The Allmans were one of my favourites. I was fortunate to have seen them many times at the Beacon Theatre in NYC, but it was the recent lineup without Dickey. I saw Dickey play with them once in the 80s when I was in my late 20's. am 65 and was 13 when Duane Allman died. I bought two of their records, Live at the Filmore and Eat a Peach, at first and then most of the rest. Dickey wrote some great tunes beside this one. Blue Sky might be my favourite Betts song. Very sad day. RIP Dickey.
My father has always said, The Allman Brothers were the best band from the States. They created a music many tried to duplicate, and couldn't to the extent that this group of 6 musicians played together so well, and felt where each one was going, it was purely magic.
Musical perfection! Glad you mentioned Berry Oakley. So many people don’t. One of the best bass players ever. I actually attended Berry’s final performance with the ABB at my college on Nov 2, 1972. Nine days later he was killed in the accident.
I'm glad you mentioned bassist Berry Oakley- perhaps the most overlooked rock bassists ever. He was a wizard, and the members of ABB worked perfectly together.
Greatest song ever greatest guitar solos ever from the greatest band ever…. For me…. Duane is the second guitar solo now you know why they call him Skydog
I'm 67, and the first time I saw them live was just after Duane passed. Bassist Berry Oakley was still with them, but was also killed later that year. I turned 15 at 12:00. They put on a show for the ages, as if they had something to prove. Like "We're still here. We ain't going anywhere!"..This here is my favorite track by them..A masterpiece!..Chris, sorry man, but I just fell in love with your wife, because I never knew another woman who really appreciated this piece like she did! Smile getting bigger, as the song went on..She's keeper!..First time sub..Loved the reaction to my all time favorite song.
When I was a mere lad at high school, no one breathed a word about the Allman Brothers and then I heard Jessica. I was intrigued. A few years later a blues cover band had a regular gig at the varsity I attended and played a few AB tracks. I became a fan. This tune was possibly one of those covers. A brilliant band with more than its share of tragedies. Thank you.
Story goes that Betts wrote in the same cemetery where Duane, Barry and Gregg are now buried. He didn't have a title, bur, to his right was a stone ...In Memory of Elizabeth Reed.
Dickey & the late Tom Verlaine are the two guitarists cited by Nels Cline ( Wilco ) as his major influences. Nels is generally regarded as the best contemporary guitar player in the biz these days. Check Impossible Germany especially live for proof.
I’ve heard the name , don’t know any of their music though , as it’s an RIP request I’ll be kind and just say , this ain’t my genre in any way , and leave it at that 🤷♂️ 👍🏴
Duane Allman and Dickey were the best combo lead guitarists ever. Love that band. RIP Dickey.
100% correct!
RIP Dickey, Dwayne, Greg, And Berry. They'll live forever through the amazing music they blessed us with over all these years. love this band so much!
Awesome!!

When I first heard this song in '72 within 10 seconds it became my favorite song. 52 years later it never lost that status.
My go to song, a mixture of rock, blues, jazz & a bit of soul. Not damn thing wrong with it. RIP Dickey, thank you. Jim
I love the reaction of the girl. She got it.

Perfect choice to honor Betts! Keep rocking, guys!
What a great sound these guys had.

And they were all only in their 20's when this was recorded . To be that accomplished at such a young age 😲!!
Excellent tribute, thank you for the video.
Dickey had an incredible feel for melodies. Duane Allman was one of a kind, his solo after the organ solo.
Skydog was Duane’s nickname

Dickey Betts is the first guitar solo, Duane Allman is the second, the original six were on another planet
While the two guitar marriage gets all the attention you can't ignore how Berry Oakley is climbing all over that bass.
Yep , Proper enjoyed that !
shame that old man time will catch up with all of us one day !
No one gets Out alive
One of the finest live recordings of one of the best bands of modern times. Treasure your vinly copy if you have one....family heirloom.

@colrhodes377 Click on Impossible Germany by Wilco & watch / listen to the KCRW version of the song. It's brilliant guitar 🎸 by Nels
jazzy jazzy southern rock done by it's originators
It's a bit dour to start with, almost gave up ,then it got really good, but way to much for me🏴✌️
I thought that all Scotsmen liked being dour. EG, Fraser. We're all doomed! Doomed I say! 😂😂😂
It's actually wearing on me at this moment in time 11:29
