Great video! Finally someone with information on this much neglected subject. I just ordered a custom J bass style 30" scale tuned E-E with 14mm string spacing and 2" nut. I think these dimensions will be much more ideal for this instrument than the original bass vi spacing. Such a great tuning, I'm surprised that out of all the instruments you mentioned only the Hooky Bass vi pro has the same spacing I was looking for. I also have a Vader 6 and it is great but there was no leeway with Kiesel to do anything but the 16.5mm spacing at the bridge. Do those Stringjoy strings you got have small bass vi ball ends or regular sized bass ball ends? The Kiesel only seems to be able to fit regular bass sized ball ends.
Thanks, Michael! I agree the Kiesel isn't ideal and I wish the string spacing was a bit tighter. Here's the worse part, the bridge they use clamps down on the ball end for tuning and they all accept bass size ball ends except the high e string, which is a guitar size ball end. I have to order custom strings from Stringjoy to make it work. They didn't explain this to me during the order so I was pretty disappointed. I hope the J bass you ordered works out, it sounds perfect!
@@shahriarrahman7618 I don't think they would. I mention in the video that I have set up a 34" scale 6 string with E to E before but I broke a few high E strings before I figured out the gauge, the string tension is just too high. That's why most E to E six string basses are made as 30 or 32" scale. Thanks!
Harley benton has a bass called a GuitarBass VS which is an extremely cheap version i’ve heard good things about it
Here's a link to that one, thanks! harleybenton.com/product/guitarbass-vs/
I enjoy playing my 6 string bass made by Pipedream Fretworks. Checkout the Chopped 6 which is a short scale bass tuned E to E 👍🏻
Those are very cool looking, boutique style basses! Thanks for watching🤘🏼
i love that a guitarist can buy this and after some adjusting, play it perfectly and caall him self a bass player ..

Thanks!
I'll let you know how it goes.
What strings are you using for tuning?
Thanks for watching! I'm using a custom set of Stringjoy strings 95, 75, 55, 45, 35, 26.
Would those strings be good for a 37-34.5 scaled bass?

Fender 24-100 Gauge Strings would be cool
