Novosibirsk is the third biggest city in Russia making it the biggest city in Siberia and all of Asian Russia. But how did this city grow to be so big?
Lets look at the history and events that lead to the growth of this important Russian city.

Script Excerpt:
Novosibirsk was founded in 1893 as a settlement for the builders of a railway bridge across the Ob river for theTrans-Siberian Railway
the bridge was finished on March 28th 1897 and it didn’t take long for a major trading and industrial settlement to start growing
By 1905 when the first census was taken there was a population of over 26,000 and a variety of economic activities were taking place.
The first time the city was influenced by any kind of conflict came in 1904 when the Russo-Japanese war began in 1904, which resulted in the mass conscription of its citizens for the army.
By the beginning of the First World War, Novosibirsk, with a population of about 60,000 people, was the center of the main routes of communication, in which the shipping of Ob river intersected with the Great Siberian Route and the Altai Railway.
The war of 1914 turned the city into a major training center for troops for the front and The city received thousands of wounded soldiers and war refugees during the entirety of the war.
Soon came the October Revolution and with it Soviet power was first established around December, 1917.
The Russian Civil War took a toll on the city.
Wartime epidemics, especially those of typhus and cholera, claimed thousands of lives.
Ob River Bridge was destroyed
and For the first time in the city's history, the population of the city began to decline.
But By the 1920’s, the city had moved on ans out of the period during which it was mainly considered a point of transfer of goods from water to rails, and acquired the importance of a factory-industrial center.
With the construction of multiple railway projects in 1920's and 30's the city became the largest transportation hub in Asian Russia.
And During Joseph Stalin's industrialization effort, Novosibirsk secured its place as one of the largest industrial centers of Siberia with multiple major facilities.
Its rapid growth and industrialization led to Novosibirsk being nicknamed the "Chicago of Siberia".
By 1934, the population had reached 287,000, making Novosibirsk the largest city in Siberia.

@@andriwahyudani1302 Yes, so many cities to do 😄
@@GeoPerspective Btw, I am interested if Russia try to move it's capital to central Eurasia? Because I see a lot of inequality in Siberia, especially Far East
:( Looking at the geopolitics on where China become so strong, influential in Far East and demonstration of Far East Russians to have better economy makes me think that Russia should move it's capital. But of course, maybe a lot of Russians didn't support this even though there are a lot of cities in middle of Siberia that capable for becoming economy capital, such as Krasnoyarsk, Novosibirsk, or even Vladivostok! I grew up in Novosibirsk in the 90s and no it wasn’t humid at all. Winters were cold but again there was no humidity so it wasn’t as uncomfortable as it is in Toronto Canada.

A good overview!
The city became insanely expensive in the last 5 years, Restaurants and Services, Taxi, Rent, are rivaling those in Saint-Petersburg price wise, while salaries are miles lower, probably around 60% of SPB and 40% of Moscow ones. The climate here is fine and not humid at all, fairly dry, opposite to what was said in the video, winters are cold and very long (starting mid October and ending In April) but it only gets to -30 for a few weeks. Transportation is atrocious, subway is really the only saving grace. There is a disgusting thing about NSK: There is a meat factory near the city and every summer you can feel the stench of pigs, and yes, right in the center of this megapolis (miles from the factory), next to futuristic buildings and what not. Pork is cheap though,
Source: been living there for 22 years and still staying there for a few months every year.
Средняя аренда за однушку 15к, если не в жопе мира, при питерских 30к за ту же однушку не рядом с метро и не в центре. Насчёт такси тоже не согласен, вполне нормально, по крайней мере для меня, с доходом ниже среднего.

Good afternoon. I am a resident of Novosibirsk. Your video is very entertaining, informative and generally truthful. But there are inaccuracies:
1) Industry in the city began to develop not in 1942, but in 1936.
2) The population at the moment (2022) is about 2000000 people. (unofficially). Officially 1380000.
3) Temperature changes: in winter up to -50, in summer up to + 48 degrees Celsius.
4) Winter begins at the end of October and ends in mid-April. Autumn and Spring together last no more than two months, the rest is summer.
5) If you go out of town in the summer, you will be attacked by a huge number of mosquitoes and midges.
Yeah, yeah -50 and +47, maybe +147? Stop bragging about extreme temperatures and mosquitoes, People from Yakutia can read this :) +47 is obviously a lie. The highest temperature ever recorded was +41. -51 is true, but it happened only once! So u should have written -40 +35, that's far more real and something that can be actually witnessed by a person who visits Nsk
