The Bass Line in this song is very underrated
That bass line played by Maurice Gibb is a killer! Love the bass on this record!
Barry soaked up so much of the limelight that you almost forget that the other brothers were talented as well. Barry got to be a jackass with that and I'm fairly sure that he regrets it now that they are gone. Oddly enough, Barry was the oldest. I like to think that God gave the other two a rest from him. Maurice really had the melodic talent in the family as you might notice from the song credits. He wasn't as pretty to look at as Barry was but when you go to cash the check, there was Maurice.
Maurice isn't playing the bass line that you can hear. That bass line is a synthesized keyboard bass...played probably by the dude playing one of the keyboards in this video. At no point do you hear Maurice's actual bass guitar. That unfortunately was how it was done at this time. It was all about image and no reality. The Bee Gees weren't alone in presenting themselves as the musicians making the sounds that you hear....it was rife. Great great bass line...but played by some dude whose name was never mentioned and never beacame famous...a session fee was his reward. That is the music industry in a nutshell.
@@minermike61Get over the Barry BS! Yes, thankfully God gave him a rest from the responsibility of looking after his younger brothers their entire lives. He's finally at peace after all the demands put on him since he was 12 years old.☮️
@@kthor Yeah bullshit dude.
Great
groove 🎼
Maurice was definitely a master at playing that guitar❤️❤️
@Barry Gibb Hello Barry! I am 57 yrs young and I have been listening to The Bee Gees since I was a teenager. I was married to a musician/drummer for a longtime and after going to see him play I started listening to you all again. I am so impressed by the your vocals and harmonies sound. Each one of you have your own style and sound which is amazing to me. I started watching Maurice in the videos closely and he was such a master at playing the guitar and driving that unique sound. It just sounds beautiful to me.I started watching video of how you all got started singing and just thought it was great and especially how long you all played together. Such an amazing story! I didn’t appreciate as much when I was younger but when you get older you just appreciate music and musicians in a different way well I do anyway. Thank you for everything you and your brothers did for the music world it is very much appreciated and you all are loved by all pretty much all over the world. God Bless you!❤️❤️❤️

Sheilah is that you? Just kidding. How did we get to be so old and still have good taste in music? This world can kiss my hiney because we had the best music in our era, ever written. There is no better music than 70s music. Yes I said it

RIP Maurice, Robin, and Andy.
fantastic bassline by Maurice Gibb!
I love the bit @1:40 where Robin and Maurice come in (and the clapping), especially Robin, as he hits a very different note to Barry and Maurice and it complements their singing well.
40 years later - the sound, is still 'cool'.....Jive Talkin - love it....
Three guys who sang like angels. Four, with Andy.
Love Maurice bangin' away on that bass !! :)
sick base line !! mo was the coolest ever
love the bee gees and this has a terrific beat.
+brian centi - I also love how Barry got the idea for the start of this song. Driving over a bridge after leaving recording studio everyday. Repetitive sound we have all heard. But only a true musician can turn something like that into a great song.
The Bee Gees are THE most fantastic music group I've heard. There's close to it, but as for that time & era, they rocked and are still rockin...
And will rocking...
They're rocking still, In heaven😢

It's a joke...
I'm joking about the close resemblace between Barry Gibb and Jesus.
The Bass Playing and Arrangements is what made this Song a # 1 Hit.
They're incredible...timeless
This song is still fresh and awesome 40 years later! And I've been listening to it for 40 years :)
Bee gees music will last forever . Just shows when you believe in yourself ! What you can do 👏👏👏

SIMPLESMENTE O MELHOR CONJUNTO MUSICAL DE TODOS OS TEMPOS. MELHOR QUE BEATLES (QUE NÃO GOSTO).
Damn, Maurice could play a nice groove on the bass!
Some how the least appreciated instrument ever.
but in disco and reggae it the other way around.

John Lennon was said to be in awe of the musical ability of Maurice Gibb, he could play anything to an incredible standard.
Playlist created in homage to the late Robin Gibb. 6 new videos added from "one Night only" and "in concert with the National Danish Concert Orchestra" ...
The backlash these boys took on account of the whole 'disco sucks' scene is one of the great travesties of modern popular culture.
Yes it was. There's a new documentary about them. Check it out if you can.
Absolutely. Time gives us the perspective to appreciate good music no matter the style. ( Hell I like Bach, John Philip Sousa and Aaron Copland too.)
@@castercamber
Yes- same here.💕
They were unfairly targeted back then - it was simply envy (and jealousy...) rearing its ugly head.
These three Musical Geniuses who never formally studied music, didn't know anything about musical scales, and didn't know how to read musical notes - yet, sang in perfect (and amazing...) harmonies (while playing several instruments - and produced genial lyrics...) were ridiculed and tossed aside like yesterday's news.
Meanwhile, they wrote hits for other well-known artists - and, they skillfully adapted to each decade that they entered as a group.💖💖💖
But they still went on to great and even greater success 🙌
The "disco sucks" people still exist quite often, the originals from back then, only now they're bitter and irrelevant, and nobody listens to them.
Justin Timberlake...eat your heart out, these are the masters!!
well said, they will live forever 🕺
yes yes... I agree............................love me some BEE GEE's
😭😭😭
Why JT? He is good, Bee gees too
He is a HUGE fan of the Bee Gees.
Rest in peace Robin. We will never forget the joy you gave us!
That base line is just ridiculous!! Every once in awhile I get a night fever that only the Bee Gees can soothe. Yes, pun intended!
Call me a madwoman, but I like to believe that somewhere there is another universe. And In that universe Maurice and Robin are still alive. It's hard to believe Maurice has been gone for 21 years and Robin's been gone for 12 years. Their deaths both absolutely left me gutted and I miss them both terribly. 💔😭
Maybe I Am getting old, who knows, 45 years coming up here soon, but I still enjoy songs from the 60's 70's 80's 90's 00' s and 2015. If I grew up today, I Would have missed so much music , but I Am from the 70's I didn't miss anything!! THANK GOD!
I agree Ted well said!
+Ted Turner It's not just you darling - you're so right! I just turned 47, was a teenager in the 'eighties and also love 'seventies music so much - the Bee Gees, Chic, The Stylistics, Queen, Blondie etc etc, it was a wonderful time.
glamdolly20 I also love that music too and I love that we have you tube now, it's so great that we can listen anytime and think about all those wonderful times :-)
+denise guile Yep we are lucky, UA-cam helps the music live on! Currently watching 'The Joy Of The Bee Gees' documentary here, I highly recommend if you haven't seen it. Disco forever! X
Thanks I will have to check that out, I would love to have my own disco ball:-))
Great song , if this song don't get you on the dance floor , then you have no heart beat lol

How did three white British brothers have This much groove? BeeGees always
they were australian they grew up on the gold coast here in queensland
theres actually a bronze statue dedicated to the band at redcliffe
Oh sorry :)
PartiZAn18 dude don't worry for a start they don't sound aussie and hardly anyone knows that they grew up in australia, except aussies coz' were all super in love with the bee gees here
Australian
PartiZAN18, you are right. They are actually British, they were born in Isle of Man(a British Territory) and then moved to Manchester. In 1958 the family immigrated to Australia where they stayed until 1967 before returning to England. They did state that they considered both to be home.
This song defines the BG's sound above the overplayed "Stayin Alive".
Was just feeling the blues so playing them now and dancing away. And I’m 72 and still love them!
Gawd, this is one of my favorite BG songs ever!!! The Bee Gees were a total phenom. I was very young when they were popular, and I hated the way everyone dumped on them yelling disco is dead. Meanwhile, they have to be one of the most talented groups ever. Barry Gibb couldn't write a bad song, and just look at him here, was a total fox! I still listen to their songs, because it reminds me of my youth and even today there is nothing better than these REAL musicians. I wish Barry wasn't alone without his brothers, all of them. Such a shame.
So miss the music from the 70's. Nothing compares.
agreed
What about the 80's?
All Decades Have their Sounds and hit`s It`s wrong to Compare Times, That`s why they are tracks of our lives. For me it`s compare like for like Punk Music to Punk Music, Disco to Disco, Or as it is now Clubbing to Clubbing, Pop to pop music. From me it`s 1980`s clubbing & Soul Music, But i never write off any other times, I Love 50`s 60`s 70`s 80`s 90`s and the 2000`s. :-)

Well it's 2023 and still listening to the Bee Gees❤❤❤❤
2023 and there isnt anything else better to listen to than this. All I have is the old sounds. No hate no disruption. Just good vibes. How do you not love that?
Оригиналът е единствен!!!Невероятни!!!
Normally I would have just been happy with the compact disc of SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER (1977) 📀. But when I saw a vinyl of it, I bought it as well. Heck. I would have picked up an 8 TRACK of it as well if I had found it. 📼
I loveeee the beegees
I was born in the wrong decade! I love the bee gees!
The song was originally called "Drive Talking" in its early stage. The song's rhythm was modelled after the sound their car made crossing the Julia Tuttle Causeway each day from Biscayne Bay to Criteria Studios in Miami.
Imho this is an almotnperfect record. Great productoon
This song cheers me up ALL THE TIME. ñ__ñ God bless The Bee Gees!
I miss the '70s! "Jive Talkin'" is so upbeat and cheerful- it's always reminded me of summer vacation, cookouts, going to the beach, hanging out with friends, everything good and happy about summer!

Oh yeah, during sleep too.

Why does this not have more views.
The liars hide truth. This is just one tool they use. Very good You noticed it others will start noticing it too I don't appreciate being calmed and made you think something is not as good as what it should be or vice versa by these liars algorithm whatever you want to call this shit they're liars and they are of the Satan followers
It's not only their divine harmonies and musical abilities but the neat band, the background music is most amazing, lots of different tricks and turns and unusual elements, such as in Tragedy. Sometimes with full orchestral backing, complementing their gifted voices...always so effective and interesting.

Nah, it's funk.

It has the accent on the one like Funk but then it switches on four-on-the-floor like disco
eu amo essa musica ,alias todas bee gees para mim são especiais!!!!!
Probably one of their best songs because it has a darker tone creatively and is outside their mould. Would have liked to see more of that, although I still loved many of their hits.
1.My dad got me addicted to this song back in 2001 when I was a 10 year old girl. I'm 25 now and still love this song.💙💛💖
2.I would sometimes think of the Minions because this was one of their top music on demand when their movie was hitting theaters last July.😆🍌👍🎶
This song is funky good!!! Thanks Bee Gees for giving us great music and showing us what REAL talent sounds like.
The Bee Gees are/were from my early married days (2-2-1974) and I loved their music! Miss you guys! Except here at UA-cam! Brings back so many memories and so much love for my husband!

I'm a teenager, i love this song to bits. THANK GOD FOR MY DAD BEING A BEEGEES FAN and making me listen to the album everyday on the car when i was a kid.
Just great, timeless music.
I was only 15 when this fabulous Bee Gees song came out. But this, and KC & the Sunshine Band's "That's the Way" were the two songs that really hooked me into the disco sound.
MY fav group of all time, so cool forever! God is a fan tooooo!

the bridge in Miami gives this song the beat. Barry Gibb drove over it in 1975 and got the idea. I was in Miami last summer for a cruise and we drove over that bridge and it sounds like dotta da dotta da, Miami the birth of disco
