Hey guys, so sorry we took so long to upload this, been a very busy time and we both have jobs, this is just something we do for fun 💛we have learnt even more about the album since recording this like how JOE wrote Betty and Exile (omg overwhelming) butttt we can get into all that in another video if you like. I hope you enjoy this and thanks for chatting with us 🥰
In the long pond studio sessions, Taylor said “no Joe has been foolish” when Jack was trying to skirt the topic of the public speculating whether James was just a figment of Taylor’s imagination or if James was actually Joe from high school. So was the folklore love triangle something high school Joe actually was in? If so that’s amazing how Taylor and her bf now write break up songs together wow
"not without my muse" I love that line because for men poets and painters way back in the day was always about women being a muse so looking at the fact that she's calling a man her muse just makes me chuckle like she just took this patriarchal concept and switched it around, by calling Joe her muse. I just find so amazing. Like the underlying feminism ... that people don't truly notice until you know about it. Wordsworth wrote a very long poem about the Lakes it's one of his most known works! ... Yeah English major did me some good after all >.< aha
Just couldn’t resist writing down how as a literature major the lakes just feels so offensively perfect. William Wordsworth and Samuel Taylor Coleridge published their collection of poetry called “Lyrical Ballads” in 1798 and it is regarded as the start of the romantic movement in literature to this day (like how Taylor is literally the artist of the decade and is carrying the music industry on her back). Also just knowing how Taylor as an artist so renowned for her love songs is inspired by the work and poetry of the person who is associated with starting the romantic movement is next level wholesome. And their connection to the lakes also gives so much more meaning to this album, since in the romantic era they differentiated between two types of beauty, the beautiful/picturesque which was small, rounded, known, loveable, and the sublime which was grand, vast, intimidating and terrifying which is why they were so attracted to nature and mountains especially (the Windermere Peaks here) to get an experience of the sublime forces of nature. And folklore coming after Lover is just such a marvellous example of this duality between the beautiful, personal, familiar feeling of love between two overs while in folklore she explores such vast and for most unimaginable feelings of having your entire lives work being taken away from you, truly giving us both the sublime and the beautiful, having Lover as a song to commemorate one while the lakes set in literal sublime surroundings evoke the other. so the two albums performed together on tour would make SO MUCH sense and if it happens two things are sure 1. I’ll be there 2. I’M NOT READY FOR IT. Also wanted to just add that you girls are just SO amazing and a true blessing to UA-cam, thank you sososo much for this A+ Swiftie heartwarming content✨🤍

"I bathe in cliff-side pools" because her calamitous love is so immense that it lifts her up and hold her like a mountain or cliff but her insurmountable grief keeps her on the edge in the pools of her tears that she bathes in, always surrounding her and almost stuck in like her elegies...wow
Can we talk about how powerful “I would die for you in secret” is? The kind of love it is! The love has to be so strong for you to die for someone! 😍❤️
Reminds me of Cold as You: “you wouldn’t have told nobody if I died for you” But now she has Joe and it doesn’t matter if the world knows it because she knows her love for him is strong.
Every Folklore video i'm like "oh they're dressed the same" because i keep forgetting you guys literally sat there for hours creating this MASTER CLASS. I mean if that isn't dedication i don't know what is. Love that channel !!
Bonnie and Emily, You are definitely not alone on how devastatingly beautiful this album is and how it pulls you into its emotion. Both of you are extremely intelligent, empathetic, and ✨superior✨ human beings and I’m so happy I found your channel. Thanks for spreading all of the Taylor Swift love 💖
I get teary-eyed hearing the last part, about your interpretation of the Lakes, of how Taylor got through all her struggles, and come out very strong was so brilliant. 😘❤️
I think the lyric 'give you my wild, give you a child' could refer that she is so comfortable being with him that she could show him her wild side and also her inner child as everyone has those parts of their personality that only people who you trust the most know. Especially for Taylor as cause of her fame she has particularly had to hide those parts of herself.
After watching the long pond session i think your view and interpretation of the album is sooooo good. Like you really get It. Specially in the lakes like Jack said she doesn't have to actually go away and leave everything behind, she found a way to balance it. Just like you said. Loved this 💕
@@chatsandreacts Yes, is the line 'plus I saw you dance with him' about Taylor dancing with Tom at the MET gala?? Joe definitely doesn't like crowds (media/fans/attention) either. Eekkk!!

Finally!! I’ve been waiting for this ! Can’t wait to see your reaction to the long pond studio sessions 😊 Side note: in her discussion of August she says she wanted to call the girl Augustine or Augusta and that means Inez is just another friend for sure
Some comments attesting to the genius of this album: Regarding "Hoax", I think there are some lyrics that are simultaneously about Joe and Scott: "You have beaten my heart"- Scott has beaten her heart by betraying her, Joe has almost restarted her heartbeat. However, I understand this song to mostly be about the loss of her music. I love the lyrical parallel between "My Tears Ricochet" and this song: "If I'm on fire/You'll be made of ashes too", "My barren land/I am ash from your fire"- Both Scott and Taylor are interchangeably fire and ash, burning each other each time they make another move. Also, I think the lyric "No other sadness in the world would do" speaks to the love she has for her old music and her career in general. She's acknowledging that, although this loss is painful, it is the best kind of loss because at least she was given the opportunity to make music at all. Regarding "The Lakes", I think this song really lends a thesis to this album. The song immediately starts with the lyric "Is it romantic how all my elegies eulogize me?"- Explaining how ironic it is that all of these songs she wrote about loss now eulogize the loss their creator each time they play- Taylor, herself. Highlighting the word romantic specifically, the Romanticism era of literature occurred roughly between the years 1790-1850, and it was a movement that focused on the celebration of nature and true appreciation for isolation as a means of solace. That's exactly what this whole album is about! The nature theme is beautifully woven through and depicted by the album art. Also, William Wordsworth was, you guessed it, a romantic poet and one of the founders of this literary movement in England and then mentioned with the lyric "Tell me what are my words worth". So, essentially this entire album is Taylor's ode to English Romanticism- and, honestly, there is probably no better choice of literary eras to take inspiration from than this one to depict the current time we are living through.
"I bathe in cliffside pools with my calamitous love and insurmountable grief" Was pure therapy to me when I heard this line. I've had so many struggles and I wonder if I'll ever overcome them, so to hear this song about joy and sorrow co-existing was like Taylor telling me "life is about feeling blissfully happy even while going through your worst trials, you can feel deep pain and sweet happiness all in one day, and that's okay"
“A RED rose grew up out of ice frozen ground” suggesting that Red is going to be the first album she’ll re-record after the shit that she’s gone through???
I have this feeling that Taylor and Joe are engaged, there have been many allusions to marriage since the Me video ... and I wonder if the red rose reference here is Joe proposing to her. And all the references to the number 20 in both Lover and Folklore made me think they would get married in 2020 but there's not much of the year left to go!
I'm so glad that half of this video was dedicated to The Lakes. That's such a great choice for a bonus track, considering how it completely stands out while managing to remain consistent with the rest of the album. I imagine you two meddling kids are already onto reacting to the amazing Disney+ special, but I can't wait for your savvy commentaries on other albums! xx
hey i'm a new swiftie and don't know anything about taylor's past or present but i wanted to say that your videos are really helpful :)) You guys really pulled me into the fandom and i learn so much. Love the videos
„Tell me what are my words worth“ I love this line in the lakes because it’s such a clever reference to William Wordsworth, one of the well-known English poets who famously resided in the Lake District.
Writing love songs as a metaphor for career issues in order to make the subject more relatable to audiences is a classic songwriting move. For example, Dolly Parton wrote “I Will Always Love You” about deciding to split from her business partner / mentor / frequent collaborator in order to pursue a solo career. Love how much of that there is in folklore, and love hearing you two talk about it!
Just like how students and academia have studied the Romantic poets for decades/centuries, there will be masters and PhDs theses about folklore/evermore in the future! The depth and symbolism all throughout is unmatched!!

I would *die* for a reaction to the Long Pond Studio Sessions on Disney. Your insights into what Taylor and jack and Aaron said about the songs. Seriously love you ladies and this channel 🥰
I've always thought the lyric "the devil's in the details but you got a friend in me" was a nod to it's nice to have a friend ✨ speaking of friends, love these react videos I literally feel like I'm sitting and talking all things taylor with my mates 🥰
HAHAH when y'all said "we could to do another artist" Taylor responded with "HA here's evermore" (': Seems like we could just bask under Taylor's glory for now
In peace where she says 'you paint dreamscapes on the wall' for me ties straight back into the Paper Rings lyric 'the colour that we painted your brother's wall' - like even just the simple act of Joe painting a wall blue creates something magical for her. The Paper Rings lyrics 'I'm with you even if it makes me blue' also ties into hoax 'don't want no other shade of blue but you' which we now understand better after the long pond sessions. She's just the most superior songwriter ever 🥰
I want to point out how in the lakes taylor says “how all my elegies eulogize me” discusses how her heavy hitting songs make her who she is, but also a subtler interpretation of it is how what breaks her end up making her as she turns her own pain into songwriting. And the what breaks her feels so folklore and fits the vibe whereas the what makes (or heals) her feels so evermore and it’s just a perfect transition from folklore to evermore omgg!
@@staylespayne she said that Cardigan (betty’s perspective) was Betty looking back to all the things James make her go through. And that in her mind Betty and James stayed together.
I just got back from the lakes last week and let me tell you, it's fucking magical! I live in the uk and the lakes aren't far away from me but it's a completely different experience when you listen to folklore when you're there. I ended up swimming in windermere lake and could've cried from how peaceful it was. This song genuinely pieces together how beautiful the lakes are and captures the serenity in all of its entirety with SUCH EASE

Bonny and Emily giving all these interpretations and then watching the Disney+ movie and everything they said is trueeeeeeee!!!!!! Can't wait to see you guys interpretations of Red and 1989!!!!
In The lakes, I think she uses "romantic" as the artistic movement concept and not as the typical term we use nowadays for things that are about love and romance. Romanticism was a very dark period of tuberculosis, heroism, independence wars. Many writers that went to that lake used to write with candle lighting during the night and sleep during the day, many died young or had love interests who died young and talked about that in their work. Death and darkness were main subjects on Romanticism, so when Taylor refers to pain and her eulogy (which relates to her dead) makes sense to me that she is making a symbolism between herself and the Romanticism writers who used to go to "the lakes where all the poets went to die".
Getting caught up on earlier videos - I am wondering if you ladies should re fathom 😮 so many times through these videos you guys had the thoughts of the possibility of Joe and Taylor struggling but then would shake it off 🤔 knowing what we know now and watching these is interesting.
I’m rewatching these while I wait patiently for 1989 breakdown - I love how you guys say at the end that folklore is the perfect album to go into the re-records, and that there’s no way to have anything else before they come out 😂 No one saw evermore coming 🤦🏼♀️
What you say at the end is so true! The fact we didn’t get LoverFest but instead got folklore is crazy. So so bittersweet, it would have been Taylor’s first time performing in Denmark, my first time seeing her live. But the fact that she wrote this masterpiece of an album during quarantine and shared it with us, is the perfect silver lining. Instead of touring Lover, she’s let us in and shared her emotions concerning her lost albums and the betrayal she’s felt. Alongside the beautiful song “epiphany”, a love teenage triangle and even more appreciation for Joe (better known as William, wtf insane!). In one album she’s perfectly not only set the scene for her re-recording, but also the whole quarantine experience. Folklore felt like a warm hug in times where we had the most distance.
OMG !!! I giggled at Bonnie giving totally fierce attitude on the word "warm" from the line "im a fire and ill keep your brittle heart WARM" in Betty (13.19) ... I wouldn't wanna mess with that Bonnie in the moment 😂
I was checking everyday if you uploaded because I don’t trust my notifications. But I just got it and I’m so happy. So much has happened since this video!!!

PERFECTLY SUMMED UP!!! I just can't believe we will be listening this album for the rest of our life. SO HONOURED TO BE LIVING IN HER ERA & BECAME HER FANS TBH 😭 and you two!! always makes me excited with every single art she did!! THANK YOU FOR DID THIS, just take as many as time as you want as long as you guys enjoyed doing this! LOVE QUEEN TAYLOR SWIFT AND OF COURSE QUEEN EMILY & QUEEN BONNY! 🤍 (and it's true this album go STRAIGHTTTT UP AS MY NO 1 FAVE ALBUM!) Oh yes pls do LORDE 😭😭😭😭
I showed up late to the party, but the fact that she set the scene for a teenage love triangle with the names of Blake Lively's daughters who in her role in Gossip Girl impersonated teenage drama! Such a superior friendship!
“The devil’s in the details, But you’ve got a friend in me” ~ CORRECT ME IF I’M WRONG, I’m NEW to this; but is that like Taylor saying: The media has painted a VERY negative picture of me, made me public enemy #1 at a point, and that may or may not influence how you choose to see me - but I want you to know that if you actually get to know me, I’ll always be there for you, on your side and loyal. “Would it be enough if I could never give you peace?” As long as Taylor exists, there will always be people who will - sadly (WHY?!) harbour ill will toward her, and will always harass her, and she’ll never have that peace. If she’s not having Peace, JOE isn’t getting Peace. But as we know, Joe’s OK with that - because THAT’S 👏🏻 WHAT 👏🏻 YOU 👏🏻 DO 👏🏻 when you love someone: you move heaven and earth for them to see them happy. 💖 Ugh... this is a POWER 👏🏻 COUPLE 👏🏻 Folklore and Evermore are masterpieces. 💖
Guyssss we’ve missed you!! So much has happened! Grammys, Long Pond, Love Story Re-record...you know we want another video of you guys talking about them. Lol

I love you guys so much, thank you for this channel! I don’t really have any swiftie friends so it’s wonderful to listen to everything y’all have to say and feel like I do now! 🥰 (I’d love a video about 1989 btw)
Hoax makes a lot more sense to me after watching the long pond sessions. I think it’s a song that reflects processing conflicting emotions because it shows feelings of loss and betrayal but also shows she still has love for this person. Like when a person has been in your life so long and they wrong you you don’t instantly stop loving them, and that makes it hurt worse. That is such a complex and nuanced reflection.
perfectly timed into the week in which we all got called out on how much taylor swift we listen to by spotify :D my most listened song from the album is "invisible string", the least listened to is "The Lakes" but honestly, that has just happened, because all other songs had a week advantage in listening time :D

I've missed you guys 😭😭
I want to point out how in the lakes taylor says “how all my elegies eulogize me” discusses how her heavy hitting songs make her who she is, but also a subtler interpretation of it is how what breaks her end up making her as she turns her own pain into songwriting. And the what breaks her feels so folklore and fits the vibe whereas the what makes (or heals) her feels so evermore and it’s just a perfect transition from folklore to evermore omgg!
Omg now we know why Betty sounds so mature, it’s her 30years later looking back!!! Taylor’s MIND!!
What did she say?
@@staylespayne she said that Cardigan (betty’s perspective) was Betty looking back to all the things James make her go through. And that in her mind Betty and James stayed together.
Studied one of Wordsworth‘s poems at school... there is a part when he gets in a little boat in a lake and sees a big mountain ❤️
You finished posting these just in time for evermore!
I’ve been waiting for this solely for your breakdown on peace because it’s my absolute fav one the album!
People are sleeping on it and i cannot FATHOM it
I just got back from the lakes last week and let me tell you, it's fucking magical!
I can't wait for your Evermore reaction. I'm so excited coz the first people that came in my mind were you guys. Please upload them sooner. 😍
rewatching this video so I can make connections to Midnights tracks 😂
I hope you guys also reacts to Folklore: the long pond studio session. Sending virtual hugs to you guys❤
cant wait for the reaction for Longpond studio AHHKKKKKKKKKKKKK!!!1
It’s so funny how I HAVE to listen to folklore again after I watch your reactions. I literally did this in all 4 parts😂
hi from the very far away in both time and space - - specifically north America in August 2022. it's hilarious watching this now, bc madame S (long may she reign) has released so much amazing stuff since this went up. like, I'm so excited for your *December 2nd, 2020* selves to get evermore *in a week* and lose your everloving minds.... still can't believe she did that
I'm so excited to get to listen to this album again with your insights in mind 💛
keep well :)
You guys have quickly become my new favourite channel. I spent the weekend binging your videos! Please keep em coming! Taylor and non-Taylor related 🙏🏼🙏🏼
Death and darkness were main subjects on Romanticism, so when Taylor refers to pain and her eulogy (which relates to her dead) makes sense to me that she is making a symbolism between herself and the Romanticism writers who used to go to "the lakes where all the poets went to die".
peace is my fav off folklore and never saw someone loving it as much as i do 😭 you guys make me feel understood
AND NOW WE GET EVERMORE TAYLORRRR YOURE TOO MUCH JEFBJSNDJFI
love this 😍 i really want you to do a breakdown of 1989
Been waiting for this!! Excited for your reaction to the longpond studio sessions and also to the re-recordings ❤
FINALLY!!!!! love these videos :)
40:45 em looks like taylor like lover album cover 😂😍
OMG !!! I giggled at Bonnie giving totally fierce attitude on the word "warm" from the line "im a fire and ill keep your brittle heart WARM" in Betty (13.19) ... I wouldn't wanna mess with that Bonnie in the moment 😂
Watching these while I wait till midnight for evermore. I'm so excited to see your reaction about the new album.
I was checking everyday if you uploaded because I don’t trust my notifications. But I just got it and I’m so happy. So much has happened since this video!!!

I’m really hoping you guys react to the long pond studio sessions! Love your videos 💕💕
PERFECTLY SUMMED UP!!! I just can't believe we will be listening this album for the rest of our life. SO HONOURED TO BE LIVING IN HER ERA & BECAME HER FANS TBH 😭 and you two!! always makes me excited with every single art she did!! Oh yes pls do LORDE 😭😭😭😭
Loved rewatching this and seeing Bonnie predict CruelSummer moment on tour 🥰
I showed up late to the party, but the fact that she set the scene for a teenage love triangle with the names of Blake Lively's daughters who in her role in Gossip Girl impersonated teenage drama! Such a superior friendship!
PLEASE REACT TO EVERMORE IM LISTENING TO IT RN AND IM CRYING ITS SO GOOD
Yessss
Would love to see a breakdown of Melodrama!
this!!!
Plase do a commentary on Norman F¨cking Rockwell! I love seeing you as excited as I get when I listen to Taylor's music.
I was looking forward to seeing this!! Woohoo!!!! Love you guys so much ❤
The Lakes is my fave on the album as well. Poetry. Thank you for the highly entertaining reaction.
“The devil’s in the details,
But you’ve got a friend in me”
~ CORRECT ME IF I’M WRONG, I’m NEW to this; but is that like Taylor saying:
The media has painted a VERY negative picture of me, made me public enemy #1 at a point, and that may or may not influence how you choose to see me - but I want you to know that if you actually get to know me, I’ll always be there for you, on your side and loyal.
“Would it be enough if I could never give you peace?”
As long as Taylor exists, there will always be people who will - sadly (WHY?!) harbour ill will toward her, and will always harass her, and she’ll never have that peace.
Ugh... this is a POWER 👏🏻 COUPLE 👏🏻 Folklore and Evermore are masterpieces. 💖
32:15 "This is the best sound I've ever heard." Absolutely correct.
Guyssss we’ve missed you!! So much has happened! Grammys, Long Pond, Love Story Re-record...you know we want another video of you guys talking about them. Lol
"The lakes is a good way to end this part"
"Isn’t the place to go into another album"
Evermore: well I have something to say about that
10:59 ok but how cute was this moment tho ❤️
Ok we need a Long Pond Studio reactionnnnn 👏❤️
Brilliant. Well worth the wait. I look forward to your long pond analysis. It’s like having folklore dropped on our laps a second time. Another fantastic experience. Can’t wait to hear what you have to say about it.
I love you guys so much, thank you for this channel! I don’t really have any swiftie friends so it’s wonderful to listen to everything y’all have to say and feel like I do now! 🥰 (I’d love a video about 1989 btw)
Betty is my favorite song on folklore. I love your lead off discussion ... your observations and analysis made me appreciate the song even more!!
Cannot wait for a evermore REACTION ahh So excited 😆 ❤️
10:16 I broke out laughing when she said "literally" lol I looovvve you guys
I WAS WAITING FOR THIS I LOVE YALL
Early squad 🤍 hope you guys react to the re-recordings too!
I can’t wait for the evermore breakdown!!!🤩🤩
I wish I had Swifties buddy like you guys ..
perfectly timed into the week in which we all got called out on how much taylor swift we listen to by spotify :D
my most listened song from the album is "invisible string", the least listened to is "The Lakes" but honestly, that has just happened, because all other songs had a week advantage in listening time :D
Brilliant video Em and Bonny!!! ❤ I think Folklore is Taylor's finest work and she definitely is a poet with multiple layers to her work!!!
