Innovative education leader Geoffrey Canada, president and founder of Harlem Children’s Zone, is the inaugural speaker for the Stone Social Impact Forum, a new signature series highlighting civic change agents who advance social change and innovatively address areas of inequality in our society.
Geoffrey Canada will share the journey of Harlem Children’s Zone and discuss how equal access to a quality education is the cornerstone of a healthy democracy. Canada will also participate in a conversation around his theory of change, the importance of youth engagement, and his vision for how each person can positively contribute to their communities and civic life.
Geoffrey Canada is the President and Founder of Harlem Children’s Zone, Inc. Under his visionary leadership and 20+ years with the organization, Harlem Children’s Zone has become a national model that The New York Times called “one of the most ambitious social-policy experiments of our time.” Canada was driven to help children who, like himself, were disadvantaged by their neighborhoods and felt that helping them find inspiration in education would make all the difference in their lives. His work has received significant media attention and he is the recipient of many awards and honorary degrees. He is also the author of two books, including Fist Stick Knife Gun: A Personal History of Violence in America and Reaching Up for Manhood: Transforming the Lives of Boys in America.
The Stone Social Impact Forum is an annual series that features bold civic change agents who demonstrate various pathways to tackle inequality, advance social change, and inspire all people to be civically active. The Forum is a joint initiative of the Edward M. Kennedy Institute for the United States Senate and the John F. Kennedy Library Foundation made possible through the generous support of the James M. and Cathleen D. Stone Foundation.

Matthew Perry played a school named Ron Clark who moved from a small town in the south to New York City New York he helped his students to become successful despite their struggles in connection to education Both Boys and Girls to become enjoyable learning students this movie brought me to tears because towards the end of this school year Mr Clark's students become successful passing the honors students at their school because of
clear rules saying we are family. Common ground needs to be made now. Enjoyable Learning and Clear rules lead towards success in connection to education.
    Thank you for listening.

In the Civil War Movie: Glory, the night before the Massachusetts 54th Regiment's Battle at Fort Sumter, actor Morgan Freeman's character stood up - during one scene when the soldiers signing Negro spirituals around the camp fire - and gave a prayerful speech.
"So, I am standing here today heavenly Father to ask for your blessings on all of us.
That if tomorrow is our great gettin-up morning.
If tomorrow we have to meet the great judgement day.
Heavenly Father we want you to let our children know, that we died facing the enemy.
We want our children to see that we went down, standing up.
Against those we are fighting against our freedom.
We want our children to know heavenly Father that we died for freedom.
We ask these blessing in Jesus' name. Amen
    that we
I want our children to know,
    that we
    Morgan's character's speech is an
anachronism, that represents a comparable situation that belong in 1860s that should not belong 2022 - yet it does.
