S1 was very experimental with surrealism as well, like the “take a bite of this sandwich” bit in the pilot. It’s just the most accessible in comparison to S2 and especially S3.
Season 1 and 2 had cultural issues that required you to read into the deeper meanings aswell, only difference was there was a cohesive plot, character development, humor etc. all which was lacking this year, season 3 was trash sorry to say

We are black and this season is awful. They took the Atlanta out of Atlanta. Trying to please critics instead of keeping the dna of the show. No episode this season can hold a candle to any episode in seasons 1 and 2. Laughed once all season. Fast forwarded a lot.

And Season 3 is taking us to a place outside of the mostly Black Atlanta and seeing how our characters interact with a mostly white world while navigating what it looks like to maintain that ATL mindset or needing to adjust.

The next stage you come into this awareness that nobody was even thinking about you anyway, everyone is just responding to these paradigms they’ve built. Honestly I feel like how much your gonna enjoy this Season is determined by how long you’ve been watching the show for. If you only started watching it recently (1yr-now) like me your gonna really enjoy this season and see it for what it is. But if you’ve watched this show since the very beginning or even since S2 I don’t think your gonna fully enjoy it because you’ve been waiting YEARS and have made connections with these characters in a way that newer fans (like myself) can’t.
Whiteness was something Donald has been tackling since BTI days. Listen to interviews during that era. Whiteness has always been something that has been part of his world. Racism is something that will forever haunt him no matter how rich, or influential he may be. It's so engraved that it forms part of the deepest parts of his psyche, even in his wildest fantasy whiteness slaps him back to reality. Look at MBDFT, this is Kanye's most twisted fantasies are informed by the inescapable realities of being Black. Season 4 is him reminding us that there's always a part where whiteness has presumed innocence and purity, which is why Black subconsciously aligns themselves to white esthetics (code switching or the way we dress).
Honestly, this was the best season of Atlanta yet, possibly the best season of television I have seen in recent years. I would be very disappointed if the show runners went in a different direction next season just to please fans. The season was psychologically dense and mesmerizing like nothing on television right now.

This show in earlier seasons did a good job of balancing out weirder episodes that addressed important issues while still mainly focusing on the MAIN CHARACTERS that are Van, Earn, Alfred, and Darius. Now the MAIN CHARACTERS are barely even in this season. It's just another episode about white people and race that we already know about. It's really not that groundbreaking other than the first episode which is actually based on a true story.

The plot is pretty straight forward tho. They touring and reaping all the work they put in, while having some of the weird interactions along the way. The episodes that don’t have everybody just build up about serious topics that we should recognize and just look at.
It s a very republican / trumpish season, for sure. It s a stab at europe as: look,this place has no gun in school, death penalty and health it s free,as well as education. But it sucks.
I never got that message from the show. I took it as the writers thinking about Black celebrity and fame (as far as Paper Boi’s storyline) and the weird shit attached to that, especially on a global level.

Season 3 really sucks !
Man, im so confused. I like the show atlanta. Not a bunch of short stories that has nothing to do with the original cast.
it's a rich and complex conceptual web of stories. Just cause y'all want the soap opera shit of "is Earn still with Van?" "will Paper Boi keep rapping?" doesn't mean it sucks. There's nothing confusing, you just don't get it. Follow along, it's not the typical show you wish it to be.

Ohh, i understand the stories. But when i choose to watch Atlanta on this network I Didnt want to see a remake on the white lady drowning her adopted kids. I wanted to see Atlanta. The plot was already edgy. Now its like a different show.
The stories will be great as long as they tie it all together. That would be some great writing. But the season is almost done and I don't see how they are going to do it. Like the reparation episode it would be great as a black mirror episode but as Atlanta...
Season 3 is horrible 🤷🏾♂️ has no plot
The plot is pretty straight forward tho. They touring and reaping all the work they put in, while having some of the weird interactions along the way. The episodes that don’t have everybody just build up about serious topics that we should recognize and just look at.

He literally tells you in the video. The show is full of short stories. I feel like everyone is butt hurt about Clark County not being in it.

The worst Atlanta season. Disappointing.
It s a very republican / trumpish season, for sure. It s a stab at europe as: look,this place has no gun in school, death penalty and health it s free,as well as education. But it sucks.
I never got that message from the show. I took it as the writers thinking about Black celebrity and fame (as far as Paper Boi’s storyline) and the weird shit attached to that, especially on a global level.

I think it's a very leftist season that critiques performative liberalism especially in white people and tries to explore the experience if being in Europe including, the subtle racism which manifests very differently. I don't see how it's Republican. Asking uncomfortable questions is just what Atlanta does best
This new season is TRASH. I'm so disappointed. Maybe they waited to long
