I started playing around six weeks ago. First thing was go through campaign and learn the basics of gameplay, my class and the game systems. That part alone takes a while and im still learning about currencies and other stuff.
Then I decided i wanted to farm some gold to get started, and spent around two weeks learning methods and trying them out and got to around 300g, while starting stocking up mats. In the meantime i also got the Skyscale which has been a blast to get and helps with open world endeavors a LOT.
Today ive just finished my latest goal which was getting all ascended accessories/rings/amulet/backpack and weapons, one from post HoT campaign, one from the "return to" achievement ascended weap cache and the last one from lvl 500 weaponsmith. Since i have decent gear and know my class well enough, next goal is starting to get into istanced content while keeping the gold farming up. I really enjoy meta trains so thats my main sources of income while also doing daily stuff like daily achievement, dragonstorm and full house looting. Also want to start working on ascended armor maybe through armorsmithing.
Eventually i look forward to crafting Twilight and one day, Eternity.

@@saiter6010 As wrote in the original comment "I really enjoy meta trains so thats my main sources of income while also doing daily stuff like daily achievement, dragonstorm and full house looting."
I'd say the daily routine nets me around 10g, and most of the rest comes from salvaging items (you get a ton of scrap from farming metas) and champion bags which i usually open on a lvl 54 character since the mats you get at that level range are significantly more valuable than level 80 ones.
If you are into group activities (fractals / strikes / raids) these are very lucrative too, I just didnt get into them yet.

Farm in this game doesn't make any sense since you just need to buy gems to convert to gold and avoid all this grind.
Gathering resources like korean bot will kill passion in any game and the profitability of such behavior is very debatable since the time required in terms of the minimum wage in real life is less than 1/5 of the minimum wage😂
As for the main point, it is the most necessary to try new modes the whole idea of GW 2 is to play anything whenever the previous mode gets boring for freshness.
The rotation between PvE, raids, pvp and wvw is the best way to never get bored because you always have something new even when you have limited time due to work there is always time for one or two pvp games or daily T4 fractals

Partially disagree on the farming part, since some stuff is not obtainable in other ways than to get the stuff yourself. And that is a good thing. But for those things you should still apply the "do something else if what you are during now gets boring" rule.

Been seeing variations of this sentiment since 2012. GW is a game I’m always making continuous, long term progress in. I also play XIV and a fair bit of single player games so I’m not on GW2 every minute, but I come back regularly to progress my goals bit by bit. It’s how I got my legendaries, my WvW triumphant gear, my PvP titles, all of that stuff was done over time with regular breaks. That way I don’t really get burned out in the typical sense. I just take a break and come back when the mood hits me.

Hey there, I started playing in 2021 and played 1500hrs+ that year, plus time spent on UA-cam guides, wiki pages and crafting resources, you can do the math to know that's a lot of time for 1 year, if got 11k achiev points and a full set of legendary medium armor, plus lots of good stuff, playing pve (complete all LW and expansions minus EoD) Wvw up to rank ~400 and ranked spvp ofr the backpack.
I pre-ordered EoD but when it launched I was a bit burnt about it too and just didn't touched the game in the last 2 years, slowly getting back to it now and trying to finish ascension, I need just 12 pvp wins lol hahaha, taking breaks is always a good thing and Gw2 respects players that do so

Oh wow, you did so many things and 1500+ hours in a year, congrats 👏 . But it was no surprise you got burned out, for me the more a grind takes the higher chances to not want to log into the game. Congratulations on the new legendary and welcome back to the game 😁

This game's great because you can quit for a year and come back without missing out due to a required daily grind
