Puppy Blues - Are you depressed with new puppy?

Getting a new puppy should be a wonderful time. But what happens when they're too much, and you start getting the puppy blues? Owners getting depressed post puppy is very common, so you're not alone.

@@sel8618 yes! It definitely gets easier! I’ve definitely got into the swing of things and I’m not crying anymore. I’m feeling good and loving my puppy!
You can do this I promise! You’ll get through this! I’m so sorry for what you’re going through now because I know how hard it is but you’ll make it through!

@@sel8618 let yourself feel you’re feelings. It’s totally normal to feel this way. It’s a HUGE adjustment. Try to do things for yourself like exercise and write in a journal. Keep learning about taking care of that puppy. It will get better I promise!

I have learned from my current and previous puppy: For me puppy blues = Sleep deprivation. Address that and I am fine. Sleeping when the puppy sleeps (if you can) is a good solution. They sleep 15-18 hours a day so there are plenty of times to take a nap if you are flexible. It is one of the reasons why I would only consider a puppy if I can take a few weeks off from work until you settle into a good routine. Working full time and a puppy for the first 3-4 weeks is not doable (for me). Another good life hack is getting a walker or daycare for the puppy even when you are home. And sharing the task with other people living in the house by dividing who tends to the puppy at specific times (instead of both being on duty all the time).

I'm struggling with major puppy blues. I lost my dog of 15 years and just got a new pupoy. However, after 3 weeks I'm thinking it was a huge mistake. In retrospect, I realized this was just a vein attempt to replace my old dog. Now I'm afraid I've ruined both of our lives.

I thought this was such a bad thing to feel! Glad to know I’m not alone! We have a 15 week old wire haired pointing Griffon who is an absolute doll! However, with 2 other dogs in the house, it is a lot more challenging than I ever thought it would be! This too shall pass (what I’m constantly telling myself!)!!

My new puppy hasn’t stopped whining on & off I believe it’s due to him being away from his siblings & I got him 2 hours ago 6.5 week labra doodle, I sat on my couch watching this & he did too oddly, & didn’t even move almost like your voice was soothing to him & bro fell asleep this wasn’t even the type of vid I was looking for but I watched it anyways & it still helped me😂
