There is no such thing as a fair setup, someone is at least getting a 51% to 49% sway in the set up.
understandable but that first win was defninity a false start by auden
So while I agree you need to fight for everything in the setup possible and get the best grip you can possibly get while giving your opponent the opposite, its how you go about it, especially on the biggest stage we have. He looked like a whining child... Oh wait, he is... 😅 They shouldnt have put him on the main card of a PPV either but anything for a buck.. Very few times have i felt, 'oh that was too much devon...' Maybe once in a match where it felt like that from a certain point on with Auden and it grossed me out. I still like them both but I look forward to Milo jumping into the sport slowly because he doesn't have his moms attitude like Auden does 😅
The setup is also a fight .. gaddamn it why y'all cant understand this . Eveyone dont have the same hand..
If viewers can accept that it's a combat sport where the fight begins prior to the "go," then perhaps the subtle game of setting up and getting your grip (or slipping to get the strap game, etc.) will be something the audience may appreciate; however, if the viewer experience is that all of that is boring/annoying "cheating" or delay before the "real fight" begins, then that perception (the "optics") will only hamper the popularity of the sport of Armwrestling...
maybe
it look like shit show it was a shit show, and pros explaning it to spectators why it actually good wont work, if it looks like shit to spectator they just wont comeback next time, and no one will give a fuck if pross think it was good.
"You only get what you negotiate in life, not what you deserve" is what comes to mind ...
Auden beat James because of technique, fighting, and he was strong enough in certain areas and knew how to utilize it such as his hand in the setup and start.
If there is a reason people start falling out of love with arm wrestling, this style would be a good candidate.
Go home and cry about your poor boy.
I will also say, what a "fair grip" actually is is sort of relative right? Like does a fair grip give each guy an equal chance at winning, or is it just a standard grip that everyone conforms to. Even then, when you have different proportions and sizes of athletes, how do you accommodate that in an explicit way? The answer is you can't, which is why it ends up being a negotiation, and while obviously stuff can go too far and be cheating, if you need the ref to help you take a grip that you can win with, that you couldn't get if you were just pulling the guy straight up, isn't that playing the ref, using them to your advantage as well?
It might be late but this was the best match analysis I’ve seen. Kudos.
Auden is 1 of my favorite pullers
I think you guys did a good job focusing on the main points here. I do think when Auden held James’ hand on his side of the table, stretching him way out for almost 10 seconds after getting pinned himself - that should not be allowed. Otherwise - it’s a fight. Taste-wise I prefer it done with class, but that’s a matter of personal taste.
James himself defended that. He accidentally headbutted Auden when he screamed in Auden's face. James also said Auden was applying way less force than it looked.

There is no honor when you knowingly and intentionally cheat in the setup to the point where your opponent has no chance. You can't call yourself a better or stronger armwrestler. I hate when people, like you guys, try and condone cheating in the setup. Fight for your setup, obviously, but when you go beyond that to intentionally try and take everything away from your opponent its no longer a valid match because you're not armwrestling the other person...youre armwrestling a percent lower than 100% of that person. Sure, a match may never be able to get to 50/50 but if you have any honor on the table, you'll want to see truly who the better armwrestler is and youre not getting that when you cheat like Auden and Devon do.
That match was everything that is gay about armwrestling, especially when you come from an actual strength sport.
Then go back to pushing barbells. People who armwrestle like the technical aspect of it. If it was just about strength you can go armwrestle a pulley.
So want to keep your gayness in the gym only?
@@WooliteMammothtechical aspect is Ongarbaev finesse, not crying in the setup because you are someone son
@@justaguyfromreddit exactly, nailed it
“Actual strength sport” lmao
“Don’t be a little bitch! “🤣 love it!, you gotta fight for your right to party! Armwrestling is a fight, learn it, or don’t, sink or swim !, great video!
Cringe wrestling. Do better Auden.
Stop trying to justify the bullshit referring
they are not justifying the bad reffing, they are simply saying that Auden was just trying his best to take advantage in the setup, which is what every top armwrestler would, and should do. The reffing wasn't the best, but Auden was smart enough to take advantage of that, hence he was the better armwrestler.
yap?
@@pippyMC23 Agree, and just like soccer, people should dive whenever they get the chance to try and get the other team's players sent off or to obtain penalties. It's just the way to win and people shouldn't worry about integrity or honour. It's all about winning at all costs in a small sport where the prize money is f all.
Seriously? Wtf, is this a fucken joke
I’ve had enough
nobody cares
@@djay851 nobody but you lol
James English was just the much weaker guy that day regardless of refs
Yeah... No. In the straps where Auden couldn't manage his trickery James pinned him easily.
if James could get to his press he’d win. Hook might be close, toproll obviously goes to Auden.
@@GregArmWrestling If he was stronger than Auden he would’ve won
Not true. James was much stronger, but Auden was a much better arm wrestler. That is the point of this video. Arm wrestling is not a test of strength. Arm wrestling is a fight.
@@MusicGuyFK holy what? So far from the truth bud.
