  • Air Belgium Airbus A340-300 OO-ABB engine-start/pushback and takeoff from Runway 27L at London Heathrow, operating flight BA93 to Toronto Pearson, Canada, on behalf of British Airways. BA have charted in this aircraft and crew for the summer specifically to fly this route - my first time on any A340! The engines on the 200/300 series are nicknamed the "hair dryers" because of their interesting shape, and the common assumption in some circles that they deliver poor performance because of the seemingly shallow, poor climb rate (which it certainly appears to be here!) - of course, this is likely because the takeoff thrust is usually de-rated. The aircraft is ex-Finnair. Watch the approach and landing into Toronto Pearson at • Air Belgium (BA) A340-...

    Brilliant video! I'm a big fan of the A340's, even if they have hair dryer engines!

    Indeed a great wide body bird. When I hear the engines roar giving all their power at take off I have the feeling they will chock... Nice catch. Any landing of this trip?

      flygwada971 link to the landing is in the description! You’ll also find the takeoff and landing of the return flight to Heathrow in the same aircraft on my channel as well!

    What was that that fell around the 5:45 mark? I have flown on Cathay Pacific's A340-300 and B747-400 and Boeing wins by a long shot. The rate of climb on the A340 was like a goose with lead gumboots compared to the 747.

      Probably something in the galley that wasn't secured properly.

    a edelweiss a340 takes off over my apartment in Bogota colombia, I always think its just another a320 until it gets right over the house and I hear a very pronounced "Whoosh" sound because it has 2 more engines than a320 and is a heavy.

    Feels so weird to be in a twin aisle aircraft then during take off it sounds exactly like a 737/A320

      @AurumUsagi 4 роки тому +1

      @@noah9130 Well, they both have similar buzzsaw sounds, but the biggest difference between the CFM56 and RB211 is that the latter has three N stages, while the former has just two, and doesn't use EPR as the takeoff reference.

    • @noah9130
      @noah9130 4 роки тому

      Aurum Punzel Maybe there are some similarities but it's not like when you hear an a320 and an a340 (they have almost the same engines)

    • @757Superfan
      @757Superfan 3 роки тому +1

      It sounds similar to the RB211s yet i can tell a huge difference.
