I'm gonna miss this guy. I'm sure Kiki will be great but this guy was a key member that helped keep the band alive and bring them back into their prime again in the last few years. He contributed so many cool soundscapes and effects added to their songs that add so much atmosphere during live shows that really added to the thrill of them.
I’ll always prefer the original lineup but this dude really held the band together for the last 18 years. I think it’s great that he is still on board even with James being back in. The current lineup is amazing.
for those of us studying this rig thinking we have what it takes to land this gig in 2024 that instantly realized what a hole this is to fill. Man, what a setup. Jeff is clearly a true pro
Mark Lugg That’s true. And I know she’s got major issues and it’s probably her fault but I really feel that she was the musical soul of the band besides Billy and he doesn’t want to admit it. I saw an interview where he was explaining how he chose songs and the direction of them musically, especially the ones that were gonna be on Melancholy and she basically sent the Pumpkins in a direction that obviously can’t be reproduced as well anymore
This group was my favorite band when I was in Highschool in the 90s. It is still my favorite band - even with the drama between members, etc. This is all about the music. Great stuff. Seeing this interview is just so super awesome.
@@BrendanThompson Exactly. Before becoming a 'pumpkin', he used to play in a shoegazing band called The Lassie Foundation. They were pretty good. He should definitely check them out.

@@kidamnesiac6823 And that proves how little you know about music, because sound is totally subjective, there is no such thing as "good" or "better". Most top level guitarists have had the time to dial in their own perfect sound, and guess what? they are all different. There is no "better".
That thing of saying this person who looks vaguely like that other one is whatever whatever is Super tired. Let it go. Plus know one knows who Mr yap is
I've got the cheapest model in the Revstar line and I love it. I prefer it over my dad's american strat and tele even. They're fantastic guitars for the money.
I would just get lost in all of that gear. It's impressive, don't get me wrong. I think it's just too complicated for me. It's crazy how far the pumpkins have come with all of this stuff. Wasn't all that early stuff mainly JCM800s and Big Muffs?
as time goes one, they experimented with stuff, and now theyre essentially touring their hits from those eras. They need all of this stuff to properly emulate all the seperate SP eras.
the first album is a JCM800 with KT88 tubes cranked to hell and back, boosted and EQ’d with an A/DA MP1 Preamp. Siamese Dream is the same JCM800, set to clean, with an Op Amp Big Muff set to destroy. Both albums have an insane amount of layering (at least 6 rhythm tracks per guitar, so 12 total, and then more for colouration), but that’s the core sound.
Very under rated, at least was......................The kind of real guitarist that gets noticed without the business end of it, but with his playing. I would like to hear him in.... A perfect Circle........Lol, for real !
It's funny to see people who have all this rack equipment and all these settings and then you have people like Tom Morello who've used the same 1 amp, 2 guitars, and 5 pedals his whole career
whatever gets you to where you need to be. Corgan’s dead set on the Pumpkins having a lot of versatility, and along with that you’d need a lot of tones. If the Pumpkins stuck to sounding like Gish/Siamese Dream all the time, all you’d need is a big muff, some modulation and a delay (for rhythm and clean stuff, solos are a different story).
I wish I could agree with the idea that having 1,000 different sounds is a positive thing. To me it only seems to get in the way of songwriting. If your purpose is to make the guitar sound like the wind howling on a distant planet in space then I guess this is your thing. But if your purpose is to write songs all of this extra sound is just a distraction.
infant annihilator I think he could do most if not all of what he’s doing there on the kemper, he Could even profile all his cool little preamp modules and leave those at home. To be fair he has a simple setup really. Not a ton of stuff going on.
You're really stretching for that point man, reaaaaaaallly taking it out of context. If he's playing those songs, and he's in smashing pumpkins, and if the tone is in the ballpark of their old stuff, then regardless of era or who's playing, it is still by all intents and purposes "the sound of SP"
Dude brings the Pumpkins to another level. Billy scored when he found Jeff.

I was really surprised and impressed by his playing. The guy is a beast!
I think this is the most i seen this guy talk

Jeff offered a ton of insight into his rig. It's a bit too complicated for me to understand, but he really does have a lot going on!
Cavenue same here. Its just me and my trusted orange distortion
Always nice to see a rig rundown with a guitarist who knows his stuff very well indeed. This was a good one!

Love that Revstar
Jeff absolutely killed it live when I saw the them in August. This a great interview too. Nice to know he’s a Helix user like me.
That high gain mode sounds absolutely sick. Fantastic tone.
feels like listening to a very tired andrew huang
Wtf your so right lol
3:25 he goes shreddy mode!!! Jeff Shredder rips
Jeff is underrated
Watched Jeff Shredder play for the Violet Burning, all the way back to the early 90s in clubs. Amazing musician
I don't care what anybody says this guy is a pumpkin
Agreed. Let's face it - band members change. No sense in getting upset about it or not "accepting" the new guy.

Man, you have *the best* guitar sounds I’ve ever heard! 😮
I did think of taking notes, but then I saw your rig and realised that would be pointless 😃
