Yep, I've done a fair bit of study on how untrained units act when in battle. How the big squad at 59:27 handles that 4 person enemy squad is exactly what is described. To start with they group up and don't move, then once they get under fire they panic and retreat back by running, getting shot at even more in the process.

I blame Crossroads and squad leaders. I wish you would limit the squad leadership to BSO only
thats not up to me, if they want to participate they are welcome to do so. But its a public event so im not forcing anyone to take those roles.

Honestly you could've/should've mined all of the beachfront outside of the designated landing area... and then crushed them with artillery if they somehow found a way to make it through.

I used to worry about joining a session because im not the greatest at arma....but this has made me feel a lot more confident, so thank you for suffering through that and I might see you in a future game. really enjoyed the video/mission even if you didn't (Sorry)

The artillery was a pre assigned mission element
Callum and Recon Team all get fucking Medals of Honor while the rest get to scrub toilets at Fort Bliss. Top notch work.
Personally could of done more as Recon, But was under a NO FIRE order From higher up, Can't be taking ALL the kills now can we, And since the recon team was formed of BSO members only, i think its only fair we don't get credit, a few things i did as the no fire order got revoked was:
Disable the Turret on the enemy armor near the beach.
Assist Callum in assaulting the bases, and clearing a few enemy from his location.
General Clearing of enemy that engaged friendlies.
As Members of BSO joining in on a Public mission, We're not meant to do everything for the pubbies, We try to guide them, otherwise, things might get done just a little bit faster ;)
Understand the frustration LT but in a previous mission called operation open it was a beach assault the guys did get slaughtered at first then they just took the easy option and flanked right round the back of the mission you set out for them, you should have howitzered the shit out of them also
well, that ending where they realise they got the wrong TITAN is the icing on the cake for this mission lololol....

I need to say it was really nice playing with you. FPS crash was bad everything went our of order and than the thing with the "not working" at. Just a noobs mistake. Looking forward playing someday again with you.
Lt why do so many mission makers only create BLUFOR missions? Its like missing out on half of what Arma has to offer.
Do they think people dont like to play as russians? Or is it just their political attitude?
I dont mind playing as the "bad guys".

Seeing this video, I'm not sure they'd of even reached the beachhead... well aside from callum and a few others. :p

every howitzer shell is a bright and coulorful letter to tell the infantry that they're not there to tan on the beach
Luetin, you need to up the tempo, by the time they wouldn't have moved off the beach, CAS and larger Arty would have been called in.
Remember, the simplest force multiplier is aggression.
So many people seem to forget that in a lot of games.
I get like 90% of what Luetin is saying...but in terms of the beach landing directly under machine guns...he's also calling them stupid for refusing to do something stupid. Now on the other hand if they had actually thought it through they could have landed on the corners of the beach just out of LOS and set up suppression fire on the bunkers from the periphery of the mortar ranged area on the hillside. Then stormed it. ...instead of just sorta hanging around.
Hey Luetin! I think to cure your boredom from public missions is to make them do a simple task like check on a village because of reports or whatever then when they arrive there throw troops on them and they cant be as cautious when they don't know when the enemies will pop out! make it unpredictable

PS: Love the vids man, great zeusing. Way too nice to these kids though! hahaha. Great zeusing any way and great control of the AI even if they're derps sometimes, not acting the way they should around danger close.
More public missions pls, this was hilarious
i feel they made an excellent judgment(until i went back and seen you labeled it as minefield, but it wasn't and they took advantage) call by not going straight into a kill zone without any support! no smoke, no bombardment , no cas, nothing but light insert/exfil craft to do an assault in the middle of the day! if you really wanted to create the experience you should have added some friendly cannon fodder ahead of them.
You also have a vary high expectation of how random people play who end up clearly either have no tactical or real experience with the game. Try giving squad specific objectives and try not to combine multiple objectives in one( secure beach and advance. This should be separate and someone should be in command or give them a task complete. also support by fire squads/medium or heavy machinegun teams, and/or mortars may help their confidence on the field, tasks, and mission fluidity.
with that all said you do a damn good job as Zeus and clearly have a better understanding of the game's mechanics than i do. YUT YUT

Next time you do a heavily defended beach landing type thing, put tons of static guns wherever you dont want them to go, that way when they decide to be assholes you dont have to do anything about it, the ai will wipe them off the map.
You should start inviting other serious clans and challenge them. Doesn't Jester814 have a clan dedicated to Maritime Operations? I enjoy these just to see chaos lol.
I feel like it would of been easier to force them in the beachhead if you had constant patrols around the coast with either squads, cars, or apc's, with the beachhead being the weakest point to establish a literal beachhead and set up a fort.

I agree with the things your saying. don't let those vanilla players bring ya down. throw that artillery down with the vengeance. especially around the 30min mark those boys on the hill shooting the armored tank should have got struck by artillery.
i love these series, i would love to be a Zeus for a server, because i love messing around with ai and hundreds of mods in it, maybe one day.

Which mod adds the prop/structure compositions at 7:15, I often play Zeus with a group of friends and this would be very useful.
Hey Luetin, when you have patrols or loose units why do you put them in crouch mode? I would put them in automatic stance to increase their Survivability and the challenge. Plus it doesn't make sense to see a whole squad of guys in the same stance unless they are all standing. Anyways, keep up the good work.
It’s like in real life when you do an invasion , conventional forces (all 20 people still at the beach vs special forces (Callum and the the one advanced squad)
Biggest issue I find with Zeusing on public servers (usually the BI official ones) is that players charge up and then expect Zeus to bail them out
what flimsy artillery did you use on them? a 155mm should wipe out a football field. 2 rounds and the hilltop is cleared. but it looked like small mortars.
If I had the game and good internet and didn't get nervous using my mic I'd play I'd love to go in tactical with arty raining down around me be awesome haha
you're too nice LT, I'd of done 4-6 230mm rocket strikes on top of them so they'd finally get the hint not to be there.
I... don't think I could be Zeus for a public game, I'm an Arma noob and all I could say to myself was "What ... The ... Fuck?".
I had to give the players a pilot and a CAS aircraft just to get them to get off the boats at the right spot. The whole mission was still ruined, there was next to no resistance when they landed because the Pilot took two runs and destroyed most of the bunkers.

Of course they abandoned their landings, they would have gotten destroyed if they landed on the beach.

Do you still do the public missions? I haven't had much experience as I got arma 3 about 3 weeks ago but I'd like to think I'm more intelligent than this. I'd love to get in on some interesting zeus gameplay since the official zeus gives me a headache.
What The...be harder on the violator(s) when they sit. Throw Artillery, and a maxed out unit or units at the person(s) who violated the basic rule!

When Luetin has a public mission he posts a video on UA-cam that will have the details for getting into the server and such. Most public missions don't require too many mods, the biggest necessity is Ares but any others needed should be in the video. Most streams are private games because as you can see, public missions tend to be like trying to herd cats at times :P
Also the CSAT recon team team saw them take over that base, artillery should have hammered the thing
yes, because slowing down the mission was what I needed to do even more. Come on dude, obliterating them at every opportunity is not what makes any mission good. I have no idea why people have not understood that yet.

If I'm squad/team lead, I emphasize spread.
And when I'm not, I HEAVILY advise spread.

I was in this mission, we need to sort out the squad leadership .. because these dudes weren't thinking. Why do i have to keep telling my squad leader to get down and keep spacing .. to move and all that.
I was banging my head too lieutenant lol what in the hell were they gonna do with AA missiles engaging armor on the ground...I'd love to jump in on missions like these fast paced high pressure ones but unfortunately for me I only have zeus dlc...instructions of what mods I need would be helpful...Pharm1recon

really want to get this game and join you guys, i know its just a game to have fun so i would have said "fuck it" and stormed the beach even if we were the only boat, because, since respawn is on, there isnt much of a penalty to dying except for time loss
To bad all the clueless ppl manage to destroy the mission from the get go, thank good for Callum and Painfrog who took it seriously, this mission would have been awsome with other player =)

What could go wrong? Well the AI could be better than the players...
your TITAN launchers are different, on your server you must hold TAB to lock, in vannila you tap T. thats why noone could get them to work
That is flat out incorrect. They were AA not AT launchers, any controls are your own personal keybindings.
At least one team (that one who got to the base) hat AT (Titan "Compact" aka "the square ones"). Some ACE issue? I dont know.
But they had more than enough time to "adapt".
Shoot some rpg-dude. take that rpg. shoot tank. pretty simple. how did they even finish the singleplayer?
or they could have asked you to put rpgs in their arsenal.
Luetin you should try an AI mod on the server and see how it plays out. I use the VCOM mod which has not failed to disappoint me yet.

why didn't they use the nato at launchers instead of the titans
if i where Zeus, everyone would be dead before they hit land.. I would have bombarded them with artillery shots whilst they where still boating to add tension, put tanks and minefields in/around the artillery "zone" and put the mounted machineguns on the shore along with reinforcements engaging as soon as they killed all the bunkers and continually blow up the scene around them, plus I would make them have to destroy/capture he two bases in under a hour or even more armour support will arrive along with airstrikes, artillery still hitting them and even more troops showing up. In other words with a platoon like that especially without those brave few would end up like red fleshy mush...
then the Mission is designed to be unwinnable. which is unfair they have to have the chance to win and Zeus can't be to biased against them.

to be fair to that squad that wasn't moving... there was a marid a little more than 300 meters to their front... unless they had anti tank, there wasn't much they could have done...
