- I've never known how to take breaks but I'm gonna try and figure it out I guess??
thanks for all of the support over the past few years, I can tell you with confidence this isn't the last you'll see of me ... just need some time to enjoy the hobby on my own time and not stress so much about algorithms/mistakes/the process/posting all the time & all of that good stuff I've been dealing with behind the scenes. I know myself in that I won't stop making things over this break, but the stuff I make might just be for myself ... we'll see! for now, I'll probably be more active on the gaming channel and shit posting on socials when I'm feelin' it

still have no clue what a "break" even means for me but we'll work through it together. taking breaks is a GOOD THING!

I've been following you for quite a while as I've been slowly making a Mandalorian costume, which started out as a coping mechanism for me. Every time I got depressed over the costume I'd watch one of your vids talking about your journey and it would help and motivate me. You have been more helpful to me then I can put into words. The costume is going to "premiere" at the Denver Pop Culture Con at end of June, and it truly wouldn't have been possible without your inspiration, so thank you again. You are a HUGE inspiration but your health and well being are super important . So calmly take a break knowing that you have lots of fans who only want the best for you. Sounds corny but it's true. thank you so, SO much for letting me know :) honestly this is the stuff that keeps me coming back and why I know I won't be gone forever! I know exactly what it's like to use a costume project as a coping mechanism and it's probably why I'm taking a break now after like ... a dozen projects that felt like that lol ... but I am super proud to hear you got it done and hope you have an amazing time at the convention!
I don’t have a lot of social media accounts, but I will try and post photos of the costume on Instagram and try and share them with you when they’re done.

This whole UA-cam thing can be maddening. I ran a channel for a long time under another account and at first I absolutely loved the creative side of things. But it didn’t take long before I felt like I was falling into the rat race of trying to appease the UA-cam algorithm. I took a break (still on that break) and it was the best thing. Good for you for recognizing you need this and for sharing it with us. Not many people understand how stressful and soul gutting running a channel can be. ❤

I love taking a major break in the world of cosplay making. No harm in stepping back and taking a breath.

First I hope the break does you good, sounds like the hyperfocus broke. Maybe related to the meds (not sure as I am not on any, yet) maybe it was just due. Either way I'll be around when/if you come back. Be that in a month, 6, a year.
I've done a couple of things where the hobby became something more, and it ruined them. I just lost all drive and interest as I needed to get that thing done, and I needed to make it to x standard and I then had to people to get it out the door. Then what if they got it and there was a problem, what if I have to pay for it to be returned to fix it. I never really got to enjoy the little money I made from it, and it also robbed me of the enjoyment of making then.
I am really trying hard NOT to let this happen with cosplay. I already have stupid unobtainable standards, so much stuff that never made the cut but was in reality totally fine, I don't need to open my self up to something else like unsolicited feedback or social media content grinding.
My costumes happen in bursts, thanks ADHD. I just finished something I started in 2017 and I was hoping this rush would carry into the the next part for that costume, but I can already feel the dopamine is gone. Maybe next year I guess. I still have the single costume I ever finished, I still have the mountain of shame I can poke at. Or maybe I'll just go mow the lawn or something.
Look after your self. I'll be here when you want to do this again.
HAHAHA I never skip these relatable stories!!! Might just take me a bit to respond back cause I wanna give you back the same time you put in :) But yeah, I know under it all that *I* made those costumes + projects happen but it's also pretty obvious to me now that I got them all done so quickly due to hyperfocus. I related SO MUCH to you talking about how when a hobby becomes "something more" it robs the fun because I saw this happening like ... two years ago so taking this break is my way of saying ... yeah, this isn't happening with cosplay. I've burnt out this way with SO MANY THINGS in the past but this time around is different ... I can see what's happening and know when to step back for a bit, as tough as it is to not just constantly be doing or making something!
Taking breaks is very much a good thing! Please do look after yourself. I will of course enjoy seeing you whenever you feel like sharing something, but... Hmm. I think the reason I enjoy your channel is that it feels like I'm hanging out with a friend taking about things we share an enthusiasm for while we both work on projects. Obviously we're not actually friends and you don't know me from a hole in the ground, I'm just saying that's the kind of vibe I get from your videos, and it's what I enjoy. The actual finished projects are cool AF, yes, but I just like the hobby hangout time, y'know? And it's just not the same if you're doing awesome work but not enjoying it. So, whenever you feel like coming back, I'll be here; and in the meantime, look after yourself and I hope you find your enthusiasm reinvigorated.
(Irrelevant side notes: I was going to comment on hyperfocus but you beat me to it. 😝 And your shirt is delightful! Does it match the actual colour?)
thank you so much, trying to practice what I preach and *try* the break thing for real lol ... I do appreciate your comment so much though because that's the vibe I've been trying to go for over here the past few years. I do enjoy just talking about this hobby and all the random stuff we go though to make costumes, just need to get over some weird hangups that have cropped up over the years! and yes, the shirt does match Caliban Green (tho I wish they had a Moss Green one tbh!!!)

I hear ya. Before I quit Facebook I took away all ability for anyone to post or comment on my stuff because of negativity. Silver lining though if you wanna keep sharing stuff maybe get off UA-cam and move to platforms that you can remove the comment section from. Anyway good luck to you
Thank you for the emphasis on not being perfect. The pressure to have things look perfect is insane. I’m a beginner. I’m not super creative but I’m having fun learning. You and your videos are such an inspiration and I love your honesty. Taking a break is never bad!

take whatever time you need, whatever format your videos take in the future, i'll be here for it. you have a really passionate style and it's fun to watch, fun to listen to you talk, and whatever you do i'm down to watch it :D

It's okay to take a break from a hobby or something, take a step back do other things it's okay to have other interests and if you miss it you'll come back to it in time. But the most important thing is you t take care of yourself.
Just found your channel not to long ago I love the videos.. I'm slowly putting a mandalorian armor together , your vids have been a godsend hahaha soon I want to get a 3d printer ahhhh!!! keep up all the great work and you do you girl haha sending all the love and good vibes your way!!!!
I've been feeling the same. I got side tracked by all of these Marvel projects and each time something came out, I would try to make a cosplay piece to get Marvel's attention so I can get in the premieres as a cosplayer. Now I'm completely focused on the projects that make me happy. I think everything in moderation. I'm also an actor so when I'm tired of cosplay, I go back to acting. It's completely normal to have more than one interest :)

I am no where near your size or accomplished the cosplays you have but have been feeling this myself lately with one video in the last 6 months or so. Lots of mine has been so much going on with life and kids that this has had to take a back seat.
Go and enjoy your games and other hobby for just the joy of doing them. I always go to games, lego and at the moment diamond dots as I feel I don't have to think about them. Enjoy your break and see you when you get back.
It’s simple, trust your intuition and if a hobby becomes a stress instead of a release from our day to day, hit the pause button and come back when you miss it. :)

To learn that I need to take breaks was one of the things that saved my life during Covid hardest moments.
You do deserve to rest, to breathe and take things slowly!

Thank YOU so much for your support, I really do appreciate it! I wish I had taken more breaks during 2020-21 but that's when my brain was like ... make things!!! you have control over that! annnnnnd now I'm here three years later finally processing that taking a break is a good thing, actually :)
Just make shorts. They don’t have to be new. Just take little detail from a video.
that's not the direction I want to take the channel ... I get that you're only trying to help, but the whole purpose of this video was to talk about how I'm tired of the pressure to constantly be posting and creating content in general at the expense of my actual enjoyment of the hobby .... just making shorts isn't the fix you think it is.
