I’ve been anxious with my new 3.5 tonne driver job… watching you drive these huge vehicles with what seems like ease… just amazes me. It gives me confidence even though I’m driving such a smaller vehicle. Some roads you go down I couldn’t even imagine in a long van!
Many years ago a wagon turned up to a company in Burnley and his load was refused. So he parked his trailer sideways across the gates and refused to let anyone in or out. I didn't stick around long enough to find out what eventually happened.
I've had loads refused, usually because the consignor duplicated the order. The terms of carriage usually applies and the consignor usually has to pay for the return of the load anyway but some Companies insure the jobs for just such a problem. It may however mean cancelling any backloads or other work unless the consignor sells it somewhere local. Not a problem. We'll, not your problem. Just remembered, I had a delivery refused at Rolls Royce in Derby, just because I hadn't got their regulation ppe on. The consignor told me to hand it to a local delivery which I did, and, they were refused too. A guy called Thompson in charge of logistics who thought he was a dictator tyrant of some taxpayer funded corporation (probably true with the number of times Rolls Royce has been bailed out by the taxpayers savings it from bankruptcy) who devised the draconian rules.
You need to ask for more ratchet straps, you cannot use the black straps on those back pallets, anything over 400kg MUST be secured with a ratchet strap, not internals, and it isnt a positive fit there is a gap between the back pallets and the back doors. If this was your only option and you wanted to crack on with the job I would have used the black straps on the front 2 pallets and used the ratchets on the rear ones, at least it would look like the full load was properly strapped if DVSA asked you to open your back doors.
@@truckinguk Maltodextrose 16 bags multiplied by 25kg = 400kg then you have the actual weight of the wooden pallet which will take it above 400kg so the total weight of that the goods and the wooden pallet need to be considered...ratchet strap required!!! EDIT....I just checked the video on 4k and there are 20 bags of maltodex on that back pallet plus 5 bags of silicon dioxide weighing 15kg per bag that pallet is 575kg , its your licence buddy!
You were really unlucky there mate. FLT drivers are well known for their amazing can do attitudes and a nothing is too much trouble way of problem solving. Really unusual that at 3.30pm the forklift driver was unable to tip, they are always happy to get off their arses and do do the job they get paid for. no matter how inconvenient. That was a twenty minute tip and meant a night in the yard and a manager having to rearrange the schedule for the next day. at 3.30pm!!! FFS..
this happens in trucking one arsehole decides your not getting home, I've seen it so many times in fifty years of lorry driving, nothing people are given a little power and they make your life difficult.

Love watching how you drivers make driving these huge motors look so easy. Chris

Pull down ratchets are loads better aren’t they you can hook the ratchets under to the body
Also invest in a tight tug
You right mate they are so much better
Tight tug???
One of these mate I’ve got one an it’s great if you want to really tighten your load
Bro are you driving company truck or your own truck
Company mate, I wish I could afford my own truck 😂
Embarrassed for you! 🤦🏻♂️
