this WAS the album of the moment - the CD of all CDs to test you high end hifi kit out on - and turned up to 11 on the M25 at 100mph in an Xr3i listening to ROCKET 24 years ago - remember it well and still sends shivers down my spine :)
This was one of the most interesting and wonderful series ever. Too bad they do not make it anymore, since there are zillions of good old albums which deserved this analytical treatment.
If anyone has any doubts about how great Def Leppard is, or how amazing an album Hysteria is, just watch this episode of Classic Albums. Hysteria was an incredible record. The kind today's "artists" don't even know how to make anymore. I feel sorry for the teenagers of today. Having to listen to crap like the Black Eyed Peas! Luckily, many kids today are too smart to accept the junk that the record companies are peddling. That's why many teens prefer the 1990's, 80's & 70's ROCK. It's REAL!
3 of the 5 live in the states. Phil lives in Malibu...Rick Allen lives in the LA suburbs and Vivian lives in the Malibu. Joe lives in Dublin, Ireland and Sav lives back in Sheffield, England although both do have houses in the states where they'll stay prior to a US tour.
Agree 100%, I would even say HnD put them on the radar for many, but check out OTTN. It's really good for rookie teenagers and definitely a raw style with interesting songs.
Best pop metal album by far. Bon Jovi's Slippery When Wet isn't even anywhere close. Put on the disc and just push play, let it run and don't touch anything. That's my advice for listening to 'Hysteria'
8 words: OH...MY...GOD! I LOVE THEM TO DEATH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You guys have no f*cking idea how much I absolutely adore them and walk the ground they walked on! :) They are THAT f*ckin' awesome!!!! :) :)
I have a question about the guitarist Phil Collen: why did he not use a stage name during all his time with DL, so as not to be confounded with Phil Collins (Genesis drummer/singer)?
i am a black dude and hysteria was the shit.7 no.1 singles on one album!!!nuff said. let's see, foolin',photograph, pour some sugar on me,love bites, etc. was the shit!!!!
Weird, I stand corrected Simon, you're right !? I had heard the terms glam rock and hair metal but not pop metal....it's still a hideous term though...
Even though I DO enjoy listening to Animal, the title track, and...can BARELY get through Armageddon It, these songs, at the SAME TIME, I feel, UNFORTUNATELY, "aren't enough" to persuade me to (go out and) buy Hysteria. On another or similar note, throughout January 2013, I've listened to or "bombarded" myself with High N' Dry, SO MUCH, that I'm PRETTY MUCH provoked to buy Pyromania!
Yeah, I've never heard of "pop" metal - I think that's impossible.... nor would I say DL is even hard rock anymore, how about pop rock? DL was British metal to hard rock in the first three albums though.
This came out in '87 if I remember right, so I was 17 and....meh, it just didn't work for me. I love "High N Dry" and "Pyromania," but this stuff just lacked balls IMO. I hate "Pour Some Sugar." I didn't like it then, and I don't like it now. I won't say it's a terrible record, it's just not to my taste.
a great record ruined by terrible production. akin to spraying the Mona Lisa with neon orange spray paint. it's mindblowing that the guy who produced Back in Black (one of the greatest sounding records of all time) turned out this shiny plastic dog turd
hysteria is one of the best rock albums ever, and its my favorite album of all time to this day
Me. To.
long live the 80s def lep forever
my ALL time fav album right here !
Favourite album of all time. Def Leppard not been the same since Steve passed away

This and Kick by INXS that same year: fan of both!

Great Album 🥰
Im sorry but I dig this chillwave demo version of Animal :D
Thank you Rene, you are making plenty of people happy, not having to scour the net for this. :)

Definitely!
If u try to google that term, there is. It is sometimes referred to as glam metal or hair metal, a sub-genre of heavy metal as well.
I just got this album in vinyl and i noticed that some songs are way different then the video versions ( rocket etc)
That's not awful gents , it's so melodic 🤘😎

1:17 Say no more! .-) "Mutt Lange" did it again with "Bryan Adams" (1991) "Def Leppard" light so to speak .-)
I laughed my ass off at what Joe Elliot said at the end!

@vonkiser Yeah they also cut a lot from too late for love
Def Leppard keeps talking about 1984 I was 2 years old in 1984. The year of Van Halen-Jump
On this album, it's mostly pop metal with just a tinge of hard rock
Fostex X-15. I still have mine!
Jim Steinman was like the villain trying to destroy the whole thing.
i know!
Hysteria was a good album, but Pyromania put Def Leppard on the map and its a shame Pyromania was but a footnote in the program.
‘The most expensive record made in the UK’
He means PAID FOR, it was created in The Netherlands. ;)
Recordin' wih' Mawt.
Rick has obviously been living in LA - hardly any accent anymore.
I think this was Def Leppard last good album. After Steve Clarks death ,I don't think they were the same after that.
adrenalize?
@cliffthelightning a lot of times they cut parts out for radio/video airplay. Its a shame and pisses me off too but it happens a LOT.
Weird, I stand corrected Simon, you're right !? I had heard the terms glam rock and hair metal but not pop metal....it's still a hideous term though...
Man I got laid a LOT to this album in high school.
They had to be the biggest band in the until 1990 if not the biggest a close 2nd to gnr
Simon, I've never heard of this hideous beast called "pop" metal ... =D

I didn't know Ozzy Osbourne sang in Def Leppard.
Because Def Leppard were bigger than Phil Collins. :)
Steve died and the next albums went with him.
Go on Phil, "We'd taken a quantum leap from the Pyromania stuff ! "😂 Pyromania which you did no writing on, or anything previously. Mutt's puppet.

pop metal i thought dep learped was hard rock not pop metal

Pyromania drops turds on this over produced Shania twain album
