you dont get novice categories in powerlifting but the joy of the sport is your only lifting against yourself. you will have your own personal best that your trying to be beat and if your doing that your winning regardless of were you place. everyone will be happy to help you and explain whats going on. my advice would be for your opening lift pick a weight that can roll out of bed and hit for 3. lifting to commands is odd and as long as the weight is really light you will get a feel for it and be able to got heavy on the next attempts.

I can’t decide whether to give powerlifting a go ! I’m not sure my lifts are good enough or if there are lower level novice categories for comps ?
