Did that same trip last summer but only to Jacksonville but I would recommend doing it again had a blast also at 9:54 that’s an FRA private car and a dash 8 that’s hella rare
You didn’t mention that your sleeper car ticket included access to Amtrak’s Metropolitan Lounge at Penn Station. It’s a really modern and inviting space. If you travel in a sleeper (or Acela First Class) in the future, be sure to check it out. I know you’ll be more than pleased.
If you're in any sleeper--Roomette, Bedroom, etc.--then yes, meals are included, but bring cash to tip. There's usually also water and coffee in your sleeper car. If you were in coach, you would only have access to the Cafe Car, which is serviceable, but not something you'd want to be subsisting on, so smart move to get a Roomette. I would suggest taking supper late, after Washington if you can, and then going straight to bed afterwards. Atlanta is scheduled for an 8:43 AM arrival, so if you want an un-panicked breakfast, you'll need to be on deck early.

Apparently you traveled several months ago while the Silver Star and the Silver Meteor were combined into a single train, which would have had 4 or 5 sleepers, and up to 13 cars total (not 9 & 17). It looked like you were in the 3rd sleeper from the diner, number 9112. The Meteor has now resumed as a separate train carrying 3 sleepers, while the Star now has just 2. BTW, the diners do actually have full kitchens (or galleys), but Amtrak has been serving the precooked "Flex" meals to cut costs and staffing. They have promised to return full-service "Traditional" dining, with onboard chefs, to the Silver Star & Meteor sometime this year.
@@eyesforadventures the amtrak platforms run beneath Moynihan train hall and the old penn station. it looks like you got on from the penn station side. just google moynihan hall
The train to Florida is a nice relaxing way to get there. However as noted due to freight train traffic often operates late. This train is more useful if you are visiting the Orlando area. If you are on time you arrive mid day so the ride is a quick overnight run from the northeast to Florida. Years ago they also were a little faster to Miami because they operated a separate section to Tampa so you did not ride into and out of Tampa on your way to Miami. I am glad you enjoyed the ride but it will be even better when they return full dinning car service to the Florida trains.
To be honest, the roomette is too small for one person if you’re a large person. Correction…only one complementary alcoholic drink per trip. After that one you pay for it. Also the station in Miami closes around 6:30pm or close to it, an it’s in the worst part of town, passengers are dumped out onto the street to wait for Uber..Lyft, and the transit bus that makes an occasional loop around the entrance. I know this must have made you somewhat nervous. Otherwise the Silver Star And Silver Meteor trains are great ways to get to Miami.
Luckily we didn't have any problems at the station in Miami! It was actually still pretty busy at 9:30pm, the information desk was still open, and lots of people waiting inside. But we agree, Amtrak is a great way to get to Miami! 😊
The State of Florida built a new station at the airport, but Amtrak never moved in because they weren't happy with the state's lease demands, as well as some logistical issues. Last year Amtrak sent a car full of their executives to inspect the station, and they have now confirmed that they have reopened negotiations on the lease. If they do move in, there will be a direct connection to Tri-Rail, the Miami Metro, and buses; also the airport's rental car center will be right next door, connected by an indoor walkway.
Why every video of amtrak, i see people on the expensive class, last time i check , from PA to miami it wast like over $1000 dollars, i want to see videos were real people can affort being seated, its like showing only first class on planes, only 10% of travelers go first class.
As we travelled for 30+ hours it was important to us to have a bed, provided meals, and some privacy. I am sure there are videos on UA-cam about traveling in Coach Class. The prices also always depend on your date of travel, I have seen prices as low as 500$ for a Roomette from New York to Miami, so keep researching 😊
Interesting ❤

Great video this is the best train ever!
Thank you!
nice video !! Look forward to more !
Thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed it! 😊
If Amtrak were able to average 110mph, that would be a 12-hour trip. With a high-speed train like in Japan, the time would be around 7 hours.

We will definitely check it out next time, thanks for the advice! 😊
The Metropolitan Lounge is on the mezzanine level of Moynihan Train Hall. They didn't see it because they didn't make it that far.
Wow! So cool
Taking the silver meteor in Oct. to Florida looking forward to my journey booked a roomette!
Nice video!
Thank you!! 😊
Very good commentary!
Thank you so much!

Glad you liked it! Thank you for the feedback! 😊
Thank you for your share you video 👍
I like it a lot
Great video 😃
Nice!
What a shock, a Amtrak train, to or from Miami, was late!-That’s been the case since Amtrak started running trains to Florida.
Wow cool and not to many stops, I will b traveling in a roomette from NY to ATL, thanks for the info, oh is the food included or you pay?
Glad you found this helpful! 😊 As you travel in a roomette the food is included. Enjoy your trip!

Thanks for sharing! I would like to do this as a round trip from Washington, D.C. to Miami, Fl. and back. I need to research.
You're very welcome 😊 That's definitely possible! Amtrak offers rides to Miami every day, check out Amtrak's website for more information!
I’m pretty sure you showed the old pen station sections the train hall is way nicer

that wasnt moynihan train hall, that was the ugly old penn station. moynihan is on 8th avenue
All Amtrak trains leave from Moynihan train hall, here's Amtrak's website where you can read more 😊

I found it - the Roomette - to be comfortable. It was *CHILL* - which really helped a lot.
4 hours late? According to Amtrak that's on time. If you are riding Amtrak south of DC being on time is a luxury not a right
They do have a lot of delays unfortunately.. but at least they offer snacks and drinks.
