her" look...
Really like how you support and increase the confidence of young people and I even more liked it when you shoot the last pictures at traditional film! To phrase you: stunning!!
The good ol' Mamiya RB67, what a boat anchor they were! I went from a Mamiya twin lens to one of those, and then a Hasselblad 503. It was just to heavy to lug around doing weddings. I was surprised at just how soft the RB was in the video. We really have moved on with sharpness. Nice shoot too... Have a great silly season.
Another great lighting tutorial and motivator to try a variety of lighting instruments and positioning. Of course, having so beautiful a model is a big plus.
"The very handsome neighbour look" excellent captured. Always have a bit of a laugh when you explain that super sharp is not the goal and then proof it with an amazing shot By default I have all the sharping switch off in my RAW editor, basically it is only useful when you print (when needed), totally get your opinion. Must be fun working with her, you always get the best out of the models like no one else can. Great job Peter, a joy to watch and thanks again for sharing.
Brilliant ! Never fails to amaze me how stunning your images turn out. Meika has grown soooo much since I first saw her on your channel. Happy Holidays to all of you ! Cheers
First of all, Meika is so cool! I love her look as Peter elicits her response. When you were talking about Taylor Swift she changed immediately, same with her favorite place. Thanks so much, Merry Christmas 🎄
Peter, another XLNT video! Really enjoy how you and the Model communicate between every frame about what you both are wanting. ALSO very happy to see you use the RB67 Beast along with your usual atomic powered cameras. 🙂 Jim from Las Vegas, NV.
I remember some of Meika's earliest shoots/videos. This one is really cool, and interesting, and the added Film shots at the end. Quote "When Peter Lindbergh took a group shot of five models in New York’s Meatpacking district in 1989, he didn’t know he was anointing them as the definitive beauties of the decade. The women were Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangelista, Tatjana Patitz, Christy Turlington, and Cindy Crawford. Though the models were known in the fashion world, their ascension to pop culture stardom began in front of Lindbergh’s lens." Well Mekia's Ascension started with Peter Coulson. Also Reminds of the Linda Evangelista Photographed by Steven Meisel which made her famous, and coined a phrase “get out of bed for less than $10,000 a day.”
Sitting at my desk working from home trying to watch but listening to the video and all of the sudden i hear a different camera shutter sound. Whoa a Mamiya RB67 on deck...nice. Great instructions on how to set up the shot using the film camera. I definitely learned something today.
Every time I watch your videos, I learn something new! Even when you seem to be doing the same things on abstract level, paying attention to the details, reveals a whole bug of new tricks each time! Thank you, and I wish to all of you a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year!
You're the Master, Peter. Everything I've been taught, is your second nature. I love your process. It leans more toward acting and filmmaking, than still photography. The final picture you shared, expressed a transformation. It's interesting to see the masks we wear and how you break them down, to portray your desired look. This session really highlighted that skill, because you gave all the decisions to Meika, apart from the inner motivation/ dialogue. Technical ability aside, the way you draw out personality is how we see you in the photos. On the technical side, using the floor for fill and balance, was incredibly economical and effective. That's a new trick to add to my bag. Thank you. I really enjoyed this one. Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! 🙏🎁🎄🎅🌞
If I had to only shoot with Bec and Meika for the rest of my life, I'd die a very happy man. Peter, I'm so looking forward to you guys coming back to the states next year, but please make it before the election, things might get a little crazy over here.
«The more she wears her own look, the more she becomes unique» «Its true - Mika» «When you try do add a pose, it does'nt work» That's the essence of portrait photography for me. Thanks for that great lesson. Happy Holidays 🎉
Great to see you shooting film Peter. The RB and RZ are more studio friendly vs the old Hassys. (Sorry i'm a behind on your vids). Meika is definitely film worthy! :)
Thanks Matt. Yes, the RB is my Studio film camera and I like the M3 and the 503 for outdoor use, hope you have an awesome Christmas and catch you in the New Year
And, the dolt that I am, I should have added how good/interesting/cool this shot was, the interactions, the lighting setups...I really took note of the 'floor bounce' that beautifully sculpts the chin and neck.
Great models on this channel, video, and tethering software. Something to consider if having client in studio to review photos. Thanks for the refresher course on editing photos.
this was the highlight of my week. thanks for dropping it when you did. yeah, ill get to your last 3 podcasts at work this weekend (7 on - 7 off and 12 hours so LOTS of time to watch/listen) is that Meika's mom in the background at 11:08-ish? just back there reading an old magazine like waiting for a dentist appointment...
Getting the authentic expression and pose, and away from the commercial looks, getting that genuine from-the-heart looks completely changes the images. On the processing, and keeping what's done as minimal as possible,.. vs redrawing everything in photoshop,... Never understood why one would hire a model for that models look and features, and then change everything in software afterward, it'd be like hiring Marylin Monroe and redrawing to look like Sophia Loren.
Many thanks for this new BTS video. @B: Many thanks for recording this session. It's a pleasure to see you again on the screen. Never forget that a new year always bring us amazing experiences, and in a few days time we will have it. @M: Many thanks for posing in this session. Many thanks for sharing. I wonder why you like the photograph with the big space on top; is that space to write dedicated words to your fans, or to indicate that there’s so much you want to say,…? @P: Many thanks for showing how to star photographing with a Model where she guides. I would like to know if photographers like to be guided by Models, or the other way around. Very interesting the sharpening exercise on the face. @B&@M&@P: Take good care of yourself!
I read somewhere, that's eye catch light on the bottom was awkward. Well, it passes perfectly to have the tiny upper and larger bottom light in the eye. I don't know what Peter's opinion would be about the catch light in the eyes. Interesting topic.
this is the powder we used to take shine off models faces, it is also sometimes called setting powder. This is the brand we use is www.makeupatelier.fr/en/hd-loose-powder-24g-1904.html but here’s an alternative from Sephora www.sephora.com/product/lock-it-setting-powder-P409988?skuId=1822204&icid2=products%20grid:p409988:product
This is great, and Meika is so pretty....but it's clear that it's tough for her to get out of her "posey/model" mindset when that's prob what she does, 90% of the time. Getting a shot in that moment she's not is the challenge! (Having said that...the posey stuff is still fantastic).
Peter, because you were shooting with HMI lights what was your camera settings when you were shooting digital. Why did you decide to finish off the shoot and shoot film?

Every Peter Coulson video is a priceless piece of education. Always great to see Meika and Bec!
Thank you
Thank you for video! And special respect for film camera!!!

You can literally see her bring it all in with her eyes…the focus…
Spot on Peter as always.. I especially like the interaction and conversation here between you and the model.

What a refreshing video with Meika. Really great chemisty between you too and she seems much more confident in what she wants and does. Great shots as well!
Thank you so much!
Peter, the way you empower the model is amazing and it was great to see Meika to take that and make the picture her.
Thank you
Meika is such a sweetheart! Always lovely to see her on set!
Your interaction with your model is perfect. Grooming your client as you provide direction is refreshing to see. Enjoyed your photo session.
Agreed on that, but just wish he could tone down the flattery a bit, since it becomes an annoyance. Other than that, this was pretty good.
Thank you so much!
One of my fav videos, she has such a natural beautiful look and you can tell she is a sweetheart of a young lady!
Thank you
She really is an amazing model. I lover her expression.
Meika is so beyond beautiful. and luv that you are actually chatting with her, beauty just shines more when we hear her voice & expressions.
Yes Meika is awesome
Geez Peter, are you the luckiest photographer in the world? Your photography and Meika's looks - WOW!
Thanks
More Meika but also more film pictures if you could. Pretty sensational stuff!
Super how you tookMeika's ideas and then enhanced her output with your mentoring. She really got it. Great leasson/Session Peter.

Peter. Have you ever used wedding dress fabric as a defusion material. It has a soft yet specular look.
Yes white silk is amazing

Great video! May I ask whatus the size of the box she is sitting on?
600 mm x 600mm
Was that the Mamiya RB67 you pulled out at the end Peter or was that an RZ?
RB67

Which film camera did you use?
Mamiya RB67 in the description
I got a question peter what is that white background Meika is setting in front of? And who makes them?
Its a cyclorama, all professional photography studios have them
Hey Peter, what are the dimensions of the box Meagan is sitting on? Thank you.
600 x 600 x 600mm
This is great, and Meika is so pretty....but it's clear that it's tough for her to get out of her "posey/model" mindset when that's prob what she does, 90% of the time. Getting a shot in that moment she's not is the challenge! (Having said that...the posey stuff is still fantastic).
Thanks heaps, yes Meika does commercial modelling every day so it is very hard for her to break out of it
Peter, because you were shooting with HMI lights what was your camera settings when you were shooting digital. Why did you decide to finish off the shoot and shoot film?
The settings are in the description and they get lots of people say they want to see me shoot film
The last three frames of the film shot on the Mamiya RB, did you shoot it at box speed or did you push it?
box speed + 2/3 rds of a stop
@@PeterCoulsonPhotographer Thank you! I’m glad to see you firing off some frames. Would love to see more of that
coming soon
How do you make the floor and the walls come in like one? No joins showing?
It's a cyclorama
@@PeterCoulsonPhotographer . Thank you for that I found that very interesting.
If I ever meet Peter in the flesh I want give him the highest of ❤high fives

What was the translucent powder you added to her forhead. Was that an actual make up powder?
Yes translucent makeup powder
the generational conflict about the sharpness if funny to watch :D
Yes I agree
