Because their studies are lackluster and hypotheses are being researched to increase profit margins instead of pure scientific experimentation and investigation in it's own right!
Recall that a lot of "science" is a business. They mostly protect patents. And they don't get in the way of other patents or interests without being attacked. It's not that it's getting "efficient". It's that it's unlikely to get funding etc.
Funny that this reminds me of an episode of the documentary series "The Occult History of Nazi Germany" : they mention that in the 19th century as the 18th century was closing - there was a hope that "science and liberalism" would bring a better future. And by the middle of the 19th century the promises never appeared. Just like the current time. More inventions more science does not equal a better quality of life.
Note that the rise in "social media" has resulted in a rise in loneliness, depression, neurotic behavior, anger, and the coincidental rise in "Karen" behavior.

He's "deeply interested in kind of understanding" why something "exponentially declines".
His fashion is smarter than his diction.
Wow great video. Horrible explanation of what the video is saying.
