I always loved that they chose to add a Cave Bear as one of the prehistoric fauna on Skull Island, it shows that it’s not just a haven for dinosaurs but prehistoric mammals as well.
I actually enjoyed this film despite its rushed production. OK the story isn't as good as the first film, but its an entertaining little film, more comedic though. This is a great sequence and I believe one of the Kong puppets was 'refurred' to make the little fella.
@@koopapoopypanya9485 Well, Godzilla Jr. pretty much fought his own 1-on-1 battle with Destroyah on his own and he almost died once by being dropped on a building and blasted, so G Jr's okay.
This is the kind of movie that I'd consider as "I like but everyone else hates". I like how Kiko can do things all by himself, proving that he indeed does not need the helps of his parents. Also, the ending scene of this movie is REALLY DARK. Kiko actually shouts "mommy" while the Skull Island is sinking, knowing that his mom doesn't exist anymore, as he's the last of his kind. This is a really dark way to end a 'childish' sequel
Willis O'Brien & the RKO art dept made the best jungle scenes I've ever seen in a movie! The layering, the undergrowth, and the lighting techniques between each plane of the jungle settings are still better than anything made today! Skull Island just looks like the most amazing prehistoric jungle setting ever. Peter Jackson attempted to recreate it in 2005, but even he ultimately failed also. He was correct about the formula being the Doré style dark-to-light foreground lighting, and painted mattes in the background. But he forgot one important element: the perma-canopy. The consistent width of the vine-choked tree trunks & the consistent height of their branches created a "tunnel effect"; giving viewers the impression that this deep, dark jungle just stretched onwards into infinity. The reason the 1933 Skull Island looks so fantastic is because it looks like someone took a giant boring rig that you'd use to tunnel through mountains or bedrock, but used it on this dense, claustrophobic jungle island instead. You can't achieve the same effect that RKO did by using normal jungle trees & bushes the way the 1976, 2005, and 2017 (Kong: Skull Island) movies did. You have to tailor them to the camera as well by making the trees gigantic also. Until Hollywood rediscovers this lost knowledge, we will never see this same unique jungle setting in a movie duplicated, unfortunately.
2005 ultimately failed? Absolutely not. It recreated this exact look faithfully and pulled off using practicals. The depth you speak is present in many shots. I do agree on Skull Island 2017, the jungle was weak.
In defense of kong:skull island it wasn’t meant to be a remake of the original like in 1976 and 2005 And it’s environment was meant to be more similar to Vietnam since the movie had a more Vietnam war tone (heck parts of it were even filmed in Vietnam alongside Australia and Hawaii)
The Giant bear, stills surprising me. Despite about Dinosaurs, reptiles and Giant insects with tentacles, Kong and his Son were not the only mammals. I'm happy about it.
I love how theres a deep lore to Kong’s species and their history on Skull Island in most versions and we accept giant apes with dinosaurs. And then theres just this fucking giant bear like “oh hai guys”.
This is one of the scenes of Son of Kong movie. It's same size with Mighty Joe. Son of Kong fighting cave bear. The cave bears releated to grizzly bears and modern brown bears it's bigger than today's biggest bear the polar bear. In first round Son of Kong wins the fight by knocking adult cave bear and in second round cave bear gives up. Son of Kong almost knocked out when cave bear pushed him to rocks when he falled on his back.
Man if Baby Kong had managed to kill that bear and if the island hadn't sunk at the end of the movie that bear would have made one hell of a bear skin rug.
Now they had dinosaurs on skull island with giant insects & bats from the 2005 film of king kong, and they had a giant snake in animated musical of the mighty kong (1998). But now they have a cave bear.
He planned a project called "The Last of the Oso Si-Papu", which involved a huge bear like creature. A model and a few watercolour concept paintings were made, but nothing else.
That was so nice of the bear to not take advantage of kong jr hitting his head on the rock. Instead of finishing him off he let him come back to his senses and get up.
That is cool. But, before special effects, they used models of creatures made up of substances. Then, the ones who made that, they animate it by using a camera. After, they make it look like it's real. But, the creatures only use it for a few frames. I still like how awesome the video was. Thank you!
And other thing is why they didn't done new Son of Kong movie. The guy who made 2005 King Kong movie should done new Son of Kong movie and every King Kong and monster movie fans will think how is looks like or finds out this classic Son of Kong movie, 1933 King Kong movie and 2005 King Kong movie with new Son of Kong movie if they did make one.
No remake would ever top the original, pal the original 1933 king kong is still the best version, dont care what the cost of all the remakes where their is no comparison, but you just dont see this, all in all the acting, music score, scenery was remarkable considering that sound movies had been out for less than 5 years.you made a dumb opinion, sometimes its better not to say anything than to sound foolish hungfao.
I love how Kong Jr. just kind of starts talking to them after he knocks the Bear out
It look ridiculous and cute at the same time.
"Oh my hand....look guys I got em! Everything is under contro...ohhhh shit *bear attacks*"
He was asking Denham why he was standing there like an idiot and not shooting the damn bear with the rifle in his hand!
😆
Kinda like He’s explaining the situation
I always loved that they chose to add a Cave Bear as one of the prehistoric fauna on Skull Island, it shows that it’s not just a haven for dinosaurs but prehistoric mammals as well.
Yeah, it cool, but I would like to see also glyptodon, megatherium and deinotherium.
Maybe in a future MonsterVerse film, Suko will fight a bear-like creature to pay homage to this scene.
I liked how kiko was using real world mma to fight here, it was kinda cool
That's mostly based on Willis O'Brien's own experiences as a fighter.

1:46 I love that quick roll Kongs son does to escape from the Bear.
One thing Kong jr. has on Minilla is that he didn't need daddy coming to rescue constantly
Minilla couldn't shoot atomic breath yet and the other monsters were like twice his size!
He's gotta fight his own battles, you know?
And Kong jr is actually cute compared to Minilla
@@koopapoopypanya9485 Well, Godzilla Jr. pretty much fought his own 1-on-1 battle with Destroyah on his own and he almost died once by being dropped on a building and blasted, so G Jr's okay.
I don’t Know!
This was always one of my favorite giant animal fights ever. And he used an arm-bar on the bear to get him to submit. Cool stuff!
It look like at one point he was trying to get the bear in a Kumra .

My only problem with the movie is that the "Son of Kong" part of the movie didn't happen until the last 20 minutes.

The best jungle scenes in any movie has to be Predator 1987
Skull Island and 2005 Kong had phenomenal jungle renders. I don't understand what you're talking about.
2005 ultimately failed? Absolutely not. It recreated this exact look faithfully and pulled off using practicals. The depth you speak is present in many shots. I do agree on Skull Island 2017, the jungle was weak.

I love that little Kong showed no fear and took on a bigger opponent.
We need this battle in Kong Skull Island
