I have that exact humidifier and I'm pretty sure in the instructions it says not to put it on wood furniture and to keep it at least a foot away from the walls.
...... I’d be surprised if they were willing to pay for the damage to the dresser because the instructions even state always put humidifier on a water proof surface. A wooden dresser clearly isn’t water proof.
