  • Now you can have your battery drill on shop power. Don't leave your batteries out in the cold shop during winter and drain them. Now you can use shop power with your battery drill. Just convert a old battery to mains and clip it in. One can also pick up an old drill for free as many throw them away after the battery goes flat.

what is the maximum amperage to use and not break a 12v drill?

One can have 20 or 30 amp and it will not harm the drill. The drill only uses the amount of Amps required.
Most adapters have too low an Amp and that is why the drill has no torque (power) You can go above the voltage(12VDC) by a little but if your voltage is too high it will burn out the motor. I have gone on a 12 VDC to 14.5VDC and it's fine. I would not go higher. I have posted a video with an adapter that works for all battery operated drills from 12VDC to 18VDC.

    Why bother?
Because batteries go flat and run out all the time. Leaving your batteries in the shop when it's cold outside drains the batteries so now you can use the drill on mains and store the batteries inside during winter. Replacing old batteries is expensive. Recycling old drills for the workshop. Good for the environment. "Priceless"
