This team hooked us into a show by feeding people an easily enjoyable, and funny show in the first season. But then season 2 comes around, and the experimenting starts to show. IE: Teddy Perkins. When this team realized that was one of the most talked about episodes of the show. I feel like they said "Its time". And finally started to build the world they have envisioned. This show is one of the most incredibly written shows on cable tv. People who are now "disappointed" are disappointed because they don't want to understand these cultural issues and read into the deeper meanings.
S1 was very experimental with surrealism as well, like the “take a bite of this sandwich” bit in the pilot. It’s just the most accessible in comparison to S2 and especially S3.
Season 1 and 2 had cultural issues that required you to read into the deeper meanings aswell, only difference was there was a cohesive plot, character development, humor etc. all which was lacking this year, season 3 was trash sorry to say

S3 just spent more time side storys(which were great) but not the main story. There's many grey areas in the latest season
Series 3 was a masterpiece. No episode in Atlanta is ever the same, and there is so much variety between seasons and episodes. It's understandable that maybe some fans might not like that, but I think its good to challenge the viewer to accept different styles.

Wouldn’t change a thing about this show. Absolute masterpiece Don, keep pushing the boundaries. I hope Atlanta goes on for many more seasons
It’s like the stages of life. You spend the first stage being taught these social and cultural norms. The next stage of life is spent worried about what everyone thinks about how you adhere to or drift from those norms. The next stage you come into this awareness that nobody was even thinking about you anyway, everyone is just responding to these paradigms they’ve built. Then you finally hit a stage where you don’t really care what people think, because you realize how much time you’ve waisted on vanity and narcism, so you then o overcompensate. That’s why old people are often too honest because they spent so much time lying to themselves

I’m seeing a lot of people are disappointed with this new season. But it’s brilliant writing and tactically tense. don’t count any of these episodes out as just filler. I think it’ll tie in as we end the season and go into the 4th.
Hoping so because if not, this season will EASILY be remembered as the absolute worst.

People want to be spoon fed and entertained mostly. Atlanta this season is dealing with some deep cultural issues that are very important so it may not be everyone’s cup of tea due to lost people’s short attention spans

@@aaroniic I actually feel as though this season *is* actually closer to spoon feeding. It's not so much that it deviates from the main cast. It's more that it feels far more didactic and is more concerned with conveying specific pieces of information as opposed to evoking feelings.

We are black and this season is awful. They took the Atlanta out of Atlanta. Trying to please critics instead of keeping the dna of the show. No episode this season can hold a candle to any episode in seasons 1 and 2. Laughed once all season. Fast forwarded a lot.
@@d3vp131 Awful? Just go watch Love and Hip Hop then if all you want is to be entertained. This show is telling a stories. Think about it as Atlanta is the bedrock but there are similar occurrences going on all over the world that are not talked about and that directly affects each character in Atlanta in a different way
@@d3vp131 Did you watch this video at all? That's the beauty that I believe you are missing, Donald has even said it himself. Atlanta is a mindset and a character in of itself. And Season 3 is taking us to a place outside of the mostly Black Atlanta and seeing how our characters interact with a mostly white world while navigating what it looks like to maintain that ATL mindset or needing to adjust.

The show in itself isn't cyclical, and the essence of the blackness in this show is something that can be experienced outside of Atlanta itself. I come from Kenya and have related to so much in every season, both in my home city and when I've traveled.
Critically speaking, from a film maker perspective, it's not perfect, but what they've got right has been incredible. Funnily enough I've enjoyed the episodes Hiro has directed the most. Afro-surrealism at its best.

@@debrachambers1304 not that weird of a combo. Donald was in Adventure Time and he loves that show. I’ll bet a lot of the staff and cast love Adventure Time, too. Both have that weird off-kilter, magic realism/surrealism flow. Like when you just woke up from a dream and someone asks you a question. I bet his third favourite is Twin Peaks haha.
@@FF-ch9nr Tangential, but Twin Peaks: The Return reminds me more of Atlanta than the original. It feels more off and stilted.

the last episode ties in the whole season and makes it timeless
“Atlanta” has NEVER been a show that was predictable or wasn’t experimental. Fans just miss Earn & the gang in S3; it seems deliberately done though as the final & 4th season was filmed with 3. They clearly had A LOT to say before wrapping up the main storyline.
How awesome that he gets to share this experience with his brother... Hard to ignore that family resemblance. That Glover nose. ☺️

4 and 7 are my favourite episodes so far. Episode 7 the Trini spirit had me mesmerised. Trinidad Carnival 2023 for me for sure! Need to book my hotel ASAP!!
Yeah trini to da bone had me hooked. Best episode. It had a bunch of layers, themes that seemed more … plausible. Maybe it just fit a paradigm I understand. Idk

idk why people are hating on the new season. It does feel disjointed at times bc it tends to have those standalone episodes that don't feature any of the cast members but that's how it always has been. For the most parts, the topics that each episode tackles is executed as well as the show did in Seasons 1 and 2.

No season 1 and 2 always featured the cast in some way season 3 used half the season literally to do 1 offs that were hit and miss.. season 4 feels much more like Atlanta

Honestly I feel like how much your gonna enjoy this Season is determined by how long you’ve been watching the show for. If you only started watching it recently (1yr-now) like me your gonna really enjoy this season and see it for what it is. But if you’ve watched this show since the very beginning or even since S2 I don’t think your gonna fully enjoy it because you’ve been waiting YEARS and have made connections with these characters in a way that newer fans (like myself) can’t.

Donald glover is an interesting person. He creates and thinks very deeply yet attempts to deliver the message in a comical way. Sometimes in this interview there was awkwardness because he wears a large grin while completely revealing dark truths of society. lol

@@WAVEZCLUB Glover used to add subversive themes in the way a parent adds vegetables into a picky kids food. They were blended into more broad stories, some undetectable if you weren’t looking. You gain the knowledge, but you don’t do so actively.
In the years since he has stopped trying to play subtle, now it’s a salad. The themes are on full display, they are denser, and they play off eachother without any sugary sweet diversion.

Honestly, this was the best season of Atlanta yet, possibly the best season of television I have seen in recent years. I would be very disappointed if the show runners went in a different direction next season just to please fans. The season was psychologically dense and mesmerizing like nothing on television right now.

Someone said on Twitter, "Is this whole season of Atlanta about white people?" and I agree. This show in earlier seasons did a good job of balancing out weirder episodes that addressed important issues while still mainly focusing on the MAIN CHARACTERS that are Van, Earn, Alfred, and Darius. Now the MAIN CHARACTERS are barely even in this season. It's just another episode about white people and race that we already know about. It's really not that groundbreaking other than the first episode which is actually based on a true story.

The season started off strong but the last 3 episodes were Meh. I think people are disappointed because of the decline. The first episode of season 3 was the best and then I think it never got to that level again.
God this season was garbage. And they’re here acting like they made someone incredible.
I respect their right for artistic integrity and exploration. Cool. However, I just feel let down after waiting 4 YEARS for this show to return, only to find majority of the episodes doesn’t feature the main cast at all. Sorry. Enjoy your deeper meaning on cultural issues, racism and blah blah blah…the reality is it doesn’t make for an enjoyable viewing. They’ve done stories touching on these topics before but with WAY BETTER EXECUTION. I stop watching many episodes ago. It was just exhausting to watch. And as a fan, I don’t want to feel like I have to work for my entertainment when I’m at home trying to relax and watch a tv show.

Ohh, i understand the stories. But when i choose to watch Atlanta on this network I Didnt want to see a remake on the white lady drowning her adopted kids. I wanted to see Atlanta. The plot was already edgy. Now its like a different show.
The stories will be great as long as they tie it all together. That would be some great writing. But the season is almost done and I don't see how they are going to do it. Like the reparation episode it would be great as a black mirror episode but as Atlanta...

The plot is pretty straight forward tho. They touring and reaping all the work they put in, while having some of the weird interactions along the way. The episodes that don’t have everybody just build up about serious topics that we should recognize and just look at.

I never got that message from the show. I took it as the writers thinking about Black celebrity and fame (as far as Paper Boi’s storyline) and the weird shit attached to that, especially on a global level.
