Im liking you’re videos pal. Enjoying the low key and under stated presentation. Characters like George Cornell are born of circumstance and no one is immune from that reality. In this particular instance it was a tragic and senseless way to die but this is the sinister underbelly of living such a life. Thank you for remembering people like George and giving a dignity to his memory. Seeing where he lived and the places he hung out was interesting to watch. There is a story to tell behind any life and that should never be forgotten. Good luck with the growth of you’re channel. 🙏❤️.x
I used to work behind the pub in Mill Yard, it has gone now after the DLR was built. If you came out of the side entrance and turned left, it would lead to our yard, Fenton Coogan (not sure of spelling) was the governor of the pub he ran a typical Irish run pub, good beer and meat pies, a real nice fella. Spent a lot of time there and never saw one fight, everybody in there was a worker drunk and good company. It has a lot of history, one of the biggest events that went on in there was quite a long time ago when a seaman (I believe Swedish) walked into the pub and poured petrol over himself and burnt to death. On the right of the pub as you look at it, The Empress was a Somali café where they fought and gambled and drank whatever, one day a card game got out of hand and one man was stabbed to death right outside. Next to that was a limousine hire garage, obvious all gone now it was a rough area, but I loved it and never felt threatened. Time moves on, but at least the pub and the bridge is still there, thanks for the memories.
My best mates girlfriend's Dad's ex army mate lived 3 streets away from the blokes brother who knew the guy who drove the number 33 down the High Street. Anyway on his break this chap, a good Eastend geezer would chat to the lady at the launderette who's husband was the Uncle of the guy who often drove the 3rd Kray Twin around. He said the fight never happened!

Otherwise known as Benchley Gardens. It isn’t actually in Camberwell! It’s in a Forest Hill postcode of SE23 between Forest Hill Road and Brockley (SE4). Near the entrance is Boxer Freddie Mills headstone and also the evil Richardsons burial plots (left hand side as you enter the main gates).
Apparently the white car parked outside the blind beggar in that last picture was george cornells not sure what make it is can't really see the badge on the boot clearly enough though I thought it looked a bit vauxhallish.
@Geoff Sullivan Yes the white car parked outside the pub is a 1965 Vauxhall Victor 101, but it did not belong to George Cornell. He was driving a blue Ford Zephyr at the time of his death. Where did you hear the Vauxhall was George's car?
@@haruminsularum9960 you know what I think it was in that first issue of John Pearsons book The Profession of Violence (in the photo description) way back when. By all accounts Cornell was one of the hardest men in London at the time, alongside Eddie Richardson, Jimmy Moody and Albert Reading.
Yeah the fight happened outside the brown bear pub but Charlie Richardson was also there and hit the poof ( Ronnie ) from behind knocking him to the ground Cornell then kicked him in the chest and said on ya feet you poof Ronnie said he will fight him in a weeks time but Cornell was having none of it and with that sat on him punching him numerous times to the head and body while abusing him He made Ronnie look like a little kid Ronnie was fuming and feared he lost all cred That’s the reason Ronnie shot him in the blind beggar and I know this story I’m posting is true as George Cornell was my cousins grandad
That's what crime does sad though for his family but life goes on normal working class people don't have all this but they say crime don't pay simple as that
While the Krays were professional criminals, they had no real knowledge of firearms, especially how to look after them, periodically firearms need dis-assembling for a thorough cleaning to ensure they work and not get jammed when you pull the trigger, hence why the gun jammed when Reg attempted to murder Jack. I would without a doubt be shot dead then go the way Jack did. The most accurate depiction of Jack's murder is in the original movie about the Krays, not Legend. On the topic of the 1990 movie about the Krays starring Martin and Gary Kemp; this movie crosses between two different genres, it isn't just a gangster movie, it also succeeds as a horror movie; through clever use of make-up and lighting the Kemp brothers were made to look very sinister.

Wilf Pine talks about the fight. Some say it was the Brown Bear others the George and the Dragon.
