Thanks for your review Trevor, very helpful to understanding the differences between these three IR Amp/Cabinet.
Personally, even though I love the Vox AC30 sound, listening to your demo I preferred the sounds of the UA Dream instead of the UA Ruby, even if, having a boutique version of the VOX AC30 (with spring reverb!), my Cantini sounds very "creamy" " of your test on UA Ruby.
You are welcome! The AC-30 is a great amp. “Creamy” is a great description for the Cantini tone. 👍 T
Immensely useful video, and super inspiring! Thank you for making this resource!
I now also understand why so many guitarists have an amp collection… I found myself torn among all three 😂 Not a bad one in the bunch-and all of them need tweaking to be “violin-friendly” (in ways that ring true with my experiences with the actual amps… I played a gig last night on a 1966 Deluxe Reverb and had to change my gain staging approach pretty dramatically). My hunch is the effort is worth it.
Looking forward to parts 2 and 3!
Hey Rob, thanks, bro! Means a lot, coming from a great "fellow reviewer & UA-camr"! Yes, lot's of learnings here (more than I even expected!). All three amp pedals are really great. Very hard to choose ... and it IS ALL ABOUT the gain staging, in terms of getting them work right/well for my violins/rig. So many possibilities and tweaking around how it can work for any given player. Video 2 is coming down the pipe very soon, so stay posted 👍.
Great video Trevor, came across your video not a lot of these kind of videos out there for violinist thanks for doing this. I use a realist electro acoustic instrument and I’m actually trying a build my own pedal board right now. I’m really after a warm lush sound and I’m thinking the ruby or dream might be the way to go for me and adding a good reverb and delay pedal. this video was definitely helpful thanks!
Hi Remi, really glad this video was a help! We need more videos like this for the electric string community, don't we?! All the best as you build your own pedalboard. Stay in touch 😊. T
@@TrevorDick will do thanks!
@@remicollins 👍. T
Personally, I use a AC15 and have loved putting my violin through it. It sounds great with my jazzmaster, but I feel like it takes away and shelves that grainy-ness of the piezo out. At this point, I kinda want to see what a treble booster would do with the piezo. For context, I have a BTS bridge on an electric I built about 14 years ago.
I've actually been looking for a amp in a box to lessen the stuff I have to carry around. Realistically, if I got a flight case for my pedals and amp, I may have a different outlook on this haha.
Really appreciate your feedback, Drew. That would be a cool experiment with your AC15 (trying a treble booster), although, may get a bit bright and harsh? The Ruby has a built-int treble booster mod setting. I just released my 2nd video in this series here: ua-cam.com/video/T7bVI00aKm8/v-deo.html This may help with your decision. All the best with your "tone journey"! T
Dream 1. Ruby 2. Uranium 3.
What brought you to this order? Are you a violinist? T
@@TrevorDick l listened to you.
What I heard I put in order of my choice.
I started self taught Cecilio, couple years ago. I bought Gliga violins later.
Am 71 🤑🤑🤑 not enough to build like U, all my life, no guidance younger, brought up with music,, 60's -70's, RUBY extra downloads SUPER, still HEAR SOUNDS in my head like U.......UA-cam flashes subject matter I am interested in.
Because you communicated eloquently the way I could understand I learned a lot.
Thank you, U are very patient & thorough.
💋😘
@@lindaleehulsey3167 thank you! Glad you found my communication clear and helpful. All the very best as you explore the electric violin. ❤T
Hello, Trevor ☺ Thanks for your review!!
I would be grateful for your advice. Now I'm looking for a reverb pedal. I'm thinking about Strymon Bluesky V2, Meris Mercury 7 Reverb Pedal, Universal Audio UAFX Golden Reverberator \ Del-Verb Ambience Compan or Keeley Caverns Delay Reverb V2.... or maybe you can recommend something else 🤔
Thanks again)
All are good! I would just try them and see what works best for you. I use the Eventide Space Reverb. All the best. T
@@TrevorDick it’s not so easy 😿 thanks!)
@@user-ul3dk4gg1z what kind of reverb are you looking for. A simple spring/plate reverb as in vintage amps, or longer hall/ambient reverbs? ... or a large combination of all of the above? This will dictate what you really need. Do you want a "small footprint" - don't want to use up too much space on your pedalboard? What is your budget? Lots of factors to consider ... T
@@TrevorDick i understand what you’re talking about)
i mean that it’s not so easy to try all of them 😢
but i already chose Golden Reverberator ☺️
thanks again
@@user-ul3dk4gg1z awesome. You can't go wrong with UAFX. Are you happy with it? What kind of reverbs does it have? T
