This pod is really underrated. The only thing is that Esso gotta let the guest speak more! I know he got passion, but gotta hear the guest point of view.
😂
@sexytk9831 😂😂😂 he still over talking? I think it's because he's truly a vet, he really knows the game and has experience. He's his own guest.😂 I had to learn that about Esso. He's been in the Game a MINUTE.
@@urbannuance5151 Yup! There are a lot of dudes like him who don’t have the gift of gab to share their experiences like Esso.
It's Esso's show people watch to hear him. If you want to see the guest, you can watch them on their own handle.
@@983mademanyou sound dumb asf
Add Rory as the third member of Bagfuel. Shout out to Esso. Salute!
Why would they do that
Nah fam Rory and Mal are perfect
They can’t afford the Red Ranger
@@vinnyvega2g attempting to insinuate that they should even associate their brand with a person like him means you gotta be smoking krack. they built this the 3 of them from the ground up and the only thing they can't afford is to comprimise their integrity for wood tip riding peons who would call for it.
Boi bye.
There won't be another Rihanna because they aren't putting money into artist development anymore. Money has COMPLETELY changed with streaming.
🎯
Lol no there won't another Rihanna cause they can't afford to finance those writing camps
The chemistry with this trio is unmistakable, need to make it a regular thing 💰💰💰
Nah Esso Right On This One. Especially That Era When Rihanna Was Getting Broke As An Artist. It Wasn't Social Media Or All Of The Music Platforms & Outlets As It Is Now. So Radio And Just Video's With Some Good Marketing & Eventually It'll Happen. The Majors Got That Much Power. They Definitely Pushed Rihanna On Us. She Also Is Dope As Well. Both Things Can Be True At The Same Time.
He Wrong... How u explain Russ, or Kendrick..
@@joshuacharles4403 Kendrick was out for years until Dre broke him with that look. You actually proved Esso point. I remember hearing Kendrick's shit on UA-cam in like 06. Hell I heard Drake records on Dat Piff long before he ever got with Wayne. The system pushes who they want to push and make them stars. When Nicki was signed to Gucci Mayne she never popped. Same thing with Lady Gaga until Akon convinced Jimmy to put money behind her. That's how the industry works. Look at this new chick Tyla. She just comes out and she already has a grammy and is getting pushed like crazy. You think that's organic?
@@joshuacharles4403TDE is an imprint under Universal Records…remember when Kendrick and Jay Rock were getting cosigned by Wayne years before they went national ? He benefitted from the same process that Rihanna did…
@@christianjames92yup exactly, he just agreed with Esso lol
It's a combo. Rory's point was that yes a lot of huge artists had that huge marketing push behind them. But there were also a bunch of artists that also had that huge marketing push that failed or didn't catch. At that point you have to give the artists some credit as well as it took something in that artist for people to latch on to. It takes a combo of marketing AND talent. Not just marketing which is what Esso was saying.
Fire content when they are not being annoying
😂 Yall NEED to have Rory on as a regular guest ! Struck gold with this one !!!!!
The public fears Esso because he's breaking the perception that your favorite artist is a byproduct of a machine. It's like finding out your life is fake.
That’s only 1 aspect of the real convo & gems in these kind of discussions. Nobody fears Esso unless they’re already a brainwashed mark who fell for the marketing & the label created work…Esso isn’t telling the whole story he’s just focused on superstar talk & label politics.
@@RESTORINGTHEFEELING so what does the whole story entail that he's leaving out, oh wise one.
Not mines 😂lol I would listen to a homeless man if it's dope 😎 lol
Money will put you through the door but it's the talent that's going to determine your longevity
Esso hit it on the head.. TAX WRITE OFF's.. Rory makes good point on individuality
Hell Yeah add Rory regular 😂😂😂this shit funny as hell
Why
I fucks with Rory & Esso. Especially about Music
Very simply... U need talent and money...but if u only have talent...it won't be enough to get on that level
Indeed. U pay the game the game don’t pay you until the game is ready😂😂
Cypher Sounds discovered Ri Ri? That’s new to me
That’s the biggest nugget I took from this
Cipha also broke Khaled in NY. Dude's a legend but he doesn't brag about it.
Yes. She made a whole IG post thanking him some years ago.
Yep.
damn yall new nigga's
Rory outside 🤣
Es$0 telling the truth I have watched it for years
Love❤the content
Fire content 🔥🔥🔥🔥
As a mailman I despise that last comment lol
I was literally gonna say RITA ORA lmao salute to rory...the crazy thing is yall are both right
Rory calling E$$O on his bullshit 😂😂😂
facts
Either you are extremely naive, bought and paid for, or you are simply a D rider for thinking anything Esso said was BS
Big facts Esso be exaggerating shit
Maybe for a dj, but for an artist Esso's speaking facts. Any artist you think is indie getting money is not indie.
Esso is very knowledgeable. Everything is paid for from billboard spot to popularity. Ja Rule didn't fall off they stop paying for him.
That's a good point and the irony is when they tried to put money in him again with "New York" and it was too late they both kinda right
They both are right… you gotta be likable|marketable to get the attention, the music has to be worth the attention given… one without the other isn’t gonna work in the long run where you get runs like a Drake, Nicki, Rihanna…
@@v9productions Likeable? They'll brainwash you to like them
Both are right, but they won't let Rihanna to change her style, she did it because she want to change her image, and be the Rihanna, and she's the one who chooses Umbrella as a song for her, they put money on her, like on Beyoncé and every other artists, but she did create The Rihanna. I think the image of an artist like lady gaga or Rihanna, was created by the talent of the artist, but for sure they put a lot of money on that talent to claim the mountain.
Holaaaaaaaay rory vs. Esso....I need da whole episode today 😂😂😂😂😂 let russ cook!!!!!
Artist loves artist ! The masses loves what the masses loves! Money will get you in but talent will keep you !
THIS THE RORY WE NEED
A Girl Like Me went Platinum and had 3 of Riri’s biggest hits. We Ride and Unfaithful are two of my personal faves. A Girl Like Me gave Rihanna her first number 1 single.
With that being said Esso has a point if we work on his supporting details.
Rhianna didn't become a megastar until Good Girl Gone Bad and Umbrella dropped. That's what took her from a good artist to a megastar. Also remember this is a different time. This is the early to mid 2000s. Pop budgets were outrageously high cause you had to pay top dollar for writers and producers. Unfaithful alone probably cost the label millions just to pay Neyo and Stargate to do that record. So even if she eventually went platinum the return was razor thin. It's not like now where the label can pay writers peanuts and producers peanuts and just get hit records for pennies on the dollar.
@@christianjames92 I’m not refuting that. actually Good Girl Gone Bad is what solidified her as a Superstar. Megastar status happened later. I’m not going to bring it up but I’m sure you’ll know what I mean a non music based event.
Rihanna still had hits on her first two albums. Pon De replay was number 2 on billboard hot 100. SOS on here second album went number 1 on billboard hot 100@@christianjames92
GOT MY GUY ESSO HEATED B!!! HE SWEATING AND ALL THAT😂😂😂😂🔥
labels are day traders, artists are learning how to handle biz outside of the system now!
Not really. Without a push from the label it's damn near impossible to break. A lot of these dudes claiming to be independent have backroom label deals. I once read it costs close to $100,000 to break a single as an independent artist. That's one single.
@@christianjames92 that's not true, and "breaking" is relative. Regionally successful artist can make six figures without any radio play or major outlets r*ping them for everything, just 5,000 monthly paying fans. Look at the west coast rap scene, majority of those dudes are indie!
Damn I haven’t seen turnt up Rory since the old pod days, we need more of this
Y’all heating up‼️🔥🔥
ESSO is right.
OMG! Rory! I finally found someone who spoke the truth about Tinashe!!! 🤣 they be tryna put that girl on EVERYTHING!!
Gentlemen this is dangerous. Fire for real! 👍🏾
I love the discussion!!!!
6:08 they did, her name is Tyla lol.
Yep she the next one
I was literally thinking of her when he said make another one lol
How tf is Tyla the next Rihanna
THIS IS DOPE…. KEEP RORY ON 🔥🔥💯💯🤣🤣
Dude with the braids is bugin Rihanna first single ponde replay was a number 2 hit on the hot 100 her album went gold in 5 months that’s successful if you ask me.
Pon de replay was on rotation globally!!
Pon the replay got no real replay. It was Umbrella that broke her.
@@Axiohm000 she had a number 1 single before umbrella 😂
@@jameltanderson payola. People wasn't jacking it. When Jay Z was president of Def Jam Rhianna was the only artist with a promotional budget.
@@Axiohm000 they were pushing Tierra Marie harder so why wouldn’t they give her the payola? 😂 it doesn’t make sense
Esso got a point , Rory got a point , but Rihanna is that good that it worked money aside
Did you buy her first album
@@DamosTacos definitely not
They’re def trying to make Tyla the next Rihanna
Rihanna got five singles before they broke her. She had a bigger promotion budget than Method Man and The Roots on def jam 2006. Perks of sleeping with the label president. Def Jam fucked over certified gold and platinum artist to break a mediocre act.
That mediocre act is the 2nd best selling female artist of all time behind Madonna they obviously picked right 😂
@@jameltanderson Madonna is definitely her predecessor and model for future acts. Neither are special. Neither have top tier vocals. Neither are song writers. They are both interchangeable cogs in a machine. They are true pop stars. The business is all about funding.
It's a bit of both.... Moreso the money tho but the artist still gotta have that "it" factor to really "pop" pop
3 min in KEEP Rory coming back!
Why
Ne Yo had "let me love you" before signing tho...
Love this !
This is a really good segment
Rory is right! 💪🏾💪🏾
Nah, you just a tip rider
I agree with both !! Both good points
This great chemistry!
esso going to far with his artists are everywhere rants.. he needs to make another one!!
its both sides! fire! business and art! LISTEN!
Ok they starting to cook now! More of this insight!
👍🏻. Nice discourse .
E$$o is right and Rory got a point but the money makes thing move.
Ask him why it HAD to be Rihanna specifically?
I think there's something deeper and darker involved, but I'm not going to go there. Listen I agree with both of these gentlemen's points but I'm from an even older generation than them and I saw the industry do it with Usher Raymond. In between his first album that didn't really blow, and "My Way"with Jermaine , Usher did about two albums with a producer that I won't name out of loyalty to him. It was not going to work. The Usher you see now was not the Usher that was in childhood and adolescence, they had to develop him. They saw something in him, but it took a lot of work. He was not a Disney kid and who was a natural talent and raised to be a star. The same thing with Beyonce. It took years of development. The difference with Usher was that they were going to make sure that he blew and I don't know why. I think the same could be said for Rihanna. 🤔
Esso won
The debate here is artist development and an artist that wants it
Esso is right. Making another rihanna is easy. They just gotta fund it.
It's hard to make stars after 2012 because social media separates listeners by the algorithm
MAKE ANOTHER 1!!!!
@YoungThuggerNutHugger they just did with that cute lil bitch from africa that sings make me sweat make me hotterr. Watuhhhh. Etc. Tyla i think is her name
Rihanna doesnt evev write her own music nor does she dance. And her vocals are sub par. Are ya serious? She gets records given to her. When they put the bag on you. U gonna pop.
So why haven’t they been able to yet 😂
I love these convos cuz it’s real talk…the crazy part is they’re both right…Esso speaks from “Label Man” perspective cuz tho he might know & love music he loves the bag more…Rory like Esso said is an artist at heart so he places more value in the creative part of the program…Both minds are needed to create SUPERSTARS….What Esso ain’t tellin cats is an artist can make a living off their art goin straight to consumer, AND bigger budgets from brands & platforms would be presented along the way….But Esso is never gonna say that part cuz he promotes these big situations & gettin filthy rich & famous in the game….so he’s leaving out part of the story AND if introduced i firmly believe he would scoff & sh** on that kind of living/existence for an artist…There’s real life examples of artists that have done this too….Respect to both him & Rory…Now drop the whole video & quit spoon feeding us clip by clip. This is a good sit down 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Come on now Rory, DON'T COME FOR TINASHE!!!! She's more creative than half of the most popular girls out right now. She knows her lane. When it comes to her the girls that get it, get it! I'm late to the party with this podcast but I realize I've totally missed seeing Esso and Hynaken's energy. I enjoyed listening to these three who actually know what they're talking about.
💖💛💚
Nah the labels was picking the best fit to invest into based off the art, Look and energy. You can have 10 artist similar look and sound invest same bag, And 1 or 2 become will br the bigger artists.
Rory needs to come back
Es$o 1000% making sense
Rory is right. Cream rises to the top, yes the grooming and labels help but you gotta have that talent to reach a certain level
Actually you just made Esso's point. Without bread and cosigns (Jigga), aint nothing moving.
Yall should interview drag-on thatd b dope since everyones NY natives🙏
We did already check the catalog
Tyla is the new Rhianna!!!
Esso kinda has a point about Rihanna’s second album. Only push back I’ll give is, SOS is on that second album. That one record has probably paid for that album 100 times over.
No one even mentions SOS . Gotchu tho
They both right tbh!
They trying it Tyla!!!
People gotta remember Rory is a perennial Allstar in the podding game
Now this is interesting
Tyla?
You have to have the machine plus the talent and work ethic plus a little luck. Some people had the machine but no talent and might’ve been a 1 hit wonder, some had the talent but not the machine n they might’ve stayed underground and if that work ethic isn’t there that career is gonna be short. And that luck has to be there too cuz some people got lucky and shook the right hand n some got unlucky n got locked up or killed or someone important in their machine got jammed up
He got Rory on this one. Yeah, she Rhianna, but the money they put behind her was the difference. Slaughterhouse should've been what Griselda is with the proper support.
I miss this Rory
I believe that both of them are right...
Esso 95% right, other dude 5
Bag fuel brigade
I'm so glad rory was.there 😂😂😂😂
Why
@983mademan because industry people always think it's the bag the bag is there for every sign artist but you have too Deliver but it's looks talent personality but it's not a bag then blow up
Useful tools brought and paid for to shift the culture
dope
Rihanna had hits on her first two albums though, but I get your point
Hate when they argue like everything's not true lol.
Rihanna's tone is iconic
I saw Rory and said click immediately 😂❤
Rory buggin
Why people lie like, “Y’all been asking for it?” Never seen it in the comments.
I get what Rory saying but Rihanna never wrote any song so they did really just create her. She brought looks, personality & vocal tone
To Rory's credit, I've heard his argument from others DOG YEARS ago when Rihanna was only known for Pon De Replay.
Esso is part of the establishment 🤭
Esso was about to Sweat like Patrick Ewing in the Playoffs the way he was debating with Rory. Funny part is both are probably right 😂
Money does not carry sustained musical success. You gotta be a good enough horse to bet on.
Drake was performing at the Grammy's without having a retail album.
Pon de replay was number 2 on billboard hot 100. Literally Mariah's We Belong Together blocked it from going number 1
Same thing with 50cent
2 things can be true
Tyla is the new Rihanna
"Make another one" is dumb and I wish people would stop making this bad point
No Rihanna without THE-DREAM'S pen. Let's be clear!
