His style is very unique...you can easily tell a piece from him

Usually the legs...I don't know what the man has against drawing legs but look through some of the superman covers and artwork.
I know it doesn't appeal to everyone, but I love his work, there's something so striking about it, it's so different to the norm, plus he was my introduction to spider-man.
I get he is trying his own style to stick out but its some of the proportion and foreshortening tends to be noticeably off. I hate to be the one to say it but I think he gets his perks from riding his father's coat-tails.
One of the best artists? Umm no..Jr Jr is just barely passable most of the time, but is also responsible for some of the worst art in comics in ever. Just look at that Batman he just sketched..TERRIBLE.

I can't find the appeal in his art. It's just so bland. Everyone's face is so flat. He is one of my least favorite artists
I also find a lot of his poses and action to be pretty stiff and rigid looking.

Man I miss the Romita Jr from the late 90s and early 2000s he have a lot of amazing panels but from that now in the present his draws start to feel lazy and with not the same amount of dedication. And probably the last thing he draw that likes me was the cover for amazing Spider-Man #600. Where Spider-Man looks incredible with the buildings behind him.
Watching movies is great advice because you are basically storyboarding when your drawing comics. I believe some comic artist would make good Movie directors or cinematographer.
A consummate professional, and a far better draftsman than he's given credit for. For years, I couldn't get past the aesthetics of his work...it just appeared too outwardly ugly for me to understand why he was consistently hired on the biggest books in the industry. As I learned more about storytelling and rendering, however, I grew to appreciate the economy of his use of line. He uses as few lines as possible to communicate the story; while this may seem like "cheating", it's effective in keeping the narrative clean and it requires a selectivity that's. far more difficult than fully rendering scenes. Sure, some of the faces he draws aren't pleasant to look at, but you could malign some of the individual drawings of Kirby and Gil Kane on those same grounds.
His updated style from the 90s; while it is Unique and thus separates him from the Marvel "House Style" it is polarizing though. Ultimately, I don't like it. For example, I didn't like Uncanny X-Men 304 compared with X-men 25 in Fatal Attractions. I prefer his older X-men and Spiderman work; but as I said, it didn't separate him from others.

Robert Schmidt yeah but was that really his intent? i don't hate his art i just can't realize why companies say he's such a great/legendary artist when his art looks barely average
@@mr.x8468 regardless of how you feel. He's got that reputation. And he's certainly at least unique. A lot of artists have art that looks the same. At least his is very different
God i love romita jr work, the lines that give it shape.
Never was a fan if his art, it is just so plain and boxy. But he def has some fans. Glad ppl still enjoy his work.

He finds work because he is turns his work in on time. He meets deadlines. His style is hit or miss. I personally like it.
I may be in the minority here but I don't see the appeal behind his work. It all looks a bit boxy and stiff to me. If you like him, that's cool but I just don't see it. He seems like a cool guy though.
Travis Likes Movies I think that for me it depends on the characters that he is working on. I don't like his superman for example

Travis Likes Movies I feel that characters he draw outside of costumes and without masks are horrible. Basically I only like it when he draws characters with masks because his faces look downright ugly
That One Guy at 7/11 I agree. He makes all his characters have big lips and I don't understand why.
It's his storytelling. His layouts, shot selection, rhythm, clarity, and attention to detail as far as character, geography and spatial awareness are unparalleled. I didn't like his style for a while either, then I read Daredevil Man Without Fear and I got it.

Amazing work of Scott Snyder and John Romita JR with Batman, in this moment is the best comic book of all DC.

I am self taught, comic artist, Iron Man, Batman, Superman, Punisher, Pedator. My number 1's, but man he has been in "Comic art" for how long? I can do better left handed. Was he drunk? I've drawn in front of a crowd and under pressure. If I did that! I would be ashamed and punch myself in the FACE!

True, this piece here is weak, his work is sloppy at times, but he can keep a deadline, something very few can do nowadays.

Romita Jr. is great bcuz his art is done in a classical comic book style, but yet sort of stylized. What type of paper is that tho, as I thought comic paper with the bleed lines and everything is bigger then what he used here
He always seems very friendly and down to earth,I'd love to meet him. I do enjoy his art too, feels very raw.

That is terrible work. 16 Minutes and thats the best he can do. His work has always been hit or miss but that looks horrible. Especially when you watch the other DC artists who get the same amount of time.

Romita Jr has a beautiful style. It's very free and unincumbered. He definitely benefits from an awesome inker. Check out some of Richard Friend's youtube vids where he inks JRJR. He takes JRJR's pencils to another level.
