Greece's World Famous Beach of Voidokilia (Pylos, Peloponnese) | Βοϊδοκοιλιά

Welcome to Voidokilia beach, Greece's top rated beach in Messinia, Peloponnese. A fine sand beach with turquoise water in the shape of the Greek letter omega that is being voted one of the world's best and most popular beaches. Voidokilia (or Voidokoilia) has also been named "A Place of Particular Natural Beauty" and it is part of "Natura 2000" protected area, a network of nature protection areas in the territory of the European Union.
"Voidokilia is located in the western side of the Peloponnese, close to Pylos. Just above the beach and the sandy dunes, is the Castle of the Ancient Pylos, the Nestor’s Cave and the tomb of Thrasymedes, Nestor’s son. This is considered to be the area where King Nestor welcomed and hosted Telemachus, during his trip to Pylos in Homer’s Odyssey.
To reach Voidokilia beach by car or motocycle, you will need to drive from Pylos toward Gargaliani. Two and a half kilometers after Gialova, a small road towards Petrochori will drive you near the beach. Alternatively, you may choose to reach Divari beach and walk from there next to the sea at the coast of Gialova lagoon or walk up to the Pylos Paleokastro and reach Voidokilia from there."

The beach is located in a pretty remote area. This is literally a desert, so take my advice and bring with you water and food. If you're visiting late noon, one umbrella maybe won't be enough because there is no natural shade and the sand burns you feet in an instant during hot summer days. Maybe the best time of the day to visit Voidokilia is probably late in the afternoon and stay until sunset which is glorious.
Voidokilia is next to Gialova lagoon which is one of the most important wetlands in Europe and close to the luxury seaside resorts of Costa Navarino and Zoe Resort.
So taking into account all of the above information... is this beach worth the hype? Absolutely yes! You need to visit Voidokilia at least once to witness the stunning landscape but maybe it's not for you everyday swim if you don't have accommodation nearby or you're someone that doesn't feel comfortable in the middle of nowhere.

Thanks for tuning in guys! I don't know why it took me so long to visit this beach. I wish I had filmed more of this but it was a long day with many locations. We arrived just before noon on a pretty hot day. After a while the heat got to us plus we needed some rest and food. I love the music you use on your videos, the 80's! it looks like a very beautiful beach, but mostly I liked how your girls did the synchrony dive. I have a she fish aged 10 myself, and she loves the sea ever since she first bathed in it, when she was 1 year old, and this happened in Greece :)

Thanks man. I have been avoiding this beach for many years as people had mixed thoughts. Some of them were totally wrong. This place is surely one of a kind!
