“Reggae is simple music but definitely not easy”- I couldn’t agree more with you Stahl. Very nice, to the point and approachable instruction of Chak-a. Yes I....Bless Up, ArtuRas
"Simple but definitely not easy..." Damn right! I've been sitting here with my guitar for the better part of an hour trying to get the sound right, and it's surprisingly difficult. (Though I'm a finger picker and I'm having better luck with plucking than picking at the moment...) Thanks for sharing.
Nice one Stahl! We always called them "chucks" in FEB, which describes the sound really well! I remember a fan saying to me "Don't you get bored playing reggae? It's only chuck chuck the whole time..." I told him it's not as easy as it looks/sounds, and that there's a lot more to it. I think timing and groove are the essence of playing reggae, maybe worth mentioning in another video. I always tended to play behind the beat, so a little bit late, but consistent, giving it a softer lazier feel. If you play rigidly right on the beat (or even in front of it) it seems to push the tempo. Look forward to more videos!
When i play the bass i like the guitarchops to not be late, i almost like the hi-hat and the chops too feel i little little bit pushy so the bass can be late at some places where it fits the groove. What do you reggaemusicians think about that, hanging or stressig etc?
Yo what chords are you using, and I have been trying to make my guitar sound like the chop on Kick Down by Long Beach Dub Allstars.. can you check out the song and give me a tip on how to create that sound
Thanks for the beautiful and concise tutorial! I struggle to get that clear treble off my les paul (special with burstbuckers), usually sounds darker. It's nice but not as clean. Are you using cocked wah throughout or how do get tone so treble crisp without the harshness? I'm currently using a princeton reverb with 0 on bass and 10 on treble lol. Thanks in advance for any tips!

Really nice video!! Thanks
Really sounded like you were trying to speak with a Jamaican accent 😮. Anyway great tone and and use of effects 👍
bro this is amazing! can you please make a video about the guitar pedal effects for that tone? thanks appreciate it
Hey thanks 🙏
Will try and think of that in my next video… 👍🏼
Can you please tell me that "main chord" you use to chop & chaka.
Jah Bless
exelente
If you don’t have any pedals what amp could I also use like for reverbs etc

Great video! How hard do you hit the strings with your pick? What size strings? Much love! ❤
nice guitar
What effects apart from the wah are you using in this video please
Just a chorus. In this video i used the chorus from my JC 120. Sometimes i might add a delay or a big reverb to make a single chop stand out! Bless…😀
@@karlstuhl7651 What were the settings on the JC? That sounded insane! 🔥
Good tips!
Nice!
P.S. you turn your pic to blunt corner or flat side for stuck lines? Cheers!!
We also did a video explaining how i play the stuck line…😎
Do you mute with your right hand too?
Hi bro, what other all the pedals being used in this video
In this video i‘m only using the wahwah pedal… Reverb and chorus from my Roland JC 120 amplifier! 🙏
Awesome! Which amp do you use for the chop? (and settings?)
I‘m using a Roland JC 120! Treble: 5,5 Bass: 6 Mids: 5,5 Reverb :2,5

I‘m using the wah like i explained. Also i have treb mid and bass more or less on 6/7. Volume on like 5/6. Plus the reverb on 3-ish…
Forgot to mention that I’m using a roland JC 120…
PLUS i lower the volume on the Guitar to like 7 when i'm playing a chop. Guess that's what gets rid of the harshness you mentioned…
it's not just the wahwah pedal, you can hear that there's also a chorus or phaser,,,,,,
Yeah but does it dient? 😂
