Creating Record Breaking Crucian Fisheries

- The National Crucian Conservation Project (NCCP) have produced a second video aimed at encouraging angling clubs and fishery owners to create crucian friendly waters in order to protect the species and encourage anglers to take up fishing for this delightful species.
I wish more clubs would show such imagination and foresight.
I like the way that, in answering the question about the possibility of a 5lb crucian, the Godalming AC official replied "If they were caught at the 'wrong' time, when they are full of spawn they could". Stillwaters need a close season and most of them are getting one this year (due to the Corona virus) for the first time since the mid-1990s.
I also applaud Godalming AC for recognising that there is a need to promote species such as crucians, rudd and tench as worthwhile in their own right, rather than just king carp and F1s. Personally, I do not see the point of F1 hybrids. Less beautiful than true crucians and commons and smaller than king carp.
I wonder if any forward thinking clubs would do the same for the true wild carp? Beauty and history are much more important than sheer size.
Are there any pikes in these record waters? Here in Sweden the crucians only get big if there are pikes in the same water.
