The Miyako Show!! I once was a piano player. Lovebites is a collection of elite level talent all the way around. If I have to pick a favorite, it's most definitely Miyako.
Best damn metal song in the last 30yrs. This is taking the best sounds from Metallica, GNR, and Maiden and putting into one classic composition. Everyone in the band is out of this world talent, but at 4'9", Haruna is an absolute pocket nuke behind that drum kit. Her speed / pace is just ridiculous the entire song, every song. Akane (Band-Maid) is awesome and does great solos, but Haruna is just mind boggling because she goes fast AF the entire duration of every song, non-stop. Other than Epilogue. 😁🐺 Great job with the react and recognition of how they folded Chopin's piece into the song itself! And yes, Miyako is a virtuoso, not of this earth. lol
Take a rather shy, introverted young lady who is a bit of a geek, a star wars fan, a bit goofy, keeps snakes and owls and is devoted to her animals and you'd have to say she's just a little bit crazy. But genius doesn't fit your normal parameters of human behaviour. Genius is always a touch off the mediocrity of normality. But put that genius into their own world, in this case in front of a piano or with a guitar in their hands, and something magical happens. Miyako is just such a genius; an enigma in front of your eyes that can weave spells with her music and transport you to strange and mystical places from the depths of her own extraordinary mind. We are privileged to witness such genius and can only shake our heads in bewildered awe at the wonder of it.
She is not only a godsend to metal but to modern contemporary music in general. Music has become to genetic in the last 20 30years or so. And then Lovebites and unlucky morpheus as if by magic.
Miyako is one of the big reasons Lovebites dont have a bad song. She is a musical prodigy and she was classically trained before learning guitar so her composition skills are out of this world and different from most people today. Also how she got her nickname "The Golden Touch" became pretty much everything she touches becomes gold
In 1831, a rebellion by some officers and civilians against the Polish government under the control of the Russian Empire failed due to direct Russian intervention. Chopin is informed of this news during his journey. He lost his place to return. When Russian troops invaded Warsaw, Chopin's agents announced "Etude OP10, No12" in Paris. People called it a "revolutionary etude" because the agents exaggerated and promoted the song. Miyako composed "Swan Song" with reference to "Revolutionary Etude" and Dvorak's "From the New World". Former ballerina Asami composed the historical background of "Revolutionary Etude" with the image of "Swan Lake". "Swan Song" is a requiem dedicated to the warriors who fought to regain their hometown, and is a masterpiece that only LOVEBITES can produce.
"Throwing in some classical"--Actually, Miyako incorporates classical motifs into a lot of her compositions. Thank you for finally checking this out. Some background for your viewers who aren't familiar with classical: Chopin (pronounced Show-pan) was a Polish-born Romantic-era (1800’s) classical composer and piano virtuoso who lived most of his life in France. He is considered one of the greatest classical composers of all time. Miyako, who composes a lot of Lovebites’ music, is a professional-level concert pianist, and was originally going to make classical music her career. When she was 18, she picked up a guitar, and is now (quite obviously) an elite-level guitarist. She particularly likes the Romantic Era classical composers like Debussy, Dvořák, Chopin and Rachmaninoff. She composed “Swan Song” using elements of the New World Symphony (Dvořák) and Chopin’s Revolutionary Etude (official name Étude Opus 10, No. 12 in C minor).
Miyako gets all the praise in this track, rightly so. But Haruna is a machine in this performance, her fills are awesome. Check out “Dystopia Symphony” from the EP “Glory, Glory to the World”. No live equivalent, but it’s a track written by Miyako that I think exemplifies just how dangerous she is. (“Dangerous”… I love that description!)
Japan takes it's music education seriously, it's why every member of this band, has written music for the band.......but Miyako, is on another level !! React too the, " E " songs ; Edge of the World Empty Daydream & Epilogue. ❤🎙🎸🎹🥁😎👌
Yep you nailed it. I concur with everything you said. They are just so mind boggling good. Have you done Edge of the World yet, from the same live show?
Yes, Miyako is an Evil Genius when it comes to music😉. But, believe it or not she learned to play guitar out of a BOOK! She is totally self-taught (along with stealing licks from everybody she ever played/jammed with - like every guitarist, moi included). I love the fact that she has incorporated a little of what she has seen and learned from Midori (who shreds as well as Anyone, Anywhere, Ever) without compromising her very unique style. She pushes herself and tests her abilities more Live onstage than almost any other players I've seen- which makes for that raw pure sound she produces, along with an occasional missed or sour note. Great Reaction, BTW. 🤘🐺🤘
That is true, but the last solo - a continuation of the piece that plays during the chorus - is a portion of another of Chopin's Etudes, called Ocean (rising and falling waves[arpeggios] ) Fun fact, Chopin NEVER personally named anything he wrote by anything other than a number.
I would love to know what Miyako does or doesn't do at 7:41 to make her drop her left hand and roll her eyes. I've done the same gesture, though my mistakes are usually glaring and obvious. Anyway, Miyako can plays bass and drums to various extents, too. There's a video out there somewhere where Miyako and Asami perform "Rising," and it's just vocals and piano. It's gorgeous. Oh her Instagram, there are clips of her playing "The Apocalypse" and "Empty Daydream" on piano and it's always so lovely. I'd love to hear her do a piano duet with Kanami from BAND-MAID or Yuko from Wagakki Band.
LOVEBITES - Swan Song lyrics: If this was the last day you could live on this earth Would you still go on, accusing someone for today It’s better to fail than not do anything at all It is not the length, but depth of life that counts Oh brave soldier Oh gallant warrior Valor to those who died in battle to Valhalla Believe what’s in your soul For death will come to all You shall rest peacefully in God’s Heaven Floating lotus You are so graceful Saintly and glorious Till the end of time Floating lotus You are so beautiful Sing me your sweet song The legend of the swan If you’ve never hoped, you’ve never been though despair Ignorance is bliss, it’s easier to not care You might think it’s meaningless to sacrifice a life Sometimes the life of one can save so many more Oh brave soldier Oh gallant warrior Valor to those who died in battle to Valhalla Believe what’s in your soul For death will come to all You shall rest peacefully in God’s Heaven Floating lotus You are so graceful Saintly and glorious Till the end of time Floating lotus You are so beautiful Sing me your sweet song The legend of the swan Floating lotus You are so graceful Saintly and glorious Till the end of time Floating lotus You are so beautiful Sing me your sweet song The legend of the swan ----- lyrics: asami music: miyako arrangement: LOVEBITES (miho, haruna, midori, miyako, asami)
Swan Song is final song from their most recent full length album, Electric Pentagram, released in January, 2020. Miyako wrote 6 of the 12 songs on the album and, unlike the other band members, she does not collaborate with Mao (a Japanese keyboardist/composer) in either the writing or the arranging. Miyako also works fast in her songwriting. Her six songs were completed before any of the other six. Besides Swan Song, her other five songs on Electric Pentagram are Raise Some Hell, Today is the Day, When Destinies Align, Signs of Deliverance and Set the World On Fire. With Miho gone, even more of the songwriting will fall on her very capable shoulders (as well as more songs from Asami and Midori). Fingers crossed that we will have a new Lovebites album in early 2023. I have no doubt that Miyako already has at least 8 songs already composed.
yeah - and I love the way she emphasized the melody rather than the left hand part. Most pianists reverse that. I think that says a lot about her commitment to Melody.
The Miyako Show!!

Miyako started playing the piano when she was 3 years old. she was a prodigy. She only started playing guitar when she was 18
and she is self taught, never had a lesson
I simply love this band 🐺

Midas Miako ...: D
The gods had mercy on him, for he is one of them.

Miyako can also play drums, and slap a bass.
She is a musical savant and while all of them can compose, she is the genius.

Miyako been playing piano since age 3. She is a world class classical concert pianist and composes many of Lovebites music.
For "Swan Song" Miyako combined elements of her favorite classics: Chopin's "Revolutionary Etude" and Dvorak's "New World Symphony"

I heard the bit Miyako incorporated into the song was actually Dvorak

LOVEBITES - Swan Song lyrics:
If this was the last day you could live on this earth
Would you still go on, accusing someone for today
It’s better to fail than not do anything at all
It is not the length, but depth of life that counts
Oh brave soldier
Oh gallant warrior
Valor to those who died in battle to Valhalla
Believe what’s in your soul
For death will come to all
You shall rest peacefully in God’s Heaven
Floating lotus
You are so graceful
Saintly and glorious
Till the end of time
Floating lotus
You are so beautiful
Sing me your sweet song
The legend of the swan
If you’ve never hoped, you’ve never been though despair
Ignorance is bliss, it’s easier to not care
You might think it’s meaningless to sacrifice a life
Sometimes the life of one can save so many more
Oh brave soldier
Oh gallant warrior
Valor to those who died in battle to Valhalla
Believe what’s in your soul
For death will come to all
You shall rest peacefully in God’s Heaven
Floating lotus
You are so graceful
Saintly and glorious
Till the end of time
Floating lotus
You are so beautiful
Sing me your sweet song
The legend of the swan
Floating lotus
You are so graceful
Saintly and glorious
Till the end of time
Floating lotus
You are so beautiful
Sing me your sweet song
The legend of the swan
