With lots and lots of practice! Recommend reading the guide I linked in the description and slowly break it down. There’s a lot of things, but you press your buttons in the same order for your opener and even minute bursts, and your odd minute burst is only different by shifting Tendo Kaeshi to after Higanbana. Take it step by step, and practice, and you’ll get it eventually!
Ikr! Well this isn’t meant to be a guide, and is instead a showcase that evolved into what it is now. When I do actual guides, I’ll be using pictures next to the names cos I’ve also been in that spot where the icon is more familiar, and vice versa. (It’s something I did in my picto visual overview). Not sure when I’ll do one for SAM though, but likely not anytime soon.
Ideal for this rotation that loops perfectly (in a full uptime scenario) without dropping Higanbana and having your burst align with raid buffs. If you use another skill speed, things might not align as nicely and things might start drifting. 2.14s is also viable (and actually does more damage), but the rotation is somewhat more complex since your burst windows for 1-6 minute are slightly different due to needing to use Meikyo to accelerate your rotation.
In a full uptime scenario for both 2.08s and 2.14s, nope. And from what I've seen for Higanbana realignment, we don't use Hagakure either, we use Meikyo to 'catch up' our rotation. But you might want to ask on The Balance for a direct confirmation, I haven't played SAM in savage yet where it matters more.
I think I had 2268 or somewhere around those lines. I’m not sure if icyveins has the skillspeed tiers, but it’s definitely on the balance discord which I referenced for this gear load out.
i dont understand some of the play here. whats the point run 2.08 when you cant full uptime anyway. which boss you can loop this tier? also why not saving a shoha and some kenki for 2 min. why save a Tsu for "1 min burst" whats the difference if you dont save there?
This video isn’t meant to represent the rotation that you’ll be using for the entire fight, more so a video for players new to a job to reference when they want to learn how to play a job properly. You’re correct that you can’t get 100% uptime this tier, but this information will still be useful in the case where you have 100% uptime during parts of the fight (the most prominent example being first minute of Black Cat in M1S). You want to run 2.08s because it’s just easier to execute as opposed to 2.14s. Sure once you take downtime into account the rotation flow starts to resemble 2.14s (using Meikyo to realign Higanbana), you can’t deny that it’s way easier to learn since you only need to learn the odd window and even window, as opposed to 6 slightly different windows that loop. You’re correct that Shoha can be saved for the even minute burst. I totally didn’t realise that’s possible now since the old burst window started with a Tendo Midare straight away, so you couldn’t save the shoha. For kenki however, you can pool kenki and even save Ikki to use during the burst window to maximise your damage, but the execution becomes even tighter and might not be comfortable for someone still learning the ropes of the job. I debated mentioning it in the video, but I think the rotation that was shown was enough to serve as the framework or Samurai’s basic rotation. I will also say that saving Kaeshi Setsugekka for 1min might not be needed. It’s what’s recommended by the balance, but I forgot that Astro no longer have cards for melee during the 1 minute. You can ask on the balance discord why they put it there. I think it’s good for establishing muscle memory for the even burst window and it’s probably something you can use if you need to pot in the odd minute.
Both can loop, 2.08s is just easier to loop. 2.14s has a slightly different burst burst on the 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 minute windows (though it’s just 1 button being moved around these windows). But these only matter in full uptime scenarios. Realistically though if you’re playing this tier’s savage, you’re not going to have 100% uptime, and you’ll need to realign your GCD. I think 2.08s should still be easier though.
No, there are no more 1min raid buffs, not even Astro cards for melee at least. I think the main reason for the 1min burst is to help us align our big hitters during the even minute. It’s also how you probably want to do your odd minute pot window if you ever need to.
Having the general gist for each phase of the rotation written out is super helpful. This is really nice, thanks!
Glad you like it!
How am I ever going to remember all this lol

learn it in chunks
This is so great. Thanks for the clear guide. Samurai has never been more fun!
Glad I could help!
Ty for the guide. Simple, Concise, Excellent. Subbed.
Thanks for this your the best!
Man I wish SAM guides would put pictures of the abilities next to names. Great video tho

@@omupenguin appreciate what you do the for the community 🙏
How do I make the countdown display to the decimal point?
It's a plugin called EngageTimer!
Is 2.08s ideal for level 100 sam? Or is it sorta preference as long as big skills line up with 2 min window

So is hagakure not used anymore to keep things under balance?

how much skill speed do you use?
I think I had 2268 or somewhere around those lines. I’m not sure if icyveins has the skillspeed tiers, but it’s definitely on the balance discord which I referenced for this gear load out.
1254 sks is the breakpoint for 2.08 gcd

So 2.08 is the new loop instead of 2.14?

May I ask why it has to be a odd number minute burst?
Is there still any raidwide damage buff that is 60s cooldown now?

What in the actual fuck did every samurai mains have dealt with >.> that looks hella complicated
