Olive and Mabel - Non-Gardener's World.

- Again I wonder about posting a video where not a huge amount actually happens.
But I suppose that in this noisy world there are worse things than a few minutes of flowers and birdsong in a garden and - above all - a couple of dogs wandering through it.
Yes, I am aware that Monty Don will not feel that his job is in danger.
Any further information on plant and bird identification welcome in the comments... - Домашні улюбленці та дикі тварини
Mabel isn’t bringing you sticks for no reason. She wants a promotion to Branch Manager. 😊
Awesome.
😂
😂😂
😂 love it
Oh God, that’s too funny :-)
Ah yes, of course it's an azalea. 20 years of going to Augusta should have given me that. I was clearly channeling my inner Mabel.
Not to the extent that you're chewing sticks, I hope! 😂
@@kayfj4903not to worry … I’m sure someone will go in after it
Highly toxic to dogs.
Beautiful garden.
Yes, those are highly invasive autumn olive, and grow quite large.
Pink lily of the valley and lilacs blooming their little guts out right now, the yard smells like a perfume factory. Looking forward to the summer perfumes, Summer Sweet and rosa rugosa.
Pls do this in your football commentory style !!!
Your garden is absolutely beautiful. Thank you for letting us visit it! Olive and Mabel are in charge of stick management, which is obviously a great help to you. 😊
Yes, I discovered long ago when I had my own Lab just how important it is to have a stick wrangler on the team. My neighbor in Vermont would see Dodger bringing home a huge stick--a branch, really--and observe, "Looks like it's going to be hard winter."
Among all things in your magnificent garden, all Mable wants is a stick and she was willing to sit for it.
They're competing for the title of Branch Manager...😂
Whose garden were you strolling through? It's a lovely space. Do those dear dogs ever have zoomies there? Looks like they could have a lot of fun racing around the rhododendrons and the pink flowers!😉
🐾♥️
"Oh, to be so pleased with small things"
Which is why being a dog must be awesome.
Is that a Burns quotation?
..@kieranelliott5607............ I've heard A very similar Saying to you.............
........."little things 'Please' little minds but bigger fools look on!"
(I'm not meaning to be rude, honestly but am wondering if it's another version of what you said!)
That's why they like humans..small thing indeed
My blood pressure went down about 20 points while watching this. Thank you Andrew, Mabel and Olive.
Well said, me too! 😊
Me as well.
Same
Yep! 😊
Same
"The Yellow Flowering Idiot". Poor Mabel!
Meanwhile Olive just wanders about, unhurried and unworried.
Trust us, Andrew Cotter, watching Olive and Mabel wandering oblivious through a garden is the best possible thing to watch right now. Thank you for posting your dogs. Lovely garden, BTW.
Lost my chocolate lab last Friday after 14 years it really leaves a big hole in your life. So seeing these guys enjoying themselves is good therapy indeed.
🐾🌈♥️🇦🇺
Sorry to read that. An awful time.
I’m so sorry for your loss. I bet you gave your lab a beautiful life. ❤
Bless you. Enjoy the wonderful memories which you shared. Time spent with our four-legged friends is always so very special.
My heart broke when our 12 year old choc lab passed. Sending you love 💐💐💐
Funny thing to me is that in this day and age, a man can publish videos that have entirely as their content, with no other material or commentary added, of a quick tour of the garden (and a lovely garden it is too) accompanied by his two pet labradors (and lovely labradors they are) while making off-the-cuff comments about it all. And that's it. That's the video which has 6.4K "likes" (and rising). AND I WHOLEHEARTEDLY APPROVE!! Lovely video Mr. Cotter. They don't come often and I love it when they do. You provide a moment's peace and tranquility in an otherwise chaotic world. Thank you. 🙂
Mabel’s devotion to getting her roughage is admirable.
"Not swingers. Thanks for asking".
Hilarious!!! 😆
I had to go back and watch it again for the 'swingers' context, which I had missed on first watch. May even take a 3rd stroll, just for the peaceful moments and gentle commentary.
(I'm obviously one of Life's innocents - dummies? - as I had no clue about a link between Pampas grass & swingers 😳)
A fabulous start to the week with the wonderful Olive and Mabel 🥰
🐶🐕💖💖
I was in a bad mood when I got home, and now I'm not. Thanks to Olive and Mabel😀
And Andrew’
@@susanyoung10 Yes! And Andrew!
Thank you Olive, Mabel & Mr Cotter for the wonderful garden tour! Between the “swingers, yellow idiot, & ice hockey” comments I almost fell off my chair! Hilarious! Love how Olive just lets Mabel be Mabel & does her own mellow thing. Best dog pair on the tube!
❤😂🐶
always appreciate the small things and the joy in a dog's face - and having a moment where "not a huge amount actually happens" is a blissful moment of any day! We LOVE Olive and Mabel🥰
I adore the beautiful older black labs who wear their grey with such style ❤
Olive is a classy girl
Mine just turned 10 and he definitely has the grey.
Thanks for the tour. Very Zen. Always enjoy seeing Olive and Mabel.
...and hearing his voice!!!!! That accent and calm tone!!! Love it!!!❤
Not to worry... I'd watch this over anything else - simple pleasures are more needed than all the other "noise".
I identified two very good and beautiful dogs ❤
You have a beautiful garden.
On behalf of the Hedgehogs 🦔 and other wee beasties, thank you for the wilderness half. 😊
Life is a gift, manifested by flowers, dogs, and even the enjoyment of a stick. We should all be so fortunate.
Indeed, Olive and Mabel are the most beautiful things in the garden, along with your own self. Thank you for this journey through your lovely sanctuary with your adorable dogs.
These few minutes with you, Olive and Mable and your garden have brought a lovely moment of peace, thank you
Please take us through the seasons of your beautiful garden.
So glad to see the girls again..the garden is nice too😅
Ikr.😊
I have never been much of a garden person, but with such lovely gardeners, I seem to have taken an interest 😂
Thank you, Andrew and friends, for bringing us once again so much joy❤❤❤
Never underestimate the importance of hockey stick gathering and daisy pruning.
Gorgeous garden complete with wild patches.
BEAUTIFUL garden and 2 adorable and precious young ladies to help with the tour. THANK YOU 🥰
Such a beautiful garden! I especially enjoyed those two traveling plants named Olive and Mable. Thank you for the quiet tour.
I love the Yellow Flowering idiot!! Thanks for the upload @mrandrewcotter
Any garden is much improved with the addition of a yellow flowering idiot!
and Olive!
Lovely; just lovely! A glimpse of calm in a chaotic world. A gorgeous garden, two wonderful dogs, and AC's usual gently ironic and affectionate commentary. Can't you bottle this stuff?! Thank you, Andrew, Olive and Mabel.
Lovely Garden , lovely dogs…slow and easy in this oh so chaotic world… thank you MR Cotter, Olive and Mabel❤️
“The most beautiful things in the garden” Mabel and Olive ❤
Your garden is stunning The bird songs made my heart happy. Thank you ladies for your companionship 💕. Thank you Andrew. 😊
And just when you need them - they appear. Thank you.
Yes, we all need our regular fix of Olive and Mabel, don't we?
Such a lovely enchanting garden. Nice to see Olive and Mabel 😊
Absolutely an AMAZING GARDEN! Thank you for sharing! The two most BEAUTIFUL flowers though are sweet Olive and Mabel!!! Again, thank you for making my day with this video! ❤
Rhododendron appears in captions as (among other things) “roaded engine” and “rotary engine,” and it makes me happy in a way I can’t explain.
Thank you for sharing your garden and pretty girls with us!
Beautiful trip through the garden! Love the end, ".....and you, Olive!" TWO beautiful dogs ! ❤
As a Brit who has been transplanted into Malaysia for the last God knows when, it is very restful to be taken round a huge, slightly unkempt garden, listening to the birds in the background. May your life, and that of Mabel and Olive, always be so peaceful.
Thank you for the tour of your lovely garden. I also love the two labrador species in your garden. They are of the genus Adorabilis. Until next time, take care.
Andrew, Olive and Mabel, three of the best in the world.
Mabel has the most beautiful smile when she looks at you ❤️
Thanks, Andrew, for this peaceful ramble through your beautiful garden. The birdsong, blooming shrubs, and your sweet girls made my day. How lovely to see Mabel on stick patrol and Olive keeping watch over everyone. Their simple pleasure in each moment is exemplary. And how fitting to end on a shot of Mabel’s magnificent schnoz. Warmest wishes to you all.
What an amazing garden! olive and Mabel have clearly worked hard on it.
❤
Pink azalea. Gorgeous, just like O&M.
What a fabulous garden! I live in the high desert in northern Nevada (US) and I can only dream about such a garden. And watch your video a bajillion times. LOL Love the walking K-9 shrubs. :)
Beautiful garden, gorgeous dogs and the dulcet tones of Mr Cotter. Bliss.❤
I've always enjoyed your lovable dogs, your clever, droll sense of humor, and your very appealing brogue, but who knew what a wonderous garden you had, Andrew. (I've never seen so many rhododendrons before! 😉) But your closing remark about the most beautiful thing(s) in the garden blindsided me in such a deeply touching way. Quite possibly your finest hour.
You have some unusual plants in your beautiful, tranquil garden. No better way to end the video than a close up of lovely Mabel's face. 💖
Beautiful garden! Something I'll never have 😢 Thank you for sharing 💙💙💙 to you, Olive and Mabel... stay well and happy!
Never have? Can one ask why not? A garden can be any size (Mr Cotter's is exceptional!) but we can all aspire to some form of gardening pleasure, surely?
@marciamcgrail5889 definitely aspire... true! I was referring to the immensity and beauty it embodies. Believe it or not, I've been known to "kill" cactus 🤣 My dad had the green thumb 😊 I received a Ponytail Palm a while ago, and miraculously, it still lives! Keeping my fingers crossed that continues... stay well!
Wow, stunning garden and the quality of the tour guides was sublime! Just what we all needed in this crazy world, some beautiful bird song, joyful flowers, Andrew's dulcet tones and the most adorable doggoes on the planet! Thank you....
Thanks for sharing your beautiful garden with us. Love those scrumptious doggies.
Thank you for sharing your beautiful Garden. I love seeing Olive and Mable.
So *this* is what Doggie Heaven looks like. Thank you for sharing. Just beautiful.
Love the reference to ice hockey. Very clever and made me chuckle. ❤️
Oh to have such a great garden with two great dogs. The birdsong was terrific.
A few others I saw while you were giving us this exemplary tour... The first two unidentified pink ones were deciduous azaleas, close in appearance to rhodies. Noticed what might be a very mature pieris japonica alba ( white lily of the valley shrub ) next to the wisteria? And lots of lady fern athyrium in with the forget-me-nots, looks to be cynoglossum variety rather than the shorter fuller myosotis ones? Several Dutch and Siberian iris ( flags? ) Holly ( ilex )... Hedera ( ivy ) over the stumps on the hill... Fun fact: commonly called bluebells can be either scilla varieties or hyacinthoides hispanica and those look Spanish? Oi vey, Scots struggle with the buttercup too, which we hate over here in Canada - very invasive, eh? I am glad to see Olive still climbing the hill in her seniordom. Both your girls and the garden are just lovely - thanks!
You have a very pretty garden, Mr Cotter. And 2 very pretty dogs. 😊
The birdsong was like a soundtrack to your garden wonderland - so serene. Great to see Olive and Mabel!
Your estate is fabulous. The girls look good among the foliage.
Thankyou for sharing your lovely garden with us, what could be better than a few minutes of sunshine, flowers and birdsong? Ah yes: Sunshine, flowers, birdsong, happy dogs and all narrated with a Scottish voice! I love the wild areas, so good for wildlife! I think that pink flowering shrub may be an azalea, which is part of the huge rhododendron family.
Thanks for sharing your beautiful garden. Mable makes me think of all the jokes about blondes that was around when I was younger.
A beautiful natural living garden. My compliments.
And......Spanish Bluebells!
Love your videos & your two very, very good & beautiful doggos ❤️ 🐾🐾🐕🐕
What a stunning garden! Also such beautiful and wonderful dog helpers 💜💜
What a beautiful, beautiful home! I couldn’t even dream of ever having a garden like that, wow 🪴
Smaller fuschia flowers are azaleas. Such a wonderful garden and space to sit
Andrew, your videos are fantastic, Please dont ever stop posting even if you think not alot happens, hearing you and seeing olive and mabel brings so much joy to so many people.
Thank you.
I felt such a sense of peace watching this. Thank you Andrew, Olive and Mabel.
We desperately need you & your gentle voice, your humour, your two sweet labs, in our lives during these surreal days. Thank you. o/
Thank you for sharing Olive and Mabel and putting so much joy in the world. It’s a wonderful pleasure to see you with them.
Wonder not about posting such a video where nothing much happens . It is precisely that which makes this such a joyful experience . A beautiful garden , two beautiful dogs and your commentary and the decision to share with strangers creates such a glorious thing . Thank you and best wishes
Such lovely gardeners 😊❤🐾🐶
Beautiful garden! Mabel is just doing her part to provide mulch. 😊
What a gorgeous garden and with Olive and Mabel, that just makes is perfect. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much! I loved every minute of that, and learned so much. 😂
Especially that it’s good to just sometimes wander through nature and investigate little things, then enjoy them as they are.
What a fabulous day in your garden, Andrew, and when you said “yellow flowering ……idiot” I shouted out with laughter.
You’re very good for my mental health and I appreciate everything you do.
Your garden is lovely. Thank you. ❤❤❤
So happy to see the girls !! 🥰🥰
"Autumn Olive" so, that's a bit of a pest. Andrew, your garden is so gorgeous! Everything I like grows here in your wonderful climate and soil. Your azaleas are much more bold in color than they they grow where I live in North Central Florida. I love your pebble path, too. Your rhododendrons are out of this world! I love an interesting, winding, wild garden with so many different plants, grasses and flowers. Florida, even North Central Florida gets too hot and doesn't have enough continuous rainy seasons to have the variety you do. I am not living in the best place for the sort of gardens I love. Just love seeing Mable's pretty face and Olive's sweet, dogged attention to detail in the garden. You are living in Heaven on Earth, dogs and all. 😊❤
what a lovely wander through your garden - thank you all very much❤
Thank you for the tour great fun hugs to olive and Mabel ❤❤
What an amazing natural and peaceful rambling garden you have Andrew! I've been in love with Olive and Mable since your lockdown vids and Olive is the spit of my lovely girl Flo who went in 2019 so she brings tears to my eyes every time! Your sports commentary has always been brilliant but sharing your life with your girls has got to be the best thing you ever did and absolutely genius!! Keep sharing please!!!
I really enjoyed your verbal descriptions, and my now Retired Guide yellow Lab always thumps his tail with every sighting of Mabel and Olive, hearing the birds surrounding your garden was also nice. Thanks Heaps
Thank You for Sharing. Absolutely Beautiful!
This was so peaceful and calming. Loved it.
I think, but don't quote me, that that pink plant is an azalea. Lovely garden.
Beautiful and you have such great helpers too 🐾🐾
Azalea - The pink flowers
What is the scrub May in the saying "never cast a clout out to May is out"?
That's what I thought. I have several in my garden.
Your instinct was correct…it is an azalea, but all azaleas are rhododendrons…but not all rhododendrons are azaleas.
Oooohh thank you!
Omg what a beautiful garden, I’d pay to walk around it
Thank you for sharing your lovely garden and beautiful dogs. What a peaceful place to wander with the birdsong and wonderful flower scents.
Beautiful Mabel and beautiful Olive 💓💓😍
I envy your beautiful garden and variety of plants and flowers. I do not have a green thumb by any stretch and enjoyed your lesson in flora and the girls.☺️🌷🐾🐾
I was in the middle of grading papers to sneak a peak at UA-cam to see if there was an Olive and Mabel posted (as I have done for the past 4 days since finals) and voilà, there you were!
Thank you for sharing your beautiful garden, your running commentary, the birdsong, but most of all, thank you for letting us get a peek at Olive and Mabel. I love your dogs.
Now back to the grind of papers with a refreshed sense of goodness in the world and the reason why I chose my profession.
I feel the papers marked post-viewing may get better grades...
What a paradise! Thank you for giving us a peek. Most of all, thank you for showing us Olive and Mabel's peaceful ramblings in your garden! 🙏🏼❤️
Just as well that "and you Olive" was added at the end there, they are both gorgeous.
Indeed. Olive means the world to me.
@@mrandrewcotter that absolutely shines through.
How serene and beautiful
Thank you for a break with the beautiful garden and the beautiful dogs and you.
Love hearing the bird and other nature sounds.
"There's the Yellow Flowering Idiot". You're humor sneaks up on me every time . Heaven must be walking through a beautiful garden with a couple of labs.
Thank you so very much for the walk with you and M & O. A beautiful garden with lovely paths and the perfect dogs, the sound of birds, the calm and pleasing sound of your narrative, so many rhododendrons . 😂. The plants are all plants we have here in Connecticut in the US too. it's just the thing this gal who can't go for walks like that, needed today.
Gorgeous garden! Thank you for sharing it, and of course your two excellent assistants. ❤
Oh, my yellow lab used to do that. "What are you gnawing on?" was constantly coming out of my mouth. :). Like a big ol' beaver, he was.
Also, oh indeed she's the most beautiful thing in the garden :)
