I just painted my whole living room build in bookcase and baseboard in matte blue heather from Benjamin Moore. Would never go back to white wall again.

Gorgeous. It makes me want to add more blues in my main house! I do have blue kitchen cabinets in my shophouse kitchen. Get this Mrs Julie, I had contractors all come in and say to get rid of them and to buy new ones well I went with my gut and painted them and added new hardware and now they are stunning and I saved a ton of money by not replacing them.
Contractors are NOT designers. Unless they are in fact a design/build team, then I might take some suggestions 😂

Blue is my favourite colour to decorate with. I rent so I am limited in my design elements, but my entire apartment save fo the bedroom and bathroom are bright, turquoise blue. After 13 years, I still love it. It changes with the light and everyone who has entered loves is - even those who are colour shy. They need a moment to adjust but once they have, they have told me it feel uplifting and inspiring, which is exactly what I was going for!

I feel the same way! When I started collecting inspiration images for this video, it went upwards of 200+ photos! I loved a detail from every room! I had to whittle them down or else this video would have been 2 hours long 😅
I love blue in my home. I am in the process of buying a home that needs updated, it has a red brick fireplace that matches the exterior of the home, it has a modern feel yet it feels dated, I am searching for ideas. Blue might be my go to, not sure yet.
I used to have blue couches , curtains back in the late 90’s when my kids were little . Been on a red , gold , type of decor for 20 years just in the living room . A country kitchen with all red appliances . Living room / dining room has all antiques and vintage lamps and furniture ! A couple bedrooms will be dressed up for Christmas but usually in soft pinks and purples that are calming . However I want to try some soft colors in our family room come this spring . My family is on board with it ! I want to try a English cottage country style that’s still very elegant !

Ooh thank you for this video! I love the color blue (ocean/cerulean blue specifically) but don't want to make my home look cold or like a teenager's bedroom. It's extra challenging since the rest of my design style is minimalist modern / Japandi. Trying to make it look classy, mature, warm, and welcoming while still incorporating the bright pops of color that bring me joy!
The trick is to add MORE color and not let blue sit against stark white rooms. Unless that’s your intent of course, but blue/white rooms lean cold. Sunset hues with blues lean warm 🌅💙
Watching this blue episode (love it) takes me back to when I was decorating my home white and blue, then I got into greens, then reds and whites...whatever my mood dictates...hahaha.

Great video Julie! Thanks! I just redid my first floor. I put in light blue lower kitchen cabinets and island, and painted sherwin williams smokey blue on my fireplace surround and the walls above the chair rail in my dining room. Added 2 burnt orange velvet swivel chairs plus touches of blue in the new area rugs and i love it!!!

That's what I did. I painted the inside of my kitchen door, the same color as my island, which is bluish green.The upper half of the door has clear leaded glass. My kitchen and living area is one open space. Looks great.
Hues only have to match the room they’re in, the other side can be considered another room 👏🏻 Perfect Iris!

I have a tiny guest bedroom I've been doing in blue as sort of a "chill out" space so I'm looking here for some more information. Most of it is navy but I'm incorporating other shades, too, along with an accent color.

We repainted our mid-century modern (leaning modern) loft from its original blah beige to Glimmer by Sherwin Williams (greenish blue grey) and ohhhhh my gosh it made ALL the difference! We love hanging out in the loft now! Loved this video ❤

I love this video. I got some ideas for how to use blue in my kitchen. My floor tiles and countertop has sort of an orangy tint to it. Now, I'm thinking blue rug, maybe blue backsplash. Thanks for the wonderful blue paint options.

Recently discovered your channel and loving it! So much fun insights and tips. For my part, I like all the desaturated blues and greens that are of the moment. Or some of my fav combos are blue pulling to green with pinks as well as deep navy, mint green and a very acid/green yellow.

I like Benjamin Moore Blue Danube. There’s a kitchen that was designed with white uppers and Blue Danube lowers that went the rounds a few years ago. Didn’t end up copying that when we redid the kitchen, but I did put Blue Danube in the bedroom. It’s a good match for the blues in some of my Persian rugs.
Picking up color from area rugs is pro status 🙌💙

I love blue, I just got a new med. blue bed today but am not sure if I should keep the lighter blue on the walls?! I have a white duvet and shams currently on the bed and 3 cushions. I’ll be buying new cushion covers but I suck at matching colours 🙄
Hi, I really appreciate this kind of video about colours and i love Blue and i think that a blue-brown-white Is a perfect relaxing palette for bedrooms...but since i don't live near the beach i prefer a modern neutral black and White palette for the living room maybe with accent of blue and grey- Blue kitchen cabinetry, bye😊
A lot of these blues don’t feel coastal to me at all, which is what I love about blue’s versatility 💙
We have used blues in every home since the 90’s. Currently we are pairing peacock blue with chocolate brown in the master bedroom.

I always loved blue. But I had trouble coordinating it with other colors. I know a lot more about how to work with blue so it would not overwhelm the design. I still have blue in my home in upholstery curtains and fine china. It’s really a color I am drawn to.
I hope you see blue in a new lens when it’s paired up with similarly saturated hues. It feels less bold and more like a supporting actor. Especially with coral or orange, my new favorite combination Margaret 🌅

Is a dark turquoise/blue statement wall with cream walls ok for the bedroom? I thought dark blues in the bed room was a no no for feng shui becuase its a water color, it doesnt help you sleep. Can you clarify? Also, how does having a bold color on one wall affect mood/vibes? We have popcorn ceiling so I dont think well paint it.
Oh, Julie... I can't even tell you how much I appreciate you right now!!! 😭I have been struggling with what to use for a template in my kitchen remodel, and you just gave me the perfect inspiration with the kitchen you put at 10:52. Wow, that is beautiful! I love stone (but not too much), I love metal (but not too much, and those bar stools are fire!), I completely LOVE the exposed wood beams (but I struggled on whether it would work on 8' ceilings!), I love black/white colors (love the high contrast, but not patterns; love the black cabinets in the background with white countertops/walls!) and I love brown/blue/green colors togehter (mountain/island soothing earthiness... I'd have natural plants in that space too!). I absolutely LOVE that black/gold hood vent, but I don't completely love gold everything. Could I get away with black faucets, black lamps, gold/black hood, and gold drawer handles with a darker colored wood floor, with a glossier sheen on the ceiling?

Each room can have their own distinct style. You don’t need to coordinate them at all. Unless you are going for a cohesive look, I would keep all the furniture light to contrast with the dark walls. Think shades of ivories and creams mixed with natural materials like cotton and linen Talisa. I’m a huge fan of warm walnut/ rich oak flooring to warm up interiors

Blues and blacks are perfect for a north corner room. Think of your focal point first and relegate the color to where you have the most impact like a headboard or sofa! 🛋️
