I’ve seen a number of ideas, including running it for 5 or 10 minutes with a diesel/oil mixture. But I like your approach. It seems safer.

Had the same problem with 2011 Flex with the water pump. (What a terrible design to put the water pump inside these 3.5 and 3.7 engines) The problem that I had the ethylene glycol ate up the babbitt on the bearings. The crank and rod journals where fine, but the bearings where toast. I had to replace all the bearings, the torque to angle bolts and even had to buy six new rods just to get the new bolts for them since no one sells them individually. New water pump, timing chain, gaskets and a case of Brake Clean. All in, it was $2k in parts to fix. But I got the vehicle for $500 since the owner wasn't willing to spend 8k on an 11k vehicle. I got it at a scrap price. Beautiful car, loaded with all the extras with a total price of $2500. I have since put over 50k miles on it with no problems.

Hi, thank you for you video sir, I replaced my water pump on 07 MKZ thanks to your help, it took me about a month long process. However once I put it all back together and my car was back on the road, I noticed now that my cars engine is louder and sounds like it makes more noise. Like it has a high idle, Do you remember how your Ford Edge drove after you did the repairs did you encounter any issues after the fix. Thank You!!!

Mine drove fine. Do you think you may have a vacuum leak? I'd check to make sure everything is plugged back in and hooked up.

This just happened to my 2010 edge. As soon as I saw it overheat I stopped running it. I’m changing the water pump and chains But coolant is mixed with oil. What are the chances the engine is still good? And I was thinking of doing literally like 4 oil changes 2 days. To save the engine 🤞🏻🤞🏻

I'd guess 50/50. But, you stopped driving it... That's good and probably increases your chances. Let us know how it goes.

I was told by an old-timer if I wanted to clean my engine fill it with ATF the recommended amount of oil comparison drive it for a bit then do your oil and one more
And your engine will be nice and clean

In my experience, there is a good chance the engine is fine. However, did you repair the cause of the coolant getting into engine? If not it will happen again most likely.

Oil has leaked Antifreeze in to oil; change Antifreeze in radiator to oil?
This is a 2006 old vehicle that over heated by seized idler pulley bearings that has a plastic outer diameter wheel melted. Kept adding radiator water to get home. Changed both idlers as it was a major problem to get to, so fix was done. Used water throughout the summer then changed to Antifreeze when coming cold weather came in. Three months later with Antifreeze got into the oil.
As this is ready to be junked, a test to see how long would this last with oil in radiator. What kind of oil to use? I worry if I buy any old car someone may just change oil and filter to hide small leak like mine, how to test, like an pressure test on radiator?

I'm not sure I'm understanding you fully. I think you want to know how to tell if you are buying a vehicle that has an internal engine coolant leak. I'd say your best bet would be to have a "pre purchase" inspection done at a trusted shop. Tell them specifically what you are concerned about and then have them look it over. I've prevented a fair share of misfortune myself for my customers by performing this type of inspection for them. Sorry I don't have a video on this, but it sounds like a great idea for a video in the future!

My scion xb has 187,000 on blown head gasket some water in the engine oil, but it wasn't milky. Its been sitting for over a year in my driveway now i have someone taking it apart to fix the gasket issue but im wondering if i should go thru with job and hope for the best?

Sounds like you already started. That's something that you have to weigh out and do what you think is best. It may be a gamble. Sometimes you got to roll the dies. Hopefully they land on some good numbers. Sometimes you don't have to roll the dies though. Let us know what you decide and how it turns out. Other than the information you gave I have no idea what condition the engine or the vehicle is in. So, I don't know. Either way I hope the end result is good for you. Good luck.

So I accidentally poured maybe like half a cup of coolant in my oil it was dark and didn’t notice until I saw what was coming out… do you think I’ll still have to change the oil and the filter twice?

Ok so in my case, I have a sbc and changed the intake manifold! Unfortunately I didn't have all the coolant/water drained and when I lifted the intake off the heads, water poured in! Once I started the motor it was knocking . I changed the oil & Filter, added everything new and its still knocking but not as much. Any help would be appreciated

I was driving around with a bad gasket and oil and coolant got in my oil and then my car wouldn't stop. I fixed the gasket and replace the oil filter and spark plugs then drained the oil and it still won't start. It can't get a spark. Should I do this? Or something else.

When I try to crank it, it basically does the same thing that a car would do if you tried to cank it with the spark plugs taken out.

Please reply. I drained my oil and put 3Q of awesome cleaner and 2Q of oil to remove some gunk inside the engine I was following a video on youtube and replaced the filter when done my car turned on for 4 seconds and shut off. I wasn't expecting that and immediately drained the oil and removed the filter and put 5Q of new oil and new filter. My car now just cranks and wants to start but does not. Changed sparks and try giving it gas and nothing. Any ideas?

To anyone reading this comment.... DO NOT DO WHAT THIS GUY DID!!!. I would never advise anyone to flush an engine with the product mentioned above..... (Don't get me wrong I think Awesome Cleaner is....Awesome, but not inside of an engine.) It's possible that the cylinder walls have been washed down by this product. The cylinder walls need a coating of oil in order for there to be enough compression to even cause the combustion process to happen. I've seen this before on a vehicle that have had leaking fuel injectors. The fuel would wash the cylinders down when the vehicle wasn't running. The vehicle would not start. I did a compression test and found all cylinders down around 60-70 psi. You need 90psi at least to get an engine to bust off. What I did to correct this problem was remove the spark plugs. I then added a teaspoon of oil to each cylinder. I then cranked the engine (with the spark plugs out) for a about 10 seconds to get the oil worked in. I installed the spark plugs and then the vehicle would run. Of Course Fuel injectors where recommended.
Not saying this will take care of your issue but It's worth looking into. I'd do a compression test first to confirm low compression. Wevonox, I'm sorry you ran into this issue. I hope this helps.
