  • Today I'll be explaining how to install Barrina LED t5 6500k LED light strips to a switch! These lights are amazing and I hope you enjoy the tutorial
    Link to these LED lights on Amazon:
    www.amazon.com/Barrina-Integr...
    Following me through the process of installing LED Garage Lights in my 2 car garage. I wanted modern LED lights for the garage because I plan to work on my cars pretty often and the single light bulb just won't be enough light.
    I went on Amazon and ordered (12) Barrina LED T5 lights (listed as: (Pack of 6) Barrina LED T5 Integrated Single Fixture, 4FT, 2200lm, 6500K), for my specific design I needed (12) lights.
    I went to Lowes and got some extra wiring, a cover for the hole in the ceiling, a self-leveling laser to help me install these straight, and I used a soldering iron to extend the wires found in the kit.
    Initially I was very impressed with the light kit and the items found in the box, they provide a lot of additional hardware so that customers can use these lights in a variety of applications.
    I used (4) lights on each side of the garage making a "U" shape. First we need to install the brackets for the lights, then mount the lights themselves, and last we'll wire everything together.
    Make sure to be safe and switch off your breaker for the garage light power, and also make sure to test the wire once you shut it off. I used a cheap multimeter that I found online.
    Let me know what you think about the install and if you have any questions comment below.

    I really enjoyed the video. You convinced me to wire directly into my ceiling rather than use the plugs that come with many of these LED light kits. I do a lot of detailing and the more light the better, especially for ceramic coating applications.

    Nice video, thanks! Came across it after I installed our Barrina lights and great minds think alike. Ours are almost identical but I used two fixture kits with 10 lights each. I went with 5000K as the 6500K lights are just a little too blue/white for me. FWIW, there are drywall anchors that work great with the supplied brackets. They are #4-6 x 7/8". I bought them from Home Depot for a few dollars. I also added the additional wiring to reach the original junction box. SinLoon T5 T8 LED Lamp Connecting Wire works perfectly with Barrina lights. A laser light will cut measuring and mounting time in half. 👍 Keep up the great work!

    Nice vid, but I wouldn't braid the power supply lines, just because it would make it harder to troubleshoot/replace one of the lines if you have a problem. Also, you should make sure you're using rosin core solder for home electrical + lead free electrical solder flux + a soldering iron meant for electrical if the temperature isn't adjustable. The flux and/or rosin core clean the surface area of copper as it melts, making a better electrical connection with less resistance/heat during normal operation.

    I have 60 or 65 of these same exact lights installed over 3 years ago at my warehouse and they are awsome . Not single one ever blew up yet and they have been on 24 hours since 3 years now ! Awsome lights for fraction of the price .
    One thing I am not sure about in your install is the “speaker wire” as you said , you used to power them on to main house wire , not sure how many gauge is that wire you installed , although these are low powered led lights but it takes in full 110v, and I think if u hage them on for longer period of time those wires should short due to heat ! Unless they are high gauge wires to take in 110v!
    None the less nice install 👍🏼

    Hahaha I can almost feel your excitement when the lights came on! Looks good man! Gave me so much inspiration as I'm trying to look for lighting for my garage also. With your "perimeter" setup, how's lighting in the center of the garage, for example when you need to work on the cars? I thought you should've replaced that channel with another strip of light for better lighting in the center.

    • @scottmuench6855
      @scottmuench6855 2 роки тому

      the lights are 46" long so I spaced them 23" apart - tip use cardboard from box to make a 23" template to quickly lay them out (from end of first light 11.5", then 23" from then on provides 2 clips per light all spaced perfect)

    great video! i'm about to do mine as well and noticed the instructions said not to link a certain amount of lights together. have you had any issues? thanks

    • @JordanPayneLV
      @JordanPayneLV  2 роки тому +1

      Correct, yeah there is some concern with linking many of them together, this is due to the current required and the thickness of the wire and how much power it can take after so much resistance is loaded. The limit of this is vague, some people say they’ve linked up to 6 in a row with no issues.
      I can say that I haven’t had any issues at all with my setup and even after accidentally leaving the lights on overnight several times, I’ve had no problems :)

    No issues running all 12 lights to one socket?

    • @JordanPayneLV

      Nope! To one socket is okay but you need to run separate connections with only 6 lights chained together because the wires inside the lights can’t support the current for more than 6.
