For everyone saying that's a suspiciously modern looking wheelchair. I took the trouble to look it up. It's a pretty good representation of a wheel chair from around the 1870s. Radial spokes, similar to small wagon wheels, and with a metal ring for the hands to propel it. Big wheels at the front and castor wheel(s) at the back. Whether the character could have bought one out there in the old west is another question, but it's reasonably accurate for period.

Despite it's casting faults, I liked the movie very much. Jeff Bridge's portrayal of Wild Bill is the best ever on film. John Hurt was a great addition as well with his superb acting & narration. It set it apart from all the other westerns of the 1990's.
Lets be honest here. This was a frontier town. Once Plummer blew out that saloon's window with a shotgun, heedless of who might get hit by the buckshot or flying glass beyond, not even a Marshall would have batted an eyelash at Hicccock blowing his brains out.
Although Bill Hickock carried 2 revolvers he only ever dual wielded them once. He had been knocked down and had about 4-6 guys attacking him. So he pulled both pistols and opened up. Every other time he would only draw 1 pistol and fire than the other if he had to.
@@kyleshiflet9952 sad to think though. Get a break to be in a western with the duke and it kills your career. I loved him as joe dambee in support your local sheriff, also in down periscope .

That actor was one of Geroge Hearst man that had his eye popped out by one of Al Swearegen man. Also wacthing this movie I can't help but think that is is highly possible that Quentin Tarantino was a fan of the movie as well.

Damn, I've watched a lot of movies. This clip is grainy as crap and all the colors muted yet in two seconds, with no dialogue or close up, I still said to myself "That's Bruce Dern!." Under a dusty blanket yet. What a film career.
There is a missing line in the film that they featured in the trailer: Charley Prince (John Hurt): "Wild Bill's accepted your challenge. He's gone to some trouble to make things even."
So it's pretty clear that since the advent of time, people have been blaming others for their own predicaments. 🤣 I might have to watch this movie. I seem to have bypassed it somehow.
I love a good western, and I love the work of Jeff Bridges - but I tried to watch this flick a couple of years ago and slowly lost my will to live. It was kind of put together oddly - poor editing and scripting. Still, I might have to take another shot at it one of these days soon.
I read that the wheelchair is accurate for that time period it does look very out of place in that town with those people. Also realize that during the time of these events they were Doing this in certain parts of the country but in others like NYC for instance they built the Brooklyn Bridge which still stands to this day.
