I was visiting a cousin's house and noticed his water dispenser was not working, he had given up on it and was just looking to replace his refrigerator which was otherwise just fine. Ordered the parts, popped them in and he is now a happy camper. Thank you so much for the video, it was short and to the point, just what was needed.
You're welcome!
Matt, I cant thank you enough for this video. You saved me at least $200 on a service call. Went and bought the part at sears for $70 and followed your video exactly. Only took about 15 minutes to do it. When it worked, I swear it felt like I fixed a rocket ship that was able to take off just before a giant meteor hit it! A bit much, yes, but thanks again.
OK just so everyone knows, I’m the idiot that usually has to go back-and-forth to Home Depot three times to do one repair job. I was very anxious about screwing this thing up, but following this video, and using the quick connectors, the actual swapping out literally took less than three minutes. No leaks everything looks good. Thank you so much.
Glad your repair went smoothly for you!
Adding in the explanation of how to attach the hoses was crucial - and explaining the two sizes of hoses and electrical connections was a major time saver!
The guy knows how to explain things. I'm running at normal speed for once. Excellent job.
THANK YOU so much! I had this very same system and replacement part, but couldn't figure it out. You got me over the hump.
Happy wife, happy life.
Glad we were able to assist you. If we can help you in the future please let us know!
Ok, I could have bought this cheaper elsewhere, but I gotta tell you, your videos are the best, and they're free. So, I spent the extra $30 to buy it from you guys. This is not the first time your videos have made the difference, thanks.
This was a great video! Sure instilled some confidence in a job that I probably wouldn't have attempted without watching it. Although I had looked at the my inlet valve I was struggling with the fact that I had screw on connectors and the part showed push on so I was afraid to order it in case it didn't work. The video gave me the confidence to go ahead. Thank you for clearing this up. I struggled with separating the inlet supply line from the inlet valve so instead of trying to pry it I drilled it out with 1/4" drill bit. Worked perfect! Thanks again.
Great video! It answered all of my questions regarding the different water line connections and how the new part is mounted vs. the new part. Professionally done, easy to understand and view. Made it a very easy replacement!!
Solid guidance here helped me with the transition from old style connections to the newer, and only available, for new water valve on my 30 year old die hard Kenmore Elite. Note that you MUST test for leakage as it's hard to tell whether or not you pushed the tubing in hard enough to make a tight seal. I had to mess with it to eliminate seepage 100%. In plumbing, anything less than 100% leak free is failure.
Thank you! I didn't find this vid before I called an incompetent repairman, but I was able to fix what he did once you explained about the compression fittings. I knew the hoses were in the wrong place but I just couldn't figure out how to get the hoses out of the fittings. Thanks again. I'll come back here first next time I need to fix an appliance.
Thanks for the video. It was a big help. I'm glad I watched before starting. Initially I thought those caps on the connection were just plugs to keep the water inlets clean and I almost pulled them off. The instruction about pulling the 2 pieces apart cleared up that confusion too. Nice going
Just swapped my water inlet valve out. Took 10 minutes and an hour later, I have ice. Great video. Thank you.
Glad the video helped you get the valve changed!
Thank you for this tutorial! I just changed one this morning. I thought I had the wrong piece! I wasn’t aware of the need to pull them two apart.
Great video! It was so confusing when I purchased the new water inlet valve. It wasn't until you mentioned that the tubing and terminals are different that it made it less confusing. In addition, prying apart the water inlet source from the water inlet valve being tricky wasn't initially obvious from the part instructions. Thanks again!
Glad the video helped you get the water valve changed!
You video was amazingly helpful!!! One of the easiest (and fastest) fix it projects I’ve done in ages!!!
Excellent video! Changed mine step by step and it worked just fine. No leaks.
Thank you so much for this video. I especially like the common sense discription like squaring off after cutting and that the parts look different but function the same. Addressing this makes a person who isn't an expert but a DIUA-camr feel a lot more confident in her repair. And I installed this about 4 months ago by piecing together from other videos and service manuals. If I had watched yours right after I got my part it would have saved me a lot of time and a headache!
We're glad that you found our video helpful! Click subscribe to stay up to date as we add new ones weekly. :)
Great. Everything fit and aligned with the video BUT still no water? Any idea what else it could be?
Lifesaver! Thanks for sharing this little jewel.
Thanks for this video. The 90 degree cut explanation saved it for me. Otherwise i wouldve thought the part was faulty
Great video, quick and easy. I would have struggled at the push disconnect if I didn't watch this video prior to the replacement. Thank you.
Thank you. It was the tube connection I needed to understand. You even explain removal of the slip-on connection.
Excellent video! Followed exactly as shown and worked like a charm. Thanks for posting this!
I almost returned my part as it differed from the original. Thanks so much for the excellent video!
Glad we could help! Manufacturers do change the design of parts frequently in an attempt to make parts compatible with as many of their appliances as possible. We only carry original manufacturer parts, as long as you research the part by model number, you can be assured the part is correct for your unit per the manufacturer.
Watched video multiple times, ordered part and changed out part as per video. Fantastic. Will watch other DIY videos!!
T Singh Great, glad the video helped you get the refrigerator fixed!
Thank you for the straight forward instructions. I have a Kenmore refrigerator, model number 51274200 very similar to the one in the video. The water does not come out from the dispenser, I replaced the water inlet valve which was made by Robert Shaw and now the dispenser works and the ice maker works.
Glad we could help!
Thought I had purchased the wrong valve until I watched your video, did not realize the inlet water valve would come apart from the rest of the valve. Thanks for saving me a phone call and my weekend.
Awesome, glad the video helped you get the fridge fixed!
Very good video for a DIYer. I really liked how they covered how to release the water lines
The BEST video on this subject that's out there. And I've watched all 7,000 of them.
Glad we were able to help you out. If there is anything we can help you with in the future please let us know.
Fantastic! My 8 year old replaced the part with your guidance. One thought: our fridge had two different sized hoses so just figure out which one goes where. Thank you for helping us.
Nice job, glad you guys got it installed. The 1/4" line is for the ice maker and the 5/16" line is for the dispenser.
Great instructions thank you. I got my part and put it in right the first time. Leaking water dispenser is fixed now!
+Tim Crawford Awesome glad the video helped you get the valve changed!
I gotta say this video and these guys are spot on.... Very helpful. Subscriber and customer now,,, thanks for taking the time for putting together a quality video series.
You are welcome! Glad the videos helped you out.
Great video. Thank you. This saved me. I had no idea how to deal with those new pushin type connectors until I watched your video.
Michael Taylor Glad the video helped you get the water valve changed!
Great job with the instructions!! Had it done in about 15 minutes!!!
Glad the video helped you get the valve changed!
Wish this video had been around when I replaced ours , great video helper !
Glad the video helped you out!
Your video shows exactly the same frig and water pump. Grt video! I'm going to order this part from you website. My problem was a slow drip at the water filtered dispenser in front of the frig. On another video I saw I had to replace the water valve, so that's what I'm doing. Thanks!
+Luciano Aldana Glad the video helped you get the water valve changed!
Thanks again, Matt!
Worked great ... certainly appreciate your video.
Lou Janik You are welcome, glad the video helped you out!
Thank you, ApplianceParts Pros... this was just the video I needed. I just successfully replaced the water pump on our Kenmore refrigerator (circa 2000), thanks to you and the complete, concise training/education in this video! Michael
Glad the video helped you get the refrigerator fixed!
Thanks. We live in a rural area. Scheduling a repair crew & parts would have takEn forever & cost 3-4 times the part price. Took me longer working in a cramped area @ 77y/o, but the water & ice dispenser is working perfectly now.
Thanks, Matt. Excellent video. Sad for me, it didn't fix my problem of minimal flow at ice maker/water dispenser. Other ideas welcome.
First check for any ice build up in the tube that goes through the back wall. The water valve could be clogged or not working properly. You can test the solenoid that opens the water valve, it should read between 300-500 ohms. Make sure you unplug the refrigerator first. If the solenoid check out then it could be an issue with the ice maker. If you have any questions please feel free to post on our repair forum.
I get 408 ohms on two of the coils but only 237 ohms on the ice maker coil (green). Is that OK? Frigidaire FFSS2614QS6A
Thanks for the clear photography. It make reassembly easy.
Bob Johnson Glad the video helped you get the water valve changed!
What’s the part number for the portion that the water line hooks up too? I need to replace that portion on my refrigerator.
Hi what is the name of the part that you connect the brass water line(outside water line) to before the inlet valve
This company is the BOMB!!!
I watched the video on Monday, clicked on the link ordered the part Monday afternoon received email saying it had been shipped!😳. Part was here and, thanks to the video, I installed it wed! Fucking impressive! I'm ordering all my parts from you all from now on!
Good job, glad you got the valve installed!
Great video! Answered all my questions!!
thank you! great explanation of the push style connector
Throughly explained! Thanks!
JoJo You made my day alot easier, thanks.
joe jackson Glad the video helped you get the valve changed!
Do you guys sell the first inlet portion that gets removed from the old inlet valve and was not replaced in this video?
thanks much for your time and straight forward tutorial
We are in the process of finding our fridges owners manual. On its handle it say Kenmore 24... Any suggestions as to the model number or value part to buy?
Thanks, I just put in an order. I will finally be able to push the fridge back up against the wall!!
Thanks, I will keep your site in mind.
you've made it look so easy I must try it. here's hoping it works
Hope you get the valve swapped out!
Great video ! Thanks !
That really really helped me. Thank you very much!
You're welcome! Glad we could help.
You guys are awesome!!!
What is the part number for the inlet valve connecting to the water line
Matt, I have a Kenmore 1069532580 fridge. I need the prefilter connector (the part you didn’t change out on your video). I chatted with a tech support on your webpage and she said she didn’t show one for my unit. Where do I go from here? Can I bypass the prefilter, since I’m on well water and don’t necessarily need a prefilter? Appreciate your help! Very helpful video BTW.
Video well done. Thank you, sir.
Watched this -seems very helpful. Which solenoid on the new part is the icemaker, red or green? Which one on the old part, purple or green?
Great video and well done! Thanks!
Glad the video helped you get the refrigerator fixed!
Your video helped me save a ton of money by simply re-cutting and re-fitting a water line. Sorry! Thanks, though!
Thanks for an infromative video. I have a similar looking black Kenmore refrigerator and the back area looks exactly the same, including the valve. Can you provide the part number of the valve and where I can locate the model number of the refrigerator. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Matt! You’re awesome!!
Excellent video. Thx
What is the part number for the blue adapter for incoming water to the filter?
Might replacing this valve fix water leaking from water dispenser? Thanks!
at 3:29 the repairman is prying apart the initial piece where the water enters BEFORE it gets to the valve. That is the piece that needs to be replaced. Both nut and male portion on this initial part are stripped and wont allow compression nut and nut to seal water tightly. NO one provides this part number and it appears it doesnot come with new replacement. I have a 2006 Whirlpool and neither ApplianceParts Pros or videos address how to replace this part!
i have the a whirlpool fridge that the water is dripping from the ice maker and also freezing at the end of the tube that puts water into the ice maker to make ice. i was told sounds like the valve. wanted to ask before i order it from you and it be the wrong part. when i looked up my fridge sears said this was the part number, replacement for the original part
Thanks for sharing. Where’s the water filter located?
Great video. I went to change out my valve and found the part that he has to pry off that connects the copper pipe needs to be replaced. It’s so bunked up I’m surprised I have any ice cubes. Does anyone know what that piece is called? I can’t seem to find it in my searches. Thanks!
Thank you for the how to!!
You are welcome!
ok so do you have a part that will stop the water from dripping? it appears to be not shutting off when it should so we get water dripping through the door water dispenser and water drips through the tube that lets water into the icemaker. it does not over fill the icemaker tray. it drips so slow that it is freezing in the water line at the end. we take pliers and break out the piece of ice that forms or sometimes it shoots the piece out when it goes to fill up the tray. thank you :)
I've replaced the water valve but when I turn the water back on there is water shooting out of the connector from the water source (wall) and the water value. I've checked that the connection is tight and not cross-threaded, what else should I check?
Thanks again for this great video.
If its leaking from both it could be a few things. Such as the valve is bad or clogged and its letting water through. The refrigerator needs 30-120 lbs of water pressure to work, if its low they could slowly leak. Many people have a problem if they install a R/O system, as it drops the pressure to the refrigerator. Make sure the water supply valve is all the way open. A dirty, clogged water filter can also cause pressure problems, make sure if you have one it is new and changed regularly.
I have a Whirlpool ED5RHEXNL00 side by side with water dispenser on the door. The water dispenser has a very very slow leak from the tube. Is the inlet valve the most likely repair?
Awesome you guys are really pros. Simply explained and down to the point. Great video!
Tomz Rain Glad the video helped you get the refrigerator working!
My ice maker isn't working. Can it be that the line is frozen solid?
Tomz Rain You can check the fill tube that comes through the back wall. If its frozen up you will not get water for the ice.
It was frozen through and I got it fixed but still no water coming through. I guess my sensor chips are fried.
THANKS A LOT YOU REALLY HELPED ME 100%
Glad you got the refrigerator working!
AppliancePartsPros
Great video and followed the instruction well and installed the new part. What do you do if the water starts coming out of one of the bigger diameter tube es which are side by side. When I pushed the tube in it give me a snug fitting. Do not not how to resolve the problem ?
Hi, I have a Maytag GS2728EEDB side by side fridge freezer. I changed both solenoid valves as water was coming from the water dispenser and would not stop, the water stops coming from the water dispenser when I open the fridge door but will still keep coming out when the door is shut. I have changed both solenoid valves now and I am still facing the same problem. Please advise what the problem could be. Thanks
I have a whirlpool model ED5SHAXMB10 refrigerator. Recently the ice maker water dispenser (which fills up the ice tray) started filling up the cup that the water drops into and freezing. It also appears to freeze in the tube itself causing it to swell up. Any idea the cause and repair? Thanks
I have to replace a newer inlet valve. How do I separate the water tubing from the push-to-lock valves? Do I need to cut it?
This was a great help!
hooger158 Glad the video helped you get the valve changed out!
I have a side by side whirlpool fridge and don't get water in the water dispenser, but it does make ice. What could be not working here? Thanks. Love your videos.
I was nervous as your video was more detailed than the one from the part manufacturer. Without your addition of cutting off the old compression fittings, I would have been lost. Just have to wait for my Whirlpool ice machine to suck the air out of the ice line. Wish there was a was to manually cycle. Thank you so much.
Awesome, glad the video helped you out!
The inlet valve a common problem. Also check for water pressure issues, clogged line, old filter, air in lines etc. According to the model number you supplied, this is the valve used: AP5263471.
Question: From the inlet valve, my icemaker line runs up the back to the icemaker, but the line that should go to do the door, does not. It's going to the left and up into a big tube. It's not connected to anything there and it's leaking. Should that line run directly to the door?
If you go to our site and click on the top where it says repair forum you can search for "ice maker not working" and get some info. Or you can ask your own question. There is a few thing to check and it is more than I can put in here. I would start with checking the fill tube where it goes through the back wall to be sure its not frozen up.
Ronald Wilhelm, I cannot respond as you have the reply feature off. Once you turn the water on it may take a little while for the ice maker to go through a cycle and call for water. If your valve was leaking water up to the ice maker make sure the fill tube going through the back wall is not iced up. If it still does not make ice you will have to look deeper and see it there is another problem such as the ice maker itself or maybe the infrared sensor, if you have that. You can also post the problem along with the appliance model number on our repair forum and the techs can help you troubleshoot the problem.
Did you make sure you turned the water supply on, all the way? How long has it been since the filter has been changed? Check the water tank in the fridge to see if its frozen. You need to check out everything that might cause a clog or loss of pressure.
Thanks for that video 💪🏻🙏🏻
You are welcome. If there is anything else we can help you in the future please let us know.
This is probably what is wrong with mine as we are getting water through the dispenser but not the ice maker. However it would be nice to know what steps to take PRIOR to this to trouble shoot the problem. For example I see air in the water line going up the back on the outside of the refrigerator, it is one of the lines that goes to the inlet valve.
nice sir thanks for the idea
your video is great. should i order a new valve with tubing & connector or just the valve? went online to order, lot of choices, not sure what to buy. any help would be appreciated.

The hose that provides water to the valve on the refrigerator broke and started to spray water through a small crack in the hose. Could the hose have broken due to an issues with the valve? Its strange that it broke now as I was recently having an issue with frost in the freezer and lower temperature in the fridge. I defrosted the freezer/fridge for a day and plugged it back which seemed to have fixed what I though was a ventialtion problem. Now, a few days later, the hose breaks...
I know the electrical terminals are different sizes so you cant interchange them, but would it matter if I twisted one and turned it upside down? Is there a top and bottom when plugging them in?
I have a 5 year old side by side kenmore. I dont have those valves down there? I get water from the front of the fridge no probleme, but when I click the ice make button it makes the mechanical noise like its doing the ice release like normal but no ice is dispensed no ice the ice bin looks dry? Is there another place where the solinode would be?
If not any suggestions, Thank You.
we completed this repair - thanks for such clear instructions. When we turned the water on, the water dispenser in front started pouring water. I have seen some repair blogs that talk about water pressure and resetting the valve so that the dispenser will shut off again. Can you tell me more about this process?
Kenmore Elite Model 50792000
Easy money! Thanks
my kitchenAid side by side will not make ice. Water doesn't fill the ice maker. The red light in the freeze section blinks red and I have water to the chilled water dispenser. If I replace the valve will it fix the issue?
