If Jacob was born today we wouldn’t have Israel. He would be told all his life that he is gay or a woman in a man’s body.
I feel sorry for all the pain and trauma Walt experienced, but in that he is hardly alone and in this world we all are broken. But Walt was victimized equally by his father and uncle, and by his own deluded thinking which apparently he could not critically examine yet felt that the conclusions he reached "HAD to be the truth." And that was a fatal flaw in his life journey. Thinking that "the only way I can be loved is to be a girl," was never true but he could not or would not see this. Perhaps because he had too much self identity invested in his own story. That investment took him to seek out for therapy - not an objective therapist would would indeed help Walt explore the questions "what happened to make you feel you are unlovable," but instead he chose a therapist would could only see Walt as someone to validate his own pet theory. Another case of the blind leading the blind. And so Walt who so desperately needed the validation of his own fictional story, found someone who would, and thus Walt became Jean. But this is hardly the story of "transgenderism" or any such belief in a so called "transgender ideology." This is simply one person's tragic attempt to make sense of a tragic world and now Walt is compounding his errors by projecting his own victimization (a continuation of his own abuse) seeing abuse happening to others and that is simply not true. You wanna know about transgender people Dr. Jeff.....than meet with an open mind and open heart with other people who are somewhere along the path of finding themselves and exploring the paths of gender and sexuality. Talk to psychologists and others who do not have a vested interest in "proving their own pet theories," speak to the friends and family and partners of those who identify as transgender. And keep in mind that there are human beings in this world whose bodies, chromosomes, hormones, bodies and minds DO NOT fit the "normative" binary reality that your body fits.
