I was born on a massive Norris Cattle Company FARM & RANCH just north of Ocala , Florida . I drove my first tractor solo when I was just 5 . My DAD was a Ranch Foreman there and the Corn Fields were so vast that you couldn't see the other sides of them . My Dad even helped to set a harvest production yield record for Dekalb Corn . I was just 7 for one month when I lost my Dad and Mom there . But at least I still have some fine memories from there and of them . Yes , this SONG and a JOHN DEERE Tractor always reminds me of my Wonderful Dad . And Paradise where I was born .
There's an awful lot of truth in this song. When you're young you don't appreciate the simplicity of your life. But when you get old you value peace and quiet. I don't know who wrote this song but they must have lived it. And Travis Tritt absolutely nailed it.
I never understood why my parents decided to retire in rural Arkansas, there is nothing there...nothing.. I moved on and moved to Seattle. Last month I was back in Arkansas. While driving down a lonely highway, this song came on the radio. And all of a sudden I got it...I know why they retired there..and I cried. I will never forget the feeling that is song provoked
Amanda Barcellos Amanda it is a moment I will never forget, realizing that my life was hectic and theirs was so simple and how I wished I had made a rural area my home just like they did. I finally got it!
I was lucky enough to be raised in the country in what is to me the most beautiful place around and it hurts to think of moving on from this place, but I find souless in the fact that someday hopefully not too far away I will have my own place in the country.
I don’t even like country music all that much but I got a job and they play country music constantly and the song came on and after hearing it for the 30th time I actually really listen to it it is very soothing and has a good story.
This one is all me. Left IN for the military and left that for a city (Phoenix). I am now in midMo and 100% understand why you stay in a flyover state.
It is our rebellious nature that forces us to take the path to perdition to prove we know better, only find that the dust between our toes will lead us back to where the corn grows...if we're lucky and haven't stepped off the threshold into the abyss of darkness and uncertainty. There's a reason certain things only grown in certain placesl.........
just so y'all all know. corn is the word of God. The word of God is always compared to corn. weed is the unbelievers. weeds are high where corn don't grow.
You know what i dont dream of a place were corn dont grow its tough but i love the freedom of the wilds no smoke no traffic no cameras watching your every move and so many people trying to kill each other their f........g mad out there and thats just here in the UK welcome to democracy a folks!
I never liked big cities billings is just my size one thing I noticed while visiting Seattle it's never quiet there is always a car or train. Never want to leave my state I love it
Just across the two-lane highway from my home is a huge corn field. My world and corn grows here. Been in the city and wonder why people stay there. After seeing it all unfold I hope they continue to stay in their concrete jungle. We are armed and love our neighbors. Fuck with us and watch an armed army end it and it won't end good for you. We support law enforcement. Is your burial plans in place? Stay out of our front and back yard!

Sometimes when we are young we have to get out and experience things for ourselves.
Some of us wise up real quick and come back to what's real :-)

I grew up in the country and when I turned 18 I left and swore I'd never be back.....I was right too ....I hated the country .....great song tho
My favorite song I miss you Dad
My dad passed I miss him so much I would do anything to get him back
Time and exsperience puts all things in perspective....most young want this, but as they age they want what they realize the gift they had.
This is sung in 1996 movie “A Holiday for Love”. With Melissa Gilbert, Tim Matheson and “Tom” played by Travis Tritt
