    I love seeing people keeping the old ways alive. I grew up in the poor South. We spent many a day and evening with our old fashioned cane poles and sitting along the creek and ponds. That was the good life! Keep it going and God bless!

    Absolutely awesome video you’ve made here! My grandma showed me how to make a cane pole and a hook from a small safety pin when I was a little boy. I haven’t done it since, but this really makes me want to again. If we don’t continue and share the skills of our previous generations, they can become lost. Thank you for the love and effort you put into this.

      Yeah, it's definitely something that would be pasted on. The main reason I do this channel is to pass on what I've learned. Yeah, the floats come in a couple sizes.

      I was just thinking this. About to jump on the camera now. This time of year I spend most of my time prepping and testing everything. The full moon of February will bee here Tuesday, and I plan to hit it hard as that is often the beginning of the fishing season to me.

    I love cane pole fishing. No fancy stuff and no boat. As a kid, I fished with an elderly gentleman named Clarence who worked for my aunt on the St. John's River near Green Cove Springs Florida. My uncle was a doctor and died before I was born. He treated Clarence for a horrific case of syphilis (no charge). Clarence dedicated his life to taking care of my aunt's property after my uncle died. Anyway, the river was brackish so one could catch both freshwater and saltwater fish. Clarence would throw a handful of rabbit food off the end of her dock and an hour later after digging up some earthworms, we would fish for river mullet. We pulled up some monsters and placed them in his jute potato sack. I'll never forget how much fun that was and the stuff he shared with me, a dumb little redhead freckled city white kid. I'm writing a banjo song about that incredible experience with Clarence. As we were fishing, he told me he had to go to town, and didn't like to go into town. My stupid little brain snapped and realized what racism was and I have been disgusted by it since. This was the 1960's in Florida. Sad! RIP Clarence!

      I figure wrap with 15 lbs mono or something down to a swivel, then down to whatever line I plan to use. Use different size leaders for depth control.

    • @BlackWarriorLures
      @BlackWarriorLures  3 роки тому

      Actually the little fish are what you need to keep. The big big fish need to stay for breeding stock. Also the big fish are more toxic to eat. It is generally accepted knowledge to keep far more little fish than big fish. It's fear more sustainable. Genetically if you only take big fish, only the little fish will remain and breed. That's one reason the big monster fish from 150 years ago are so rarely caught today. The big fish have been genetically deleted form the gene pool.
