HELP!!! I have been abducted by Explorer of the Seas, Actually Chris, it looks like RC is taking you for a test drive for a possible permanent top position as casino host. And if that is the case, you will have to work the smaller ships for awhile to develop your skills before getting back to the larger ships again. This could be a great opportunity for advancement in your careen. With your personality and attitude, I don't think cruise director is out of your reach in the longer term.
Just booked a back to back on the Explorer from Miami to Venice, on board for 20 days starting next April. This will be first time doing a cruise longer than 7 days, so obviously first transatlantic. We are so looking forward to it.
I actually worked on parts of the design for the performance spaces on Explorer and helped commission the ship. When it was built it was the largest ship in the RCI fleet and was briefly the largest cruise ship in the world. Funny that it's now considered "mid-sized" but it was great to see that she's still looking good.
I was on Explorer a long time ago. It was a brand new ship when I went on it , although it's not as modern as the Oasis and Quantum class , RC kept the ship well!! I loved this vlog! I have been thinking of going to Santorini, and now I must book because you have confirmed hiw breath taking it is....thank you, Chris. Please keep making vlogs while you work on RC, you are getting to be a pro and have your own style ❤
The Explorer looks very well maintained for a ship of her age, no rust streaks on her hull as you walked by her in the port. Impressive! Oh and Santorini is sooooo beautiful! Having sailed on Explorer and several other Voyager class ships, I have always really enjoyed the Voyager and Freedom class ships, perhaps more than Oasis/Quantam class. Hang in there.
One of my biggest regrets was not taking an opportunity to become a trainer at my first job. I loved my job and didn't think I'd do well training, so I passed. Bravo to you for embracing this moment and rising to the occasion. This may not be what you want, you may miss your friends on Symphony, etc. And I know the changing plans are frustrating from above, but be flexible. This is probably a challenging time for management staffing to deal with, figuring out a permanent solution. Until it actually happens, things can fall through. Plans can change, as you've seen. Being the guy they can count on in a crisis is going to be a good thing for you moving forward. Whether it's advancement at RC or just for your personal benefit in your own life. Santorini has caught my eye recently. This vlog has solidified it as a must see destination. Thank you!

Hang in there dude. Just go with it and make the best of the situation. I've run into many things in my career and often I say to myself that things happen for a reason. I've been in situations where I went into something or was assigned to something that had many unknowns. They typically lead to better things. If you're doing a job that's higher level than before that's a good thing and can lead to a better gig elsewhere.
Hopefully you are being compensated appropriately for being accommodating in the assignment changes and in the added responsibilities. Great little peek at Greece.

The 8.5-metre (28 ft) tall statue of Gregory of Nin by Ivan Meštrović in Split is a busy tourist site in the town, which the toe of the statue shows. Rubbing the statue's toe is said to bring good luck. The toe has been worn smooth and shiny as a result. The statue was erected in September 1929 in the Peristyle of Diocletian's Palace and can be seen in postcards of the pre-World War II period. In 1941, the statue was moved outside the city by Italian occupying forces. In 1954, it was re-erected in a different location, to the north of the Palace and Old Town of Split, just outside the Golden Gate, where it currently sits. Another awesome vlog. We love Explorer of the Seas. We are sailing on her in February. I can understand your frustration. They obviously think you are doing a great job or they wouldn’t keep you there.

The 8.5-metre (28 ft) tall statue of Gregory of Nin by Ivan Meštrović in Split is a busy tourist site in the town, which the toe of the statue shows. Rubbing the statue's toe is said to bring good luck. The toe has been worn smooth and shiny as a result.
The statue was erected in September 1929 in the Peristyle of Diocletian's Palace and can be seen in postcards of the pre-World War II period. In 1941, the statue was moved outside the city by Italian occupying forces. In 1954, it was re-erected in a different location, to the north of the Palace and Old Town of Split, just outside the Golden Gate, where it currently sits. A major restoration of the monument took place between 2013 and 2015.

Were you in Mykonos the week of 6/4? We were there on the Odyssey. It was a very windy day! Tendering did not look fun. We went to Delos & took the little Sea Bus over to where the Odyssey was and that was enough. Glad you got to meet up with your friends!
