Okay now hear me out, since he is a van, I wouldn’t have minded if he was a small voyager. By small voyager I mean a even bigger than bumblebee but not as close to Prime’s height.

The problem I have with Wheeljack being a "new take" on the character's design is that it's the only one of the Autobots in the movie that we've seen do this. Arcee has differences in her ROTB design compared to G1, but she's still recognizable as the character. All they really had to do was either have the Bumblebee movie head on the body, or just not call him Wheeljack and it'd be fine. It's just strange to have him not look like Wheeljack among characters who look like the characters they're supposed to be.
Exactly, especially as it’s not like Wheeljack has been used to death in the live action movies.

Well I've been trying to tell you guys that we should've renamed this Wheeljack by his product codename "Barcelona" since his Deluxe figure's vehicle mode has a logo that says "TV Pablo" the whole time but since y'all never listen?? I decided to no longer make Wheeljack my favorite Autobot anymore since I already said I'm only seeing this movie for the Maximals,Mirage,Scourge, and Battletrap, and no one else since it's obvious Wheeljack's the "only" Transformers character that the ENTIRE fandom cares about.
I think the thing with this Particular wheeljack is that it is supposed to be the same wheeljack from the BB movie, so a lot of the anger about his design comes from the fact that he changed his design between the two movies so drastically. I really like the fact that he's a brown van, but for continuity's sake I wish that his head at least had the side wings.
Yeah I can see that point to be honest. Doesn’t really make sense for Prime, Bee & Arcee to be similar but for wheeljack to be so different :( I wonder why they changed him

@@iancruz6617 they at least are similar enough. You can tell that they’re the same character, just upgraded for Earth.
At a guess they designed the robot and just randomly used the name to retain the trademark. They could have named this Trailbreaker if they had chosen. The design of the toy is good whatever you end up calling it.

It’s also worth remembering that this is a mainline deluxe, not studio series. Looking at the trailer, the body is totally different and considering how Arcee’s toy used the concept art/control art head, there could be a chance wheeljack in the movie looks more like wheeljack

The body is not different at all, the roof is 8n the back, the car door wings are there and the wheels in the shoulders too. What are you smoking?

@@somerelativleyuninterestin4763 yeah that's just because the screen design cheats a lot and the same can be said about arcee, who's just a red robot with two wheels on the back, and bumblebee who's car hood shrinks while transforming. The toy is better than the screen model and looks as it should
Ironically mainline Airazor is more accurate than the studio series. These mainline deluxes might end up far more accurate.
I really hope studio series wheeljack looks far more like the bumblebee design.

I can see the head design from concept art, and I think the way he gets this form is when he scans the van at the same time he intercepts a TV signal that has the show where Steve Urkle appears (but it is a theory)

Yes, like some aging hippy do-it-yourself mechanic, to suit the kombi-van mode.
I already renamed him by his codename "Barcelona", hopefully that counts atleast.
Maybe even as Ironhide (just remove his glasses and give him a better mouth)

After the difference in air razor from mainline to studio series, I'm interested to see SS version of this guy.
In terms of the design I don't really mind the redesign :) But I think the problem comes from seeing the Cybertron scene of Bumblebee! That scene is just glorious and promised us to have vibrantly colorful Live Action G1 designs and that still carries on to most characters except Bumblebee and Wheeljack, but we still saw Bee as a Beetle on his movie, so I think thag difference between "Cool G1 Wheeljack in Cybertron" and "Nerdy G1 from ROTB" is what causes all of this backlash 🤔 If this was the Bayverse or anything else I think no one would mind :)
I'm hoping that the Optimus primal figure isn't horrible, he needs to be like In the trailer and I hope he has the chain thing that connects the swords.

I'd rather get him over Barcelona, also I decided to rename this character by his codename "Barcelona" since I couldn't stand the Wheeljack fans' whining over this anymore and also his Deluxe Class figure's Van mode says "TV Pablo" on it.
I could only wish or hope that maybe in the movie, his glasses flip open to become Wheeljack’s iconic transparent “ears”. . . And keep it like that most of the movie.
Maybe he uses his goggles occasionally when creating or doing science-y stuff

I'm still not entirely sure as to why most of the other Transformers veterans have kept their classic designs, but, Wheeljack doesn't? Maybe they'll explain it in the film, which I hope they do, and perhaps even his new glasses will become his iconic side-speakers, that'd be awesome! If that does end up being the case, then I hope they start off with the glasses first, and then later down the line they end up becoming his side-speakers just to show the veteran TF fans that G1 WJ isn't completely gone! I think the figure itself is also rather interesting. I do wonder if his weapon can also be stored underneath his Alt Mode since there is a pretty big gap below the van?
I heard they might be resigning Wheeljack fo ROTB so this figure might be redesigned when it hits shelves.

I agree as this is a new and rather interesting take on Wheeljack, but would’ve much preferred the Bumblebee movie head on the body and the classic white, green and red paint scheme!
The head looks fine, it also gives me vibes to Cybertron (Galaxy Force) Scattershot!

PvP is so real for discussing the fact that these are different takes on the characters. So cool.
“In ten to twenty years, this is going to be somebody’s definitive version of Wheeljack” I do not mean to be rude, but I really hope not.
I'd be fine with the redesign if he shared literally just 1 single element with his BB design. The fins or even the faceplate was all he needed, but there is absolutely 0 design consistency between the two designs or even 90% of all other Wheeljack designs, instead it's just a downgrade to the "Nerd" stereotype from a far better design.
This would be like if AOE Optimus didn't even have an Optimus-like head but instead one that just looked like a human wearing a Football helmet, or like how TLK Megatron looks absolutely nothing like AOE Galvatron with no explanation, and once you start drawing parallels to TLK that's a problem.
Cause if there's one this franchise has remained consistent in the past 40 years is that if a character got a new form from scanning it and not from an external source was they shared at least 1 design element with the previous body mainly in the head.
Maybe you should quit the Transformers fan job and find a new fandom that can listen to your whiny opinions instead.
All they needed was to give us a few more Wheeljack details. The van is callback to being that cubed van from the first episode of the G1 cartoon.
But if they had called the character a more obscure name, there wouldnt be any outrage at all.
In terms of toy, he looks pretty cool. I think it should be interesting to see what he does in the movie.

I got to admit I love your passion for the Bay movie designs. I too share your passion for them and a 49 year old G1er. I too cant wait for this line cause as of right now they do look really good. Keep up the good fight my man.
It's a cool looking figure. I rather like the transformation. Like most, I'm really hoping they offer an acceptable explanation for such a drastic change in design between the Cyberton and Earth versions of the character. I understand your point about possibly leading to fresh character designs for newer fans, but we still got Bumblebee as a VW and a Camaro without the robot mode changing that much. The alt-mode really does make sense, especially considering Lancia is not a manufacturer known for having an automotive presence in the U.S. It never made much sense to me how G1Jazz and Wheeljack *maybe even Smokescreen?) got their alt-modes unless there was some rally event going on when scanning began.
I feel like this mold (with a different head sculpt) would work great for a ratchet figure.

Do you have any issues untabbing the feet from the roof when going back to robot mode? Mine is locked super firmly in place, can't get the feet to disconnect
I know almost everyone hates this figure because of his head but some people just need to chill as who knows maybe he actually has his old head but just changed it as it was a part of his new form and a new version of wheeljack

I think it’s because mainline figures were meant to release in 2022 but because the film got delayed so did the toy line

Me too! That made me hate the new head design less, because I’m assuming Paramount was thinking of Donatello when giving him that head. Wheeljack’s supposed to be an inventor so for a new design for him, it’s works for me!

Solid deluxe. Engineering and detail really brings back the feel/intracity of the ROTF line which has been missing for a good long time now. I like how the focus of these modern day figures is keeping the articulation consistent and non restricted. Nice to see arms/legs not hindered by obnoxious kibbly bits as well as a propper waist articulation. My thoughts anyway on this and the Legacy Bulkhead which is pretty decent. Loved the action shots at the beginning and the teaser for Leader Class Scourge. That looks like all kinds of epic and can't wait for the review.
The bronze and cream color scheme just work, well done on the designer's part.
Considering how smooth the look is, for my old G1 self, he's going to be a new Energon G1 Towline.

I want to see them retoal this mold into Dreadbot from TLK. I think that would be a really great idea considering the fact that the only Decepticons that got toys from TLK were Megatron, Berserker, Nitro Zeus, Infernicus, and Barricade. I almost want to pick up 2 of these and turn one into Dreadbot (Even with the Christmas light, which is one of my favorite parts of Dreadbot's design)

Not gonna lie, if they gave him a red color scheme and called him preceptor it would be a lot more fitting. Maybe in the movie (if the rumoured redesign is to be true) he’ll have the iconic wheel jack head. In the meantime we’ll have to wait. Also love your vids man keep it up!
Character design aside it's kind of wild that from what I can see so far this is one of the best deluxe figures.

He'd look great, not with the BB movie head, but as a full G1 Wheeljack retool. Just G1 Jackie with a van mode. Great, charming figure! Just wish his door wings angled more but no biggie, still rocks the look.

I particularly like the idea of not being based on the G1. Even because this movie is not supposed to be G1. I think that in the movie he will have the retractable mask like the tf prime wheeljack.
Other thing that will make me happy is to seeing beast hunter optimus design in this live action movie, since already has released a toy version in this design.

I think redesigns are good so long as they do not completely remove any sign of the original source material. They're supposed to be the same character, so it doesn't feel right when this iteration of Wheeljack bears no similarity whatsoever to the countless other versions we've seen in the past apart from the name. If the redesign is so drastic to the point you can't even tell it's Wheeljack by looking at it, then why call it Wheeljack in the first place? Solid figure tho, love the engineering of the transformation

Going off the fact that the mainline toys are based off old concepts, I expect him to not look like this completely. Just look at mainline Airrazor and SS Airrazor. Widely different so I have hopes they did a balance between this and the BBM design.
As someone who always thought the DOTM look wheeljack had was really clever and cool, i'm totally on board with this new design if he looks this way in the final movie, it makes perfect sense for the character, so even if it's a drastic reinvention, at least it isn't uncharacteristic for him; i do hope in the film the glasses like flip out sideways and double as his usual glowing side head panels though

i would be fine with the new design if they gave him his faceplate back and made the eyes a more solid color.
if those changes were made i could see the glasses being interpreted as welding goggles, which would go in line with him being the autobot's main engineer.

what i think would be cool if, like you said, the glasses split in half and wheeljack pops out a battlemask which makes him resemble his g1 look as a battle mode when he is fight the teracons.
I'm used to Wheeljack being a sports car, but a Volkswagen party bus is pretty cool
In all honesty, I prefer him with the glowing ear pieces. I would prefer that head design he has in ROTB for Perceptor.
Statistically I cannot be the only one who loves this figure, the design less so but still
