My god, this movie really made me feel overstimulated (in the best way possible, claustrophobic). I cannot explain it, yet it made me feel things that no other movies ever did and ive seen A TON. This was my type of movie, my ideal and what i expect to find in others.
Terayama Shûji is incredible, you should definitely check his short movies and his 1971 movie "Throw away your books, rally in the streets" (書を捨てよ町へ出よう)
Great analysis! Surreal movies like this always make me feel stupid, but i always appreciate coming of age stories especially when those stories come deep from within
Glad to see some people just like me love "cinema". Not just "movies". However, after watching the movie, I still have doubts about the circus scene. Is there a metaphorical meaning behind it? Why did the director used different colors at various occations?
I think the circus scene is the moment where the main character encountered what it means to be an adult - to be free from rules, to be weird, to be playful and naughty, and this sort of shaped his way of seeing what growing up means. It's very interesting
I’ve recently discovered this film and I was completely bewitched by it. I’m so surprised that there isn’t more people talking about this film.
Just watched the movie before your review. It was too painful. My heart still aching

Demonologists, use me as a like button and when it'll be over 100 like I'll explain the whole poem.
Did not like this film too much. Although there were many beautiful shots, it was too much weirdo shit.
