      It’s so good to hear from you again Penny!! I have missed our conversations. 🥰 I hope you’ve been doing well and have had a fun time with your family. 💕 I appreciate your comment very much today, to be honest, I wasn’t sure if it was a good idea or not to post a video like this! But if it helped even one person feel a little bit better or more confident in their work then it was worth it. 🥰 Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment today, I know you’re a busy person! Take care my friend. ❤️

Thank you so much for taking the time to watch and comment today Lisa. 🥰 Take care my friend, and happy painting!

    Hi Liesl, I took up watercolor a few years ago and it brought me much needed peace in my life. I ventured into other mediums but recently started up again. I often have similar issues and appreciate your honesty and sharing. When you first pointed out your “mistake”, I thought secretly, “ if it were me I would break out my white guashe”. I was amazed at your decision. In the end, your final painting was beautiful. I’ve learned a lot from watching you and grateful for your honesty. Thanks for sharing your talents.

    • @lieslsartisticstudio
      @lieslsartisticstudio  Місяць тому +4

      That is a good thought Kelly, I’m glad you mentioned it. I actually did attempt lifting out the color, (I just didn’t have it recorded) unfortunately the dark green had stained my paper too much and that technique just didn’t work this time which is why I resorted to the gouache. But that is definitely a good point and is worth trying with mistakes such as this. I appreciate your thoughts! Take care my friend. 🥰

    The best thing I have done when struggling with my water colour paintings or art projects in general, is to walk away and leave it for a day or 2 and then look at it again from a fresh perspective. Recently, I looked over water colour paintings I did years ago and thought, 'that's not bad' and yet at the time of painting, I thought they were terrible. I put a lot of pressure on myself for perfection, rather than practice, experience and enjoyment of the process! Thank you for sharing your talent with us, Liesl! 💕

    Hi Liesl! It's so good to see you face to face! 😊I really appreciate being reminded that we all make mistakes professionals as well as beginners. . I try to enjoy the journey with mistakes and all. But at times I do get discouraged. I love how you saved your beautiful painting! I think you did a perfect job at blending it all into the background to make it look natural with the rest of the piece! Making two leaves out of the one is brilliant! This helps me to remember that we can’t always control the flow of water. Amen, we need to enjoy the process and have fun creating! 😊 Thanks for all the encouragement! By the way, I clicked the link a couple weeks ago and purchased the Meeden water bowls and just love them. They’re perfect! Also, sorry I’m a bit late commenting. One of our fur babies got hurt Thursday. I took her to the vet and they’re going to do some stitches on her belly in the morning where she got hurt. I’ve been loving on her hoping to comfort her. @@lieslsartisticstudio Thanks Liesl for the well wishes for Tiva. It was more complicated than I thought it would be. She has quite a few stitches and a drain tube from her belly. She also has to wear one of those plastic cones around her head so that she doesn’t mess with the incision/stitches. She's not doing well at all. I keep trying to comfort her, but she's been whimpering and anxious over the cone. She's struggling walking with it without running into things. poor baby. So I doubt I'll sleep tonight and only got about 3 hours last night. Tomorrow I'm going to ask for something to help her sleep. She's such a sweetie! I think they need to try and come up with another plan to help our pets avoid what they call, the Elizabethan Collar. They put it so tight on her. I’m going to try and find another alternative if I can find one that works! 😊💕 And thanks for your sweet comments! Thank you too for all you do to touch all of us with your comments and inspiration!

      @@lieslsartisticstudio Thanks again! 💕She cried out the whole night. I was laying with my blow up mattress right near the opening to her crate so I could pet her. She stood almost the whole time in her crate all night long. I can’t imagine being that traumatized. My hubby and I said though that we also wouldn’t do so well either if we had that contraption surrounding our head, preventing us from movement and clear site. And we're human. 😊 I asked hubby to go to the vet this morning to ask for something to help her. They gave us two different medications. I’m not big on meds though so I'm going to see if the Dr thinks it’s okay to stop at least one of them after the drainage tubes are removed Wednesday afternoon. Thanks so much for the prayers! I keep praying that she heals quickly! I was cleaning the drainage tubes earlier and noticed there’s hardly any drainage today. Hopefully that means she's healing nicely! I really appreciate your support and prayers Liesl. They mean a lot! 💕😊

    Yes, this was helpful! Sometimes, there are "unhappy" little accidents and it's important to understand how to remedy something in a painting.
    I'm a beginner, and I appreciate how you point out that the bases of the petals are somewhat darker than the rest of the petal--this adds realism and dimension to the flower.
    Thanks for the lesson, and looking forward to more!

    What a wonderful video. We all struggle with our paintings at times and we all make mistakes we don't care for. I was thinking about how I might try to fix this. If the paper your painting on can handle the water, couldn't you re-wet the area, dab it a few times to lighten the dark green, let it dry and paint over it? I saw an artist demo this technique. Of course it depends on your paper. Thanks for sharing, teaching and encouraging.

    • @lieslsartisticstudio
      @lieslsartisticstudio  Місяць тому

      Thank you for the idea Joyce, I am aware of the technique, and because I use quality paper I actually did in fact give this a try, (I just didn’t show that in the video) unfortunately the color stained my paper to such a point that it didn’t really help in this case which is why I resorted to the white gauche. But that technique does work sometimes in cases similar to this, so thank you for mentioning it. 🥰 Thanks for watching!

    Liesl! I cannot tell you how many times I’ve been here in my 5+ years of watercolor painting. I actually laughed out loud when you made that giant leaf and thought “she’s not going to like that😂.” Sure enough, that’s where you thought you made your mistake. (There are only learning opportunities in watercolor). One thing I’ve learned about watercolor is it’s very forgiving, imho. Plus, I also need to remember that a painting changes while drying. Look how lovely that fix of yours turned out. It looked completely different while applying the gouache, then changed and softened when it dried. Ahhhh, I love watercolor. It’s a constant surprise. Oh, and I loved that little group of flowers you called the yellow cloud. Loose isn’t easy for me either and I’m working now to paint without much of a vision just to try something different and go against my over planning self. Thanks for this dear one. I loved every minute. Blessings 💗Rita

    Personally, I prefer hearing you talk over the Sleepytime music. I’m not sure why artists on UA-cam are using this type of music these days. Please don’t trend with them most of us to turn you off. We hear music on tutorials. I didn’t know if you know that. We all have things going on in our studios and in our homes, and having that music on makes everybody tense, especially when it’s intermittent with your lesson. Very distracting. Just an observation. I hope you take in stride.

    • @lieslsartisticstudio
      @lieslsartisticstudio  Місяць тому

      I appreciate your opinion. Over my two years of creating videos I have tried many different things and have found it very hard to please everyone and their personal preferences on this matter. If I talk a lot during a video people tell me I’m “too chatty and I should stop drinking caffeine” if I talk less and don’t have music then people get bored and stop watching, if I have music some people say they like it and some people don’t… 🤷‍♀️ definitely a very tough balance to satisfy everyone. I compose and perform my own music on most of my more recent tutorials, and that is part of my artistic side that I enjoy using and sharing, but that being said, you’re more than welcome to turn the sound off if you don’t enjoy it. Thank you for stopping by and taking the time to watch. 🥰
