I love it when they reminisce on the KEXP show when they played the entire first album. It's hard to believe it's nearly 10 years, that performance is absolutely special and I come back to it regularly. So glad to hear the new material and see them still going strong.
Such a shame the guitar is out of tune at the beginning, hence his expression and then retune quickly once the keys kick in at 1:30. absolutely love the new album!
man changed them strings and didnt check the tension and tunning prior to the gig; nothing lost, just another quality of live performance

There is something very nostalgic about this to me. I've put these KEXP Alt-J sets on to jam out to while I clean my home or get through emails for years. I love them! Of course, with it being a few years since the last one, I've completely rinsed the other videos. To see this band blossom and continue thriving, but always returning to KEXP with the same gentleman interviewing them makes my heart so full. I love it!

Jeeze. That performance of Chicago was beautiful. So interesting to hear them do it without the drums. However, I'd love to have seen Thom on here. I understand not having him on some of the smaller radio stations, but for a KEXP set? Come on!

Saw them for the 3rd time in Chicago this year.. I was the one wearing the "Alabama Hat" in the front row. What an Epic show!! this band is revolutionary & only individuals with good taste in music know of them
From start to finish, I loved, loved, loved this...I'm going to add this new to all the previous altj and just endulge. The music puts me in another place everytime. Thank you for your extreme talents and sharing them.

I’m with you but tbh I think his guitar was pretty out of tune in the first track
first production rule: you can't turn bad tracks into good tracks

this is fine, but this arrangement would work better on nearly any of the other tracks from the album. happier when youre gone, get better and Philadelphia wouldve been better showcases but i guess since theyre not singles. also matilda wouldve been a better callback with a deeper cut.

I'd like to make a crypto video set to this song.
To be quite honest… this is just really one of their worst performances of all time. You can clearly see that they keep losing track of the tempo and something just seems off about them. I have a feeling if the drummer would’ve been there to hold up “backbone” for lack of better words, it could’ve been a great performance.
So, what I’m saying basically is that they seem sort of lost because their drummer is missing and they probably didn’t have much time to rehearse.
You hear them asking each other which song to play even. That says it all. This wasn’t planned at all and they were put on the spot.
I could be wrong, but it just sounds like a last minute thing.
Yeah i agree. I saw them live last march and it was great. This performance does not do them justice. 😭
