"How did he (Darth Maul) know where they were at (Tatooine)?" Playing Star Wars Galaxies game as a Bounty Hunter taught me to use 2 droids to locate my objective. One was the Imperial Probe Droid (Empire Strikes Back) which identified the planet. Once I landed on the target's planet, the droids seen when Darth Maul lands were used to locate the objective's position on that planet. It takes some time for the droids to complete their task. You have unwittingly uploaded an extremely compelling video since you hadn't made the connection timeline between this and the original trilogy when you began - I was on the edge of my seat waiting for it to click. @45:41 I was rewarded. That was amazing. Wish I could 'auto-like' every comment below - the many I read all show the love.
In a deleted scene we see Qui-gon and Anakin in the town encountering one of Maul's probe droids that we see him send after them when he lands. It's a shame that it was deleted because without it why the hell they are _running_ when he catches up to them? They shouldn't know that they are being hunted.
I think it's great how close you guys were getting with the guesses on who Anakin is! Asia almost had it! She definitely recognized the name and associated it with Skywalker for a reason. EDIT: YAAAAAY ASIA FIGURED IT OUT! I am so glad. What a great reaction! Love it. Can't wait for the next two.
This movie got a lot of hate when it came out, but I watched it again a few months ago and was surprised how much I like it. I love Star Wars and this is a great restart.
I personally love the prequels. Clone Wars, granted is sort of "meh", but the ending battle is quite awesome!!! The last 3 reboots, I pretend don't exist. Except Kylo Ren, he's a badass.
@@alexbeardsley751 I feel like most people like the action scenes of the prequels well enough, it's everything else about them that gets the hate, especially the politics lol
I had the opposite reaction. The cringe only gets worse with age. And this after being subjected to the cinematic vandalism of Disney Star Wars. At least the Duel of the Fates segment still delivers with the same power and impact it always did. Too bad that's the singlular high point of the entire prequel trilogy.
That's because eveything over the last 20 years is worse. Now watching older movies like this is a breath of fresh air. "Ah, so this is how a movie is supposed to make you feel!"
@@WOranos I'm with you. I was 20 when this was released and I somewhat liked it but couldn't really put my finger on why it wasn't great in my opinion. I tried watching these about 10 years ago with an ex who I was introducing to Star Wars and had to turn it off. These movies do not get better with age.
Please continue this series. It's so much fun watching you guys learn about Star Wars and the story and characters just evolve in front of your eyes. It's like I'm a kid again seeing these movies for the first time.
It was so funny to watch y'all sort thru the confusion of not realizing this is a prequel. I was waiting for y'all to figure it out 😂 Love your reactions, can't wait for you to watch the next one
Notice Yoda said Anakin was too old, same as he did with Luke. It's because training someone in the force is like turning them into a deadly weapon. The Jedi generally only start training people when they're babies and haven't been alive long enough to be traumatized. Anakin was literally raised in slavery by a single mother. Anyone in that position would have some issues. Not the guy you want to give a weapon to, that's for sure.
I am literally bouncing off the walls and screaming at the computer as I watch this wanting so bad to clue them in. I am amazed they didn't see that this is the first of the prequels.
This is the best reaction I've seen to this movie! Asia piecing everything together as she got more information was the best. I grew up on episodes 1-3 so I have a soft spot in my heart for these movies.
If you notice there is no music from the beginning of the pod race until the end. Lucas did the same thing with the speeder chase in Return of the Jedi
Darth maul or as Asia says Darth Devil lol He was in the movie X-Men the original He played toad He could actually really fight like that and if you watch X-Men is a scene when he's fighting storm and by the elevator he has like a long pipe in his hand and he does a spin move with the pipe just like he does with the saber in this movie check it out You don't have to watch the whole movie but check out the clip.
The force is also a metaphor for consciousness in the living universe. The Sith dive into passion fear hate and rage while the Jedi value compassion willpower peace and courage. In this age the Jedi are monk like peacekeepers taken from their families at birth to ensure they never form attachment. Qui-Gon was rebellious and didn’t believe that the Jedi should completely disavow love or consider all emotion as a liability making him the best mentor to Anakin and showing him the ways of the force. The orchestra during Qui-Gon and Mauls fight is called Duel of the Fates because the victor determined whether Qui-Gon would train Anakin or would it have to be Obi-Wan
Love this movie! I went to go see this with my dad a week after its premiere and I was blown away! The Pod Race scene and the Lightsaber Battle are the best of parts of the movie.
In case y'all haven't seen yet, Sam Jackson's character is named Master Mace Windu, and he is the second in charge of the Jedi Council of the Galactic Republic. In a sense he is Yoda's apprentice to be the grand master, which points to why he is wearing a hooded robe with the hood up when Yoda says of the Sith Order, "always two there are: a master and an apprentice." He's alluding to how the Sith follow a similar organization to the Jedi.
Anakin Skywalker is Luke and Leia Skywalker's father. Anakin Skywalker is also Darth Vader. This story begins when Darth Vader was an innocent young boy

Omg 😂 I don't know if you can for copyright reasons but a shirt with Anakin's pod racer saying "hoop d ride" would be epic 😂😂😂 So glad you guys are doing the prequels!!!!
Asia was almost there basically the entire movie. I'm glad she figured out it was a sequel at the end. This reaction was fun, as usual, especially bc yall thought it was the follow up to the first trilogy.
I’m a longtime aficionado of Star Wars lore. I’ve read the books, I’ve seen the films, I’ve watched the shows and I even have a copy of the original Clone Wars micro series. Not to mention I’ve read multiple books by Joseph Campbell, the man who taught George Lucas. I must say that watching intelligent, observant, insightful people who are generally unfamiliar with the prequels is fun and refreshing. I hope you watch the other two as well. Especially if you want to unravel the story of young Anakin Skywalker. 🙂Thanks guys!! May The Force Be With You.
Alright guys. Asia figured it out. These movies are referred to as the prequel trilogy. Booger worm's name: Jabba the Hutt. Sam Jackson: Mace Windu. Possibly the most powerful Jedi next to Yoda during this time period. This trilogy is basically "Hey, how did Vader become Vader". Fun fact: The track thats playing during the epic final fight scene with Darth Maul is called "Duel of the Fates". Meaning Qui-gon and Maul are fighting over the fate of Anakin Skywalker. Qui-gon is the father figure Anakin never had and he's someone who actually wants to raise/train him. Everyone else seems to not want to deal with him. Even Obi-wan does it out of a sense of obligation to Qui-gon but he seems to be doing it reluctantly. Keep going. Watch Rogue One once you're done with this trilogy. It takes place immediately before Episode IV (A New Hope).
I honestly love the fact that you guys are truly watching it for the 1st time and figuring out that it was a prequel. This is how star wars should be watched

Darth maul is played by a martial arts master using a bo staff. The double saber was a clever way to dress it up. Story wise, beating a master of a weapon you've never seen before would be crazy.

I saw y'all say in the chat that you didn't realize you were supposed to watch these first. No, no, no. You are watching in the correct order. Star Wars jumps around the timeline a lot after this.
I remember seeing this in theaters when it came out in 1999, 11 years old. It was the biggest thing going and the double bladed lightsaber was the biggest deal ever. You said you are confused - Anakin is Luke's father. This is many years before the events of the original trilogy.
And just think that we wouldn't have the double bladed lightsaber fight if it wasn't for Jikuu Senshi Spielban (86-87)/ VR Troopers (94-96) since the concept came from that Japenese show which VR Troopers use the stock footage from.
I was 13 when I first saw that fight with Duel of the Fates. Changed my life. Well, and cost my parents a light as I tried swinging a hockey stick around like a double bladed saber a few weeks later...
The name of Samuel L. Jackson's character is Mace Windu, he is a very strong lightsaber fighter, a Jedi master who is a member of the Supreme Jedi Council on Coruscant (main planet, capital). By the way, he is the only Jedi from all the films who has a purple sword. It was Samuel L. Jackson who persuaded the director to stand out from the rest of the Jedi.

I guess they did everything to avoid spoilers, that is why they did not know it was a prequel ?
It was so funny to watch y'all sort thru the confusion of not realizing this is a prequel.
I was waiting for y'all to figure it out 😂
Love your reactions, can't wait for you to watch the next one
Notice Yoda said Anakin was too old, same as he did with Luke. It's because training someone in the force is like turning them into a deadly weapon. The Jedi generally only start training people when they're babies and haven't been alive long enough to be traumatized. Anakin was literally raised in slavery by a single mother. Anyone in that position would have some issues. Not the guy you want to give a weapon to, that's for sure.
It's very cool that you guys had no idea that this was a prequel...and then you figured it all out. Nice job.
The timeline is in the name too: Episode I (the original trilogy is IV to VI). You're gonna enjoy the following two episodes :)
I am literally bouncing off the walls and screaming at the computer as I watch this wanting so bad to clue them in. I am amazed they didn't see that this is the first of the prequels.
Can’t question if this was their actual first reaction to the movie lol they didn’t know it was a prequel. Love these two 🥹
This is the best reaction I've seen to this movie! Asia piecing everything together as she got more information was the best. I grew up on episodes 1-3 so I have a soft spot in my heart for these movies.
You did not spend the whole movie confused not knowing it was a prequel!!? Absolutely hilarious 🤣😂🤣
If you notice there is no music from the beginning of the pod race until the end.
Lucas did the same thing with the speeder chase in Return of the Jedi
How did you not realize that you were watching a prequel?
I love how Asia almost figured it out...thats its a prequel. So damn close.
Edit: she figured it out.
And the absolutely amazing 5.1 surround mix was awesome back in 1999.
Qui Gon Jinn, played by Liam Neeson, is pretty good in the "Taken" movie franchise.
Being a Jedi in a previous life gave him a certain set of skills.
@@Marleyjr00X Unfortunately, putting on a convincing American accent wasn't one of them lol
I really thought both of you would explode at "Anakin Skywalker, meet Obi-Wan Kenobi" 🤣
Anakin Skywalker is Luke and Leia Skywalker's father. Anakin Skywalker is also Darth Vader. This story begins when Darth Vader was an innocent young boy
4:22
Quite right, Asia
This movie was set 30 years before episode IV which introduced us to Luke and shows Obi-Wan as a Jedi Apprentice
Grew up with the original 4,5,6- then the kids get 1,2,3….we shared all these movies ❤️🎥❤️ Enjoy the ride! ❤️You went back in time…that’s why it’s confusing ❤️
In case no one's told you... Darth Maul is played by the amazing and talented Ray Park. Skills!!!
So cool to see you guys figure this out. I wish I could watch all of these again like I never saw them. Such joy.
Kinda hard to watch, but at least now theyll know.
27:12 Can we take a moment to realize how crazy cool Darth Maul is… didn’t even care about running over a little boy to get to his target lol
The Samuel L Jackson reveal was hilarious. The OG is just in about everything😆. Can't wait for the rest of the trilogy to be watched by y'all. Especially part 3! All your questions will be answered there.
Easily the best Gollum impression
I actually really enjoyed the fact that they didn't know the timeline. It makes a very unique perspective and a one of a kind reaction. ❤ had a great time
Omg 😂 I don't know if you can for copyright reasons but a shirt with Anakin's pod racer saying "hoop d ride" would be epic 😂😂😂 So glad you guys are doing the prequels!!!!
Asia was almost there basically the entire movie. I'm glad she figured out it was a sequel at the end. This reaction was fun, as usual, especially bc yall thought it was the follow up to the first trilogy.
Finally got the sequence at the end, THANK YOU! My head is sore from banging it on the table this whole time! 😆
Asia I’m so glad you figured out before the end! I just spent 45 minutes yelling at my screen trying to help you guys lol
❤️❤️
I think Asia has the force. "I feel like he's a Darth Vader Kid."
I am SO happy Asia finally figured it out at the end. I was yelling at the screen 😂...can't wait to see y'all reaction to episodes 2 and 3. Shitz about to get real
You literally see it when Asia figures it out 😂
Should have photoshopped in a lightbulb popping up over her head lmao
When the guy says he’s got a good heart, I just busted out laughing
I remember some guy waited infront of the theater a whole year just to buy a ticket to see this. I'll admit I waited inline a few hours to buy mine.
The hype was volcanic, idk about anything else in entertainment history that had so much of a prerelease frenzy. Like *maybe* some Beatles or Elvis concert/album but that's the only thing I could imagine being potentially close.
No it was a month. Lincoln Gasking camped out in front of Mann's Chinese Theatre for a month to be first in line for tickets. He basically started the "Counting Down" website.
@@motodork there were a lot of stories about people camping g several weeks, the internet wasn't very functional or common so word-of-mouth was has people got info. Often distorted, so it's tough to remember accurately
the guy who played Darth Maul is the same actor who played Toad in the first X-Men movie... Ray Park.
YaaaaaYYY...Asia figured it out!!! 😊😊😊
I'm cant wait to get my hoodie . I think ima gonna buy the one that says " Back like we never left"
I really enjoyed watching you guys figuring it out.
The look on Asia's face when the light bulb switched on circa 46:30 mins, precious!
I'm genuinely proud of you guys for putting it all together by the end. At a certain point that became the only thing I was invested in. Will they or won't they? That was satisfying to see. Great video.
How are you proud of them when they should have known it was a prequel to begin with?
Darth maul is played by a martial arts master using a bo staff. The double saber was a clever way to dress it up.
Story wise, beating a master of a weapon you've never seen before would be crazy.
God Bless to you both from my mom and I in So. Cal! Love your reactions! This is an amazing movie! I have to say the next 2 after this one are my favorites. There's tons of backstories on these characters for sure. Love Liam Neeson, and Ewan McGregor in these roles! Amazing!
Take good care! Enjoy the movie! :)
Keep up the amazing work! :)
I saw y'all say in the chat that you didn't realize you were supposed to watch these first. No, no, no. You are watching in the correct order. Star Wars jumps around the timeline a lot after this.
Watching this reaction with ? above their head the whole time is classic! One of my favorite reactions ever!
The two of you are watching the first episode of star wars. Look up the order of all the episodes so you know what to expect. Love the great reaction.
I remember seeing this in theaters when it came out in 1999, 11 years old. It was the biggest thing going and the double bladed lightsaber was the biggest deal ever. You said you are confused - Anakin is Luke's father. This is many years before the events of the original trilogy.
You ain't lying. When Maul pulled out the double Saber the whole theater went wild.
Anakin is Darth Vader
And just think that we wouldn't have the double bladed lightsaber fight if it wasn't for Jikuu Senshi Spielban (86-87)/ VR Troopers (94-96) since the concept came from that Japenese show which VR Troopers use the stock footage from.
I was 13 when I first saw that fight with Duel of the Fates. Changed my life. Well, and cost my parents a light as I tried swinging a hockey stick around like a double bladed saber a few weeks later...
"You sharper than a number 2 pencil!" 😂😂 I promise you two young people crack me up
Now you need to watch Attack Of The Clones episode 2 so you can put more of the story together!
Asia, I’m glad you came through at the end! It was killing me!😂🤣 Well, now you know watching the prequels that lead up to events of the first trilogy. Also, you won’t know the total reason why Anakin turned until episode 3. I hope you get to the next 2 episodes soon!😁 Love you guys. You’re the best!
Yup this the prequel.... Episode 1...the Star Wars you all watched were Episode's 4,5& 6.😊
That was a roller-coaster seeing you two slowly figure it out. Absolutely loved how that played out 😂 keep it up. Don't spoil yourselves for next two.
The woman trying to figure this film out, had me in stitches.
Can’t wait for y’all to watch attack of the clones and revenge of the Sith🔥🔥🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽 please do those sooon!

Hey, B.J
To address your question about when "Return Of The Jedi" came out, it came out in 1982
A full 17 years before Episode I
Love you guys. I’m a Patreon supporter. So glad you worked it out Asia. The whole film your mind was working to solve the puzzle of the prequel, and once you did, BJ was there to mansplains it to us. 😂
You two are precious and priceless... But you figured it out in the end. Never change you two... Never change, just be you.
Asia the FORCE is strong with you.
😂😂 the whole video I’m like “It’s a prequel!!!”…this was gold at the end
